Today is the day. The only day of the year that my 12 year old is allowed to say the f word. F Kent St.4 points

Both these guys are fantastic. Evan is the prototype for me as a representative of Akron Basketball (and we’ve had alot of good ones). Smart, charismatic, funny, spiritual, family/teammate oriented… and the dude loves country music and Major League?! Come on. Especially right before the Kent game and their decades-long history of thugs and idiots. And I don’t know who the interviewer is, but I’ve watched a couple of his across multiple sports and he’s GREAT. Well prepared but not stiff, asks great follow-ups, and puts the athletes at ease. Great content… keep it up UA.3 points

Could not have said it better myself, except it has been longer than a decade for that pattern at Kent. Jacob (the interviewer) is a true Akron fan first and foremost, which is what the University needs to find more of as employees.2 points

The explanation cracks me up because it makes Miami & Kent look so much worse. Basically, Miami was expected to lose way more often than they have, despite having one of the weakest schedules in the country. Kent has been expected to lose more often despite already having 5 losses, 2 of which were to Portland (224 NET) and CMU (313 NET). When watching the games that I have of both teams, the high luck factor is very valid. I've mentioned it before with Kent specifically, but they prey on their opponent giving them games more than they actually win games themselves. Poor decision-making, poor shot making, opponents having injuries, etc. have contributed heavily to their 16 wins. Akron by a million tonight. Go Zips! IT'S 11:07AM AND...2 points

For what it's worth they did trail by 29 in the 3Q, but cut in to 12 in the 4Q before settling at 18, not 20. 😉2 points

Last time we lost a home game...695 days ago (March 5, 2024) Last time we lost to Kent home or away...1,056 days (March 10, 2023 - MAC Semifinals) Gotta keep these streaks going tomorrow!2 points

Good thing Kent is shooting poorly because they are kicking our butt getting offensive rebounds.1 point

To be fair, there was an “s” in decades-long. I saw the Singletary punch in person, and I’m reminded by a stiff back every morning that my college days were more than 10 years ago. Zips by a million. kSU-CKS1 point

It is great to see Remi Agunbiade's name on the roster. Remi , who was drafted in the MLS draft, definitely will be a future MLS player. I know that Remi will continue to improve...and will help the Zips have a great fall campaign. When looking at the roster, I am particularly excited by the 5 names shown as forwards. Angel Lopez Martin Aiden Benitez Remi Agunbiade Ignacio Alem Farrell Ngongang Angel and Aiden both had outstanding freshman campaigns at their respective schools. Farrell really has great talent and could be poised for a big step up in year 2. Ignacio had some outstanding moments late in the year. I think that Londen Sears and Leo Morana saw time as forwards in High School. I am sure that our coaching staff will find the best position for them in the college environment. You can never have too many good forwards and I am excited to see this group score some goals in the sping and in the fall.1 point

Best wishes to all our players who transferred of chose not to return. Besides Nathan Ferguson transferring to Belmont which was posted in the 2026 recruits thread, as I recall … UNCG posted on Instagram welcoming Caleb Borneo. Abdi Bahur transferred to UMBC I think.1 point

Great to see the Spring roster. Looking forward to seeing this team in Spring Exhibition action. Go Zips!!!1 point

Interesting, maybe he committed and then got offered by Akron later in the day? D1 offer could quickly make him 0% committed? Actually it says “offer to play” sounds like a walk on offer to me.1 point

Can't State ALWAYS sucks. It is often said that athletics are the front porch of a university. It is fitting that the thugs of this program represent a corn field college with fashion and "financial engineering" (I mean, wtf kind of fraudulent program is that?) as among their most notable programs. Prediction: 95-78 Zips. Piggy gets T'd up twice because his players lack the desire and composure to compete with a superior, athletic, and well-coached team. This begins a rough patch in the schedule as Cant's luck begins to run out in several subsequent close games.1 point

I mean duh, obviously you have to account for the correlated gaussian method! Basically first grade level mathematics1 point

I suspect Evan will have the primary task of defending Gillespie tonight. He'll be a little outsized but he's up to the task as he's one of the Zips best defenders. If Whatley is out, Amani's free to take some of that on.1 point

That's about right and I'd take Akron with the points. We're playing a team who lost to CMU a week or so ago. That same CMU team lost to EMU by 30. Kent is 5th in Luck per KenPom - time to end their luck. Go prove we're the class of the MAC. Go Zips!1 point

I don't know how many people caught it, but after the WMU game they interviewed Bowen on the radio. He brought up the possibility of getting some kind of waiver for an extra year of eligibility and Joe goes "Hopefully at Akron" and Bowen responded "Absolutely, I love it here these guys are the first ones to ever give me a chance at regular playing time"1 point

I think we all understand by now that the scholarship chart will likely be torched at the end of each season. That said, it's still helpful to have a long-term vision of what is possible. I'm less than confident with this update. Please let me know if you see an issue. Thanks. Zips add Ognjen Stankovic for 2025-6. RJ Jones and Jashawn Ladd for 2026-7. Cody Head (Junior), Tai Perkins and Josh Henderson (Freshmen) are redshirting this year. Never thought I would see a true PG redshirt, but times - they are a chang'n.1 point
