>97%? 😄 I'm glad anyone got it. If you don't have a sense of humor, and a taste for alcohol, I don't see how you could endure being a Zips football fan.2 points

Zips pull off the upset. What's the harm in dreaming?2 points

Did others happen to notice 2023 recruits Caleb Borneo and Jackson Herbert in attendance last night? Great to see our future Zips supporting their future teammates, especially during a win v B1G.2 points

Awesome. I love this stuff. It would be great if you would add each weeks stats to this thread.1 point

It all comes down to how soon Mel Tucker puts in the 3rd and 4th strings. I don't see that happening before mid to late 3rd quarter. 49-7 MSU.1 point

I'm going with more than 4 scores while at the same time predicting the Zips play better than last weekend. If MSU gets up early, it could be a long day for the Zips. MSU goes to Seattle next weekend to play Washington. They need to get their starters in game shape for a 4 quarter game next weekend so I don't see them calling off the dogs, regardless of the score, until the end of the 3rd quarter. In fact, with the exception of Maryland, their schedule is pretty brutal through the end of October. I like the 9 game Big Ten schedule. It is a sign of a conference confident in the product they are selling. Call me crazy, but I think the MAC is offering a good product and I'd like to see them do the same.1 point

Zips Weekly was on TV last night. I think it was on channel 36, Bally Sports Great Lakes. It also looks like it is on again at 1030 this morning.1 point

Thanks for the great data. As I did with the offensive data, I will make some comments on the numbers of plays for the different players at each position. DL - I like the number of plays and the rotations. Did Jones need more breaks? He was very good but with a couple of more breaks, he might have been more effective. Also, I would like to see a couple more linemen in the rotation, just playing a few plays. LB- good division of PT, but I would like to see Bubba and Boateng get more PT DB - I like the number of players and PT splits ST - As my comments on the offense, I would like to see more up and coming players get some PT on Special Teams Go Zips!!!1 point

Thanks for the data. I will make some comments not on the post but on the splits of playing time. QB - i have made it clear that I am not an Irons guy. But, if he won the QB battle, he deserved to play the entire game as well as the next couple of games. RB - Norrills needs about 25% of the plays WR/TE - I like the numbers of plays. Building good depth OL - I do not like Grey playing, yet alone as much as he did. Good to see Lyons on the 2 deep, even with only 3 plays, where is Murphy? Other than that, I like the division of plays. Building up depth on the OL. ST - disappointed. Players like Lyons and many others could get some valuable experience and PT on Special Teams. Go Zips!!1 point

PFF. It may not be 100% accurate, but it’s as close as it gets without going through each play myself haha.1 point

Owen Murphy (OL) must be hurt. I feel like he was one of our better OL last year. Seems the staff is still trying to figure out who they want to use at Center full time.1 point

Someone asked about PFF ratings. Take it with a grain of salt as they weight big plays like sacks and interceptions way too heavily in my opinion. Here are the highest rated per position. QB - Irons = 64.8 RB - Wiley = 73 WR - George = 72 WR - SJL = 71.8 TE - Banks = 64.9 OL - Banes = 75 (WTF?) OL - Whigan = 67.2 OL - Gray = 64.4 OL - Williams = 63.3 DL - Harper = 64.1 DL - Johnson = 73 DL - Morton = 71.1 DL - Jones = 62.4 (WTF?) LB - Terry = 64.2 CB - Durant = 83.1 (see what I mean) CB - Hooks = 68 CB - Lewis = 66.8 S - Thompson = 59.9 I don’t want to blast individual players, so I’ll just say Whigan was our best OL. SJL best WR. Jones best DL. Bubba best LB (not listed). Golden-Nelson and Lewis best CB. JKP best S. None of that reflects in these PFF ratings. JoeMo even mentioned Jones as standing out in his presser today.1 point

Following last week's debacle, my first thought was MSU by 5+ scores. then, I remembered that the greatest improvements in football occur between weeks 1 and 2, but this concept will apply to both teams. I looked at the MSU roster and I do not know any players, but I think the lines tell a story. I also watched some film from the MSU vs. WM game. Their OL is huge and deep. They look like they will pose a huge problem. The DT's are also huge and deep. Our OL may have problems opening inside holes. The DE's are not that big, but they put a very good pass rush on the QB. MSU's QB, WR's, and RB's look good but not great. Also, early in the 4th Q, WM was only down 8 points followed by 2 late MSU TD's. With the analysis above, I am modifying my prediction to say Michigan State by 4 scores.1 point

We aren't yet dangerous enough to pull off a Northwestern or Pitt type upset. A win for me would be keeping it respectable. No 49-7 type games. Also looking forward to see any lineup mix ups as a result of week 1. Most importantly, stay relatively healthy.1 point

Fantastic job by Akron on being the ones to host this. There is so much money flowing in the eSports world, and it would be very beneficial to become one of the hotspots.1 point

Western Michigan is a pretty solid MAC program, and they lost 35-13 to MSU. I'm guessing the Zips are two TD's worse. Shocky the World? Probably not. Give me 49-13 MSU. I'd be thrilled to see us have some success running the ball, and protect Irons better than last week. Defensively, give me somebody with some speed. Week 1 we looked like a bunch of freshman, incumbents and transfer mercenaries thrown together in a 4 week camp. Joe and Co. now have some game tape to work from. I think the Zips will look better this week.1 point

I went with MSU by (only) 3 scores... and I voted with my fingers crossed.1 point

Look for Dayton to be cranking out a number of D1 talent players with JUCO level academic skills as the Dayton Board of Education has just dropped the minimum GPA to qualify for athletic competition from a 1.5 (D) to a 1.0 (D-). Thank God classes are back to being conducted in school where it's easier for the teachers to teach the kids the answers to their proficiency tests. Doing so with distance learning proved to be problematic.0 points
