I could not be more proud of how this group represented the University of Akron. This thing that makes me so proud is that this team did not do it with overwhelming talent but did it with overwhelming effort. I will always think of this squad's guile and determination when I see that banner in the rafters. I am by no means saying that group is unskilled but the difference maker was the team's determination. Kudos to the coaching staff for getting those kids to buy into the system and give that effort. That type of basketball is not easy to play. I will get up a thread for the first NCAA tournament game as soon as an opponent is announced.

I've seen the the past three MAC Tournament Championships for the Zips and this is the best one yet. Where this program was when Dambrot left and basically starting over to going to an NCAA tournament without any seniors, is incredible. And the path to that NCAA tournament automatic bid consisted of beating Buffalo, Toledo, and then Kent State. This was earned. Well done guys!

It's just not your individual NET, but also who you beat and where. Longwood, St Peter's, Akron, and Montona St. all are within a few spots of one another. We might still be seeded below those teams, but the committee will also be looking at who each team beat. Akron has 2 Q2 wins while those 3 programs have a combined 0. None of the programs have a Q1 win. That's why I think Akron has a chance of being ahead of them. As for what the committee decides who knows.

I am so impressed with Enrique Freeman. Non stop motor, inspirational play, well spoken, classy. One of my favorite Zip Bball players ever. And he is only a Sophomore!!

@Let'sGoZips94 Let me be the first to congratulate you because I know how much this matters to you. I can promise you that next year the Zips, with an entire roster returning and some important new pieces will play in a better holiday tourneyment. Not sure how much better, but Groce likes to build on successes. So while we are all looking forward to the big dance, you can start dreaming about next year's OOC schedule.

1) Props to the team for winning with class. They could've gloated at the end and they didn't; they flat out ignored KSUcks as they should've. 2) Groce & co. coached their asses off. Unbelievable coaching job. Proud to have them. 3) KSUcks are a bunch of mental midgets and it showed. Once things stopped going well for them after the first 4 minutes. Carry not scoring after his skipping/dance antics is amazing. 4) Zips fans were AWESOME. They gave Jacobs absolute Hell when he touched the ball/shot free throws. I know I pissed off around 7 KSUcks fans around me with my loud cheering and tasteful trash talk. I think that happened around the arena, too. Zips fans were LOUD. What. A. Freaking. Night. IT'S 11:04 AND...

Note from the flushes board that said "If Akron wins tonight they will have the easiest path through the tournament in history. Last night Toledo gave them the game. Now this. If we don't win, the most mediocre team in the conference will represent us. Hopefully, that won't be the case." Are you kidding me? Before the tournament started I thought any of the top five seeds except Ohio could win it. They just really seem to be fading at the end of the season and it has to stick pretty hard in some bobcat craw that Groce is taking the Zips to the NCAA tournament. Akron had by far the roughest gauntlet having to take out a good Buffalo team, the number one seed and then the number two seed. Kent had the easy path, a Miami team that had no chance, an Ohio team that was fading and then facing the number 4 team in the after we took out Toledo?

The brackets I've seen have shown Buffalo hosting 2 13 vs 4 games and Pitt hosting to 14 vs 3 games. I'd love to get either of those destinations.

Up 15 with a minute left and still getting on the floor for loose balls. I think that pretty well sums up this team.

Zips will need to be smart and maintain composure in the second half as PCCC is likely to get chippy and talk their usual trash. Let them T'd up. The second half would be the perfect time for Ali to prove that he is a prime time MAC player.

If the conference is the one that handed down the suspensions AND is showcasing fan taunting by a player, that's a double standard. Mixed messaging, and makes no sense.
