  1. I think the combination of Freeman, LCJ and Xeyrius Williams would be an awesome asset to Groce and Company on the recruiting trail. I could see adding Ali and Castaneda too, but the first three are just so well spoken.

  4. https://signalakron.org/wonder-bread-building-university-akron-demolished/ I thought this was an interesting article. UA is demolishing the old Akron Baking/Wonder Bread building. It is also planning on demolishing other buildings and selling off ones that can be salvaged. The article specifically says UA is trying to sell Quaker Square (which is not unexpected). A preservationist is quoted in the article saying that preserving Quaker Square, the Central Hower Auditorium, and the Martin building are his priorities.

  5. I watched the Tennessee vs. Kentucky game last night. The two teams almost came to blows at one point because Kentucky pretty much got man-handled in their own house. But what got me upset came later, when a Tennessee player was caught on camera blowing kisses to the Kentucky bench. I stood straight up and was screaming Technical, Technical, Technical, anybody going to call the Technical?! I might have been releasing some inner-trauma. Ha!!

  6. Freeman is now at 1600 points, 1235 rebounds, and 160 blocks. He needs 126 rebounds to pass Fred Goldberg and become the all-time leader. He needs 6 blocks to pass Romeo Travis and move to 2nd all-time. He's still 208 blocks behind Zeke Marshall - who may never lose that record. He needs 31 points to pass Bill Turner for 4th all-time in points and 58 to pass John Britton and move to #3. Enjoy this young man, he's an all-time great Zip!

  8. I gave you the link, did you have other people do your homework at Akron too? 😉 C. Winning percentage* vs. ranked conference teams (top to bottom, regardless of division, vs. common opponents regardless of the number of times played) Criteria A, Akron and Toledo had not played before Friday so no head to head record (Criteria B is the before mentioned no longer applicable division criteria). So dropping down to criteria C Akron is 0-0 against 3rd place CMU while Toledo is 0-1. Therefore ipso facto Akron should have been top seed according to the published MAC criteria. But the Zips fixed this injustice on Friday anyway. 😊

  9. I don’t usually watch the postgame videos, but I couldn’t pass on Ali and Freeman laughing. Key takeaway: my GOD those guys are high character young men that make me proud to be a Zip.

  11. Soccer wire......shows that the lady zips have added another recruit for 2025 Olivia is from the state of New York. for the true soccer purists on the board (hmmmm....could that apply to someone whose monitor ends in Buflobo?), Olivia is kind enough to list the soccer numbered positions that she can play. https://www.soccerwire.com/player/olivia-pilato/

  12. Sorry, I did not recognize the underlined words in your original post as a link. Therefore ipso facto I did not read the link. Think your most recent explanation was much better than your first. In part because it was a long time ago, I don't really recall doing any homework while at Akron. Therefore ipso facto I don't recall asking anyone to do it for me. GO ZIPS.

  14. With the wild win yesterday, the Chips have moved into 2nd in the country in Luck on KenPom. In MAC play, they're 9th in offensive efficiency, but 2nd in defensive efficiency. Winning a pair of 2OT games in a week is impressive no matter who you are, the Zips won't be able to sleepwalk their way to a win like they have a couple times this year.

  17. The worst part of re-watching the game was listening to the homers talk about M&M’s. It really was 2 games in one. The last 12 minutes might have taken longer to play than the first 28 minutes with all of the stopage. I agree now with others that our half-court defense was very effective. Our problem was in transition. Tavari, who has made great strides was the biggest liability. Somebody needs to stop or at least slow down the Toledo ball handler. Once they get a head of steam Freeman is vulnerable to the floppers. That said, Freeman still got a double-double while spending much of the game on the bench and Dawson played to the standard he set 2 years ago. But this was ultimately Ali’s game. He just can’t give the refs an opportunity to kill our momentum with a technical. That goes for Tavari and Dawson as well. Oh, and breaking the press was a disaster. Painful to re-watch. Bring on CMU. Go Zips!!

  20. That's a good reason to build good relationships on the recruiting trail with kids even if you don't think you'll get them. You never know when you'll get that second chance.

  23. Buffalo has dropped to 355th in the NET rankings. There are 362 teams in total. Brutal fall from the top of the mid major scene just a few years ago.
