Can the Zips give me a reason to give my wife a freaking high five at some point during the game. That's all I ask. Zips games have been like a Nick Saban VRBO commercial for years... I can envision President Nemer looking at the Zips player: "As your President I have some rules. No post game showers longer than 2 minutes, we have a budget...the locker room isn't a spa." "The digits underneath "Akron" on the scoreboard...don't use them. We cut the scoreboard operator from the budget and can't change them from 0" "To the fans...no high fives, no fun...the kids aren't allowed on the endzone grass." "There's a great loge and food spread upstairs...don't touch that." "To anyone that wants Zips gear - the team shop opens at 3pm." Fans: "But it's 2:45 and I want to buy some hoodies". Nemer: "I know."7 points

Is there an unwritten rule that if the opponents offense gives you five yards on a false start you have to jump off side and give it right back to them?4 points

The MAC deal with ESPN ends after the 2026/2027 academic year. There isn't any cause for concern. I'm fairly certain television coverage for MAC football was fairly late to be listed for ESPN+ coverage.2 points

Game Day Notes: Ball State has been opportunistic on offense this season, but the passing game has been a clear weakness, averaging only 124 yards per contest. Quarterback Kiael Kelly leads the team in both passing and rushing attempts. He’s thrown for 725 yards with 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions, while also carrying the ball 95 times for 273 yards and 2 scores. Transfer running back Qua Ashley, however, has been the most productive on the ground, tallying 333 yards and 3 touchdowns. Passes have been spread around to a number of different players, though receivers Magwood, Weatherly, and Hamilton have seen the bulk of the targets. Ashley has also been a reliable option out of the backfield. The offensive line has been one of the weakest units in the MAC so far, allowing 20 sacks and frequently struggling to open up running lanes. Statistically, the two defenses are fairly similar in terms of points and yards allowed. The biggest difference is that most of Ball State’s sack production has come from one player — UConn transfer Nathan Voorhis. Voorhis has already recorded 8 sacks and even led the nation in that category earlier this season. From my perspective, if Akron can control field position and limit costly mistakes, the Zips should come away with another conference win. Ball State has struggled to generate explosive plays and the odds of their offense sustaining long drives are slim. It’s a matchup where Akron’s defense should be able to control the line of scrimmage, but the offense will need to do its part and put enough points on the board.2 points

Their coming out of a weather delay adjustments are on par with their halftime adjustments.1 point

And now we're suspended. Do we get MAC after dark again?1 point

The rare Zips game where the defense is the side failing more.1 point

Now the refs are screwing us. Finley got hit high, no call. They call pass interference and pick up the flag and the replay clearly shows our player being held.1 point

Zips SHOULD NOT LOSE THIS game !! UMASS is one play from beating buffalo umass at home kent at home bowling green destroyed by Centeal michigan Akron should not lose another game this year...1 point

Pretty hard to believe we are leading at the half, but seems like offense may be getting into a rhythm and defense has adjusted to Kelly. Let’s come out and start the second half with a score1 point

If I'm gonna jump all over Finley for the 4th down brain fart I need to give him give hin his flowers for the touchdown throw. Excellent placement and what an adjustment by Mason.1 point

It's more enjoyable to listen to. I multi-task, so when we are playing like crap like this, it's just white noise in the background. Lots of house projects and chores have gotten done at my place under these conditions over the years.1 point

Me, too. No conclusive evidence on the VAR should have led to the call on the field...offside. We seem to be the Big East stepchild this season with missed and bogus calls.1 point

What a great start. The defense with a huge 4th down stop and then the offense moves right down the field for the TD. Throw in a 2 point conversion!1 point

you heard here first... Zips aren't losing a game rest of the season... Zips pull it out today, start playing some freshmen blood next week and finish the season 5-0! Central Michigan smoked Bowling green and Umass is giving Buffalo everything they can handle. Of course i am thinking positive and not saying, Umass is giving Buffalo everything they can handle, Kent State is tied with Toledo in the second... and JoeMo may not play any freshmen and we never get any pressure on the qb the rest of the season and have no clue what any of the freshmen can do on defense... But I am staying positive, Zips win today and the next four after !!!1 point

Watching a bit of Georgetown DePaul, just had a called penalty kick for DePaul overturned on a VAR review. Plus I noticed DePauls soccer field doubles as their softball field - with a whole skinned infield in the corner. Akrons facilities are better than some of the Big East for sure.1 point

This tie feels like a loss, especially after the baseless VAR reversal to a tying goal for Seton Hill. Again, we have more shots, shots on goal, and corners but do not get the W. Very frustrating. Hopefully the team forgets it and moves on. If we win out and at least get to the Big East final, we should have a top 16 seed and a first round bye for the NCAAT. At Creighton is gonna be a tough match.1 point

I'll take the visitors by a score of 31-28. When was the last time we won a road game that wasn't at Cant or UMess?1 point

I think Akron steals a rare road win today. At some point having an experienced QB who should be in the second year of his first real job after college has to pay off. A four quarter score to take the lead and then a tough fourth quarter defense wins the game. Akron 27 BSU 241 point

Well, the good news is: the draw keeps control of the Midwest division in our hands. If we win the last 3 matches, we win the division.1 point

They just guessed. Based on the frames shown on the broadcast, you could see he was on leading up to the initial shot but off by the time the ball fell to him. Couldn't tell if he was off when the initial shot was taken, so I don't know how you can overturn it based on that.1 point

At least it was built with this purpose in mind so the field is (or appears to be) full width. Unlike some of the USL teams (or NYCFC) who squeeze a field into an area that is obviously too small.1 point

This game will be available one way or another. I can almost guarantee the debate is which network picks it up, and will it be nationally televised on ESPN2, U, or CBSSports vs. ESPN+. These are 2 top G5 programs on CBB opening night. I'd be surprised if it's not nationally televised.1 point

With how the CFP is now, I'd really like to see a G5 playoffs. I mean, Akron isn't getting within screaming distance unless they go 68 teams like March Madness. But it'd be more fun than the Who Gives a Crap Bowl1 point
