Congratulations to the 15 Zips for earning a spot on the 2022 Football Academic All-MAC Team! https://gozips.com/news/2022/12/19/zips-earn-academic-all-mac-football-accolades2 points

Spur of the moment trip yesterday. Great day for a game. Thousands of people got together and enjoyed themselves watching a competitive G5 game. The players enjoyed themselves, the students who came enjoyed themselves, alumni all over the place having fun, fans having fun and I'm sure the game benefited their local communities somehow. Someone needs to explain to me again how bowls are outdated and bad for college football because I just don't get it.2 points

Doesn’t seem like he really wants to be here. Guess he’s trying to get what he thinks is best for himself, but doesn’t exactly project like a player who would spend his career here if he would recommit.2 points

GoZips.com has the complete schedule for 2023, and a 36 player roster with a lot of familiar names, and a ton of new ones including nine freshmen. The season starts on Feb. 17 at Western Carolina, the first 10 games are in that region. The MAC "season" starts at home March 10 against EMU. The MAC part of the schedule includes single games against Dayton (twice), Michigan, Shawnee State, Ohio State, Malone, a home-and-home with YSU, and a three game set at Notre Dame. YSU plays at Eastwood Field, which is home of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. I've wanted to see that ballpark since it was built but the stars never aligned. It's about $%#@& time we play Youngstown State. They're 43 miles apart. They have a history.2 points

Clearly our best all around game yesterday. I keep seeing "let down" posts on here, which I find utterly stupid. Let down? We have not lost a game we were supposed to win this year, undefeated at home, and our losses come at the hands of 4 fantastic teams, one of which is a top 20 team in the country. This team had an entirely new look, Tavari is in and Sammy is out as a starter. It takes time to warmup. I think that the lack of attendance falls completely on marketing. Knowing people in those circles I know that our marketing is done by one GA, and that person is overworked and underpaid. Want people and students to show up? Put money into marketting. Great game fellas.1 point

I agree. Looks like guys in the portal are waiting to see if they can sign with someone, anyone, other than Akron. Hope the leftovers that we get can help the team.1 point

Glad to see they came out in the second half and are still playing with effort. I think they learned their lesson against Wright State that they can't just mail it in otherwise teams will play themselves back into the game.1 point

That point of view hits home for me. The blame for the weak JAR crowds this season doesn't rest on UA Marketing's shoulders. This team has fallen flat to begin the season, and failed to build off last year's success. Too bad, because they finally had a schedule to do so. Last year we more than overcame the "losses" of Walton and Trimble (both were veterans, and expected to be starters). I expect some cream will rise to the top again and fill the Dawson/Bandaogo/Ali shoes. There is a ton of playing time available to any Zip who wants to consistently drain shots, and get a few floor burns on defense. Looking forward to seeing who steps up their game.1 point

To all members, New upgrade is now complete. There is still some reindexing working in the background. Should be finished by noon. Kind regards, ZipsNation Staff1 point

The Jackrabbits fall to 5-8 and 0-1 in Summit League play after losing at Oral Roberts 79-40. Holy smokes. They’re not nearly as good as we all thought.0 points
