Despite the gaudy records for Toledo and Ohio, neither one is in the bubble conversation because neither has the quality wins that are required for an invite. Per the NET rankings, neither one has a quad 1 win. Until teams can schedule and beat top teams, this trend of being a one team league will continue. With that being said, Clark is 100% right. If you know your only shot is to win the MAC Tournament, you've got to test things out during the regular season to see what works and what doesn't.4 points

AkronAlumnus called our players "losers." They are playing D1 basketball. They aren't losers. He's a good one to block.1 point

I'm always amazed at Ohio roads compared to the roads here in Pennsylvania. Not to mention I felt like the I-271/R-8 stretch was in a constant state of construction for at least 10 years. But our tax on gas prices are also considerably higher to "pay" for the roads. Guess it's a toss up. Pay thousands of money on gas or thousands to get new rims and shocks every year.1 point

Drove by UA on the way to the All Star Game Saturday and I must say it is an utter disgrace how bad the streets are around campus. Exchange St is absolutely nothing but potholes and uneven pavement. Countless untreated side streets like Sherman and Cross which are basically ice skating rings. And then add all the highway construction into the equation. I honestly don't blame anyone who choose not to attend Akron Home Games past and remaining. It is not worth the wear and tear on your car. I feel for folks who have to deal with that daily. They would have to put me in jail if I still lived there because I would be on the UA President and Mayor's a$$ daily. Your Tax Dollars deserve better1 point

True, this place is always full of rational thoughts and no knee jerk reactions 😂1 point

He reminds me a little of Malcolm Duvivier, a guy who played the point but was more of a combo guard who could sometimes be better when not forced to be the primary ballhandler.1 point

I wouldn't give him that much credit. When Groce came in Utomi and they were thin Utomi was often forced to play out of position on defense in the post and worked damn hard at it. I've never seen Trimble make that kind of effort.1 point

he contributed nothing other than standing out there shooting 3s. He had ONE game where he got in there and did some nice 2 point jumpers. As someone else mentioned a while back, he disrupted everything else on the floor when he was shooting air ball after brick after clunker.1 point

This Trimble situation all adds up to what I predicted would happen if he got demoted. That being said, I don't think it is a huge loss given how he's played this year. I'm sure there's a community college near his hometown that would be happy to have him. I wonder if some of these kids ever look back after it is all over and question their youthful decision making or whether their arrogance keeps them from doing so for the rest of their lives.1 point

Been a lot of drama this year. Freeman seems like a very drama-free, level-headed dude. Hope he doesn't tire of this.1 point

Ball State beat Western. BG beat Flushes. Zips maintain a 1.5 game lead in 3rd place (over Ball State and OU.)1 point

Williams is having a nice career in Greece playing for Aris basketball club and their arena holds 5,000. I just hope they do not have a track in the middle of the stands. Glad to see X is doing well.1 point

That’s not entirely true. From what I have heard, we play the team who finishes the same position in the south that we finish on our side. For example, we win the league, we play the south winner. If we finish 2nd, we play the 2nd team. Etc.1 point

First, best of luck Jacki!! Thank you for your contribution to Zips basketball. I always thought Xeyrius Williams was cut out for this sort of thing. Very natural and comfortable behind the microphone and obviously would bring an intelligent perspective from a player's point of view. That's all I got.1 point

I am a donor and found none of this to be true. Communication has been excellent and I have been kept up to speed with everything they were doing. Never once did anyone not get back to me after a voicemail by the end of the day. There has never been a single time where they didn't do exactly what they said they were going to do. I think people mistake rigidity for being slow at times. The Foundation moves slow because it is a state run foundation and laws of the State of Ohio make it seem as if it is moving slow, but they are really moving as fast as they can. I have found them to be very good and not the average you describe. However, I have no basis of comparison. Finally, I'm not sure why it is the job of the Foundation to meet the desires of major donors. The employees of the University are there to do what is in the best interest of the University. I don't donate because I expect anything from them. I donate because I want to give back. My only benefits are a tax deduction and a feeling of doing the right thing. Want an example of a school that allows itself to be bullied by major donors and I will point you to the Auburn Football program. A major donor is basically hiring and firing coaches out of his own pocket and the program is a disaster. LBJ does not run UofA. It is owned by the taxpayers of Ohio to benefit primarily the State of Ohio. If his decision making as it relates to the assembling of the Lakers is an indication of whether or not he should make decisions for UofA, I would say it's a good thing UofA did not hire a high school coach in place of Groce. The Lakers are terrible and the team's acquiescence to his opinions has put it there. I am not sure why anyone might think LBJ is a particularly smart person capable of making these decisions. He is basically a high school drop out who was handed a diploma from St. V-M because he played basketball there. I'd love to give the guy an IQ test. I bet he's a dumb as a stump. Let's not fool ourselves by believing there is much going on there between the ears. If the school let this guy make one decision, it would open the door for him to making more while holding money over UofA's head. Does anyone really think that's a good idea?1 point

Absolutely hate to see Jacki go, but wish her all the best. She is a great talent as a color commentator. Insightful, appropriate for the moment and relatable. I hope we see her back in NE Ohio soon as I consider her one of our own. Have fun Jacki!1 point

Project management is a big thing these days. I won't post it on here but Tracey Ullman does a hilarious skit in which she interviews to be a project manager. You can find it on youtube.1 point

Good for Jacki. She is a talent beyond ESPN+ announcing. Always insightful and informative. She and her knowledge will be missed. I am curious to see who ends up in the seat.1 point

You see former players and media personnel land announcing gigs all the time. It was nice having an official to breakdown the calls made and provide a different insight to the game that you just don't see elsewhere.1 point

I'm glad Groce heard my displeasure with Ali at the Northern game and put him on the bench for the start of the Eastern game. Also, good to know that John and I are on the same page here!1 point
