  1. As long as it's something good. If not, we don't want to hear it!

  4. Not sure why the links aren’t showing the video in the post anymore. Anyway, a few good clips in this one. - Lama Lavea doing bag drills. Impressive feet for a 300 pounder. - Myles Walker creating separation from Darrian Lewis. - Freshman WR Paul Davis going over Cam Threatt for a catch. - KJ Martin out battling Daniel George for a ball.

  5. Akron is 98th. The preschool to the east is 107th (2nd to last on the list, just ahead of EMU).

  6. Awesome news. I live 4 miles from Crushers Stadium now. This just makes it feel like a legit sport again. Now I just hope we’re done hiring clowns to run the program and it can be a legit program again.

  7. Deserving group. Also, back up QBs (at least at the start of the season) typically aren’t captains.

  8. No idea but would've loved it this year, if for no other reason than to break up the Buffalo-KSUcks-Toledo-Ohio gauntlet in February. Goodness that's a stretch from Hell.

  9. It'll also be interesting to see how Akron's number changes as JoeMo gets the football program going. I'd imagine we find ourselves towards the top of the MAC (70s/80s nationally) in a year or two as hopefully more donors chip in and Kaulig's influence grows.

  11. OK, it's the count down to a BIG announcement about Zips football (but don't tell anyone else).

  12. It’ll be interesting to see how the dollar amounts change in the coming years as NIL collectives siphon some of those contributions away.

  13. Can't tell is this is sarcasm or not (I think it is), but that is what they charge for a GA season ticket lol.

  14. Nice to see the announcement today that the Mid-American Conference is bringing back the baseball tournament, and that it's going to be back in Avon. Six teams will make the cut, and it should be a good chance to see how the Zips match up by next May. We went one year and saw 5 games in two days before having to head back home, and it was a lot of fun, except the stadium needs a few shade areas. It got hot!

  17. I’m excited to see what the OL does this year. Anxious to see what young guys like T. Williams, K. Davis, and C. Lyons give us on the interior. I still think Williams and Davis will be starters. Definitely a typo on Thomas. He has to be in the 300lbs range. I’d guess Jones, Lavea, Thomas, and Robinson will be the four that collect the most snaps at DT. Need those guys to pickup where Holt and Harper left off.

  18. Phenomenal @catdaddyp I can be guilty of homerism myself, especially at this point in the college football year, but I agree with everything said. I was also skeptical of the wins coming immediately last year, but knew of the guaranteed improvement across the board. It finally became evident in week 4 throughout the end of the year. As for this year, none of it is homerism. It’s legitimate empirical data to back up the prediction that this team will be much improved in the win column. I’m not sure how much it will be as I’m sure there will be plenty of struggles, but this is the best roster and outlook we have had in 5+ years. As with most Akron football fans, I went into the 2018 season with expectations similar to what I have now. That turned out to be foolish after such a fluky run to the title game in 2017. The 2022 Zips didn’t win the East, but they gave me far more confidence going into next season than the 2017 team did. This is now a Division 1 roster that is getting better every single day. Cannot wait for Temple. Akron football and expectations are scary. It feels good to be in this position again.

  21. This made me chuckle. Graduate student Edward Saydee, who led the Owls with 639 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 149 attempts last season, has “skyrocketed” on the field, Foreman said. This is like the aliens conversation. I used to believe that aliens exist and could be among us. Then the government told me they are real. Temple fans probably heard Saydee looked good. Then this Foreman fellow used the word "skyrocketed", oversold his performance, and now Temple fans are questioning how will he's actually doing it if their run defense sucks.

  22. Would be nice to start the season off 1-0. And not with a crappy first week win like last season, BUT a "kick them in their teeth" type of week 1 win! Let's go!!!

  25. I can't say enough how excited I am to see and support our talented players who are so proud to be Zips, showing that pride on and off the field. We have a fantastic trio of leaders as our captains, D Will Jackson, MF Sammy Tojaga, and MF Josef Paulus, who also represented Akron with Akron City FC this summer. Looking forward to seeing all of our returning players and our incoming recruits in Big East action. Besides our Big East opponents, we face some outstanding teams in out of conference action...Vermont, Florida International, and Notre Dame visit Akron and we play at Michigan. Let's Go Zips!!!

  27. There are others on this site that can do better than me, but for starters we have a hell of a recruiting class coming in. They will join the returning starters who are first rate across the board. We are healthy and have Gyuwon Chong back. He is one of the most dynamic, play-making attacking midfielders you will see this season. Our forwards are fast and proven scorers. Our D has no weakness in Sangwa, Kamdem, Jackson and Henry. They protect a goal manned by Mitch Butler, who is the best goalie we have had in years. Our coaching staff is in my opinion the best in the league. Add our tradition and gameday atmosphere, which brings a lot of recruits to UA, and you have lot to be excited about. This team is for real. See you at the pitch.
