  3. As @Zips1991 said in another topic, the zips are at more risk of not making the Big East tournament than they are of not making the NCAA tournament. if the zips win their last 2 road games, the zips will make the NCAA tournament and be seeded in the top 16. as far as the Big east tournament, the zips can only get to 15 points Georgetown is the only team certain to get in right now as they have 18 points and still have 2 games left to play. Creighton will win the Midwest division with 18 points if they beat Georgetown and DePaul in their last 2 games. Is it likely that Creighton beats Georgetown? Probably not. But they can still win the Midwest with a tie against Georgetown and a win over DePaul. UConn could finish with 18 points with wins in their last 3 games. Their last 2 games are against Xavier and Georgetown so they have a challenging path to finish with 18 points. As I mentioned in another topic yesterday, Seton Hall has the easiest schedule and they could finish with 17 points. Bottom line, I think that the Zips are in good shape to make Big East tournament if they win their last 2. however, if Georgetown loses their last 2(super unlikely), things could get complicated.

  4. I emailed the ticket office and they said there's a delay with the parking passes. They said if you have a Lot 2 pass, they'll be sending out an email with instructions later today. If you have a Lot 1 pass (deck), you can just park there without a pass for tomorrow.

  5. IDK but we have the perfect interim in J.D. Brookhart.

  6. Sure there is. Having a lower seed means less/no road games leading up to the College Cup. We got lucky last year in having a higher seed and remaining at home throughout because the lower seeds in our quarter bracket all lost prior to crossing our path. Also, an excellent coach/manager will always find a reason for his team to play to its full potential. I do not know how Embick operates, but Porter had an entire list of goals to accomplish for the season, and this list made the result of nearly every game meaningful.

  8. Pay a student $40 for the game to operate the camera, tell them to just follow the ball to each side of the court, give them free concessions at the half, and make it happen. I don't need a score bug for an exhibition.

  13. Ianello and Arth did more damage to Akron football attendance than these midweek games did if we're to be honest. Joe isn't helping the matter either. If Akron was as consistently good as Toledo or WMU instead of being a borderline playoff caliber FCS team more would attend.

Hopefully we'll get some fans there as the proceeds are intended to benefit the NIL fund. 15. QB: Roggow is what he is at this point. Yes, it’s true that he was originally the third string quarterback, but that excuse needs to be put to bed. I maintain he is good enough to give this offense a chance to be successful when paired with a run game. We saw that for most of the contest, until he was asked to air it out in the last few minutes. The interception was not his fault as Roggow put the ball on the money and the receiver couldn’t bring it in. RB: I thought the offensive staff had an excellent game plan until the first drive where we went down. The plan seemed to be lean on the run game and pick our spots in the passing game where Roggow could have success. Then, for whatever reason, we decided not to give the ball to the best player on the field and instead pass for three consecutive downs. That led to a failed fake punt and the game crashing down on us. Gant had 162 yards and should have been given the opportunity to keep carving up a Kent defense that simply could not contain him. Instead, call it coaches outsmarting themselves or whatever phrase is suitable here and we handed the game away. WR: Despite our wideouts having a decent day, they needed to have a great day. Mason dropped one that should have been a touchdown, and Williams batted one in the air that led to an interception. Both of those plays needed to be made, and they weren’t. There was also a false start on a wideout that had nothing to do with the play that was being run. We have a quarterback who desperately needs his receivers’ help, and they need to play up to their potential. TE: Alexander and Cravaack set some crushing blocks this game. They may not have been utilized much in the passing game, but they were vital reasons why Gant often had massive holes to run through. OL: I know I’ve said it a number of times already, but this OL is not built to be a one-dimensional passing team. They were strong in the run game throughout the contest but fell apart at the end when Kent was allowed to tee off on Roggow. I know Lyons had a holding penalty, but I also want to point out he has been playing his tail off and is having what should eventually be recognized as an all-conference season. DL: The defensive line was solid. They did give up a few short-yardage situations, but some of that also falls on the back seven filling and finishing tackles. My biggest gripe with this group was the inability to get DeSheilds down in the backfield. There were times when the DL had him on the run or were able to get a hand on him but just couldn’t finish the play. Their pressure certainly bothered DeShields, and Kent’s two running backs were held to a combined 54 yards. LB: Outside of a missed tackle leading to a long touchdown, linebacker play was actually pretty good. In fact, the trio of Johnson, Nunoo, and Curtis have been bright spots on a defense that has struggled to stop explosive plays throughout the year. DB: In most games this season, passing coverage could be excused - to an extent - due to the lack of a pass rush. This game, however, DeSheilds was pressured plenty throughout the contest, and our secondary flat out stunk. The number of times our defensive backs did not get their heads around on passes is inexcusable. That falls directly on coaching. The PIs calls were legitimate penalties. The only positive I have to say is the DBs were mostly solid in run support, but that was also against one of the worst rushing offenses in college football. ST: Kickoff and punt coverage were actually pretty good. However, the fumble on kickoff return and the confusion on how to fair catch were difficult to watch. The missed chip-shot field goal was yet another addition to the special teams woes we’ve unfortunately come to expect. I will say, however, that the 50 yard make by Stire and the 56 yard punt by Castle was nice to see. Final Thoughts: 15 penalties for 165 yards and two turnovers. We’re an undisciplined team that won’t beat anyone playing like that, including a less talented Kent squad. 422 yards of total offense can’t undo consistent self-inflicted wounds. Yes, we’ve had some injuries to some important players, but it’s the staff’s job to get the best out of the players that are available, and that isn’t happening. QB: Roggow HB: Gant Patrick Williams WR: Williams WR: Burris WR: Mason TE: Alexander Cravaack Hook LT: Slayden LG: Smith C Lyons RG: Jones RT: Gould Mann DE: Frazier Abor DE: Durham Waye DT: Hull Williams Brown-Demery DT: Mixon Kavals LB: Johnson Jones LB: Nunoo Curtis NB: Branch Moss CB: Thomas Hobson CB: Newsome Hobson S: Davis Branch S: Hunter Flowers Top Rated Offense: HB - Gant WR - Mason QB - Roggow WR - Burris LG - Smith Top Rated Defense: LB - Johnson DT - Williams DE - Abor LB - Curtis S - Hunter

  18. We used to not get public exhibitions at all. I personally don't mind it as a pay to see only event if it helps drive a little extra foot traffic to the JAR.

  19. Had an absolute blast tailgating Saturday. Lot was packed early and weather was unbelievable. I agree with everyone's take that there was more than 12K there Saturday. But boy did I leave pissed off. I liked the Moorhead hiring but my god has it been a flop. Not asking for much just middle of the pack MAC football. I sat by the Akron baseball team and they all left embarrassed after that fake punt.

  21. I think it's more to do with cost. Although, a lower production level for YouTube would minimize cost. I just know there's significant cost associated with producing a broadcast at the level required for ESPN+. That's why the non D1 games are only broadcast on GoZips.com. Less cost for the lower production quality.

  23. I think so. Always thought it was strange they gave me a parking pass for it considering there's no one there collecting money for it. 😅

  24. The consolidation of the state championship games to Benson HOF stadium has been very convenient but that place has absolutely zero charm. The Fawcett/Paul Brown Tiger Stadium split was much more fun and a better atmosphere for the nature of high school games. I also think Stark County benefited more from the split and people travelling between the venues. I'd love to see them come to Infocison but I don't believe UA has ever even put in a bid. As for Tyrell, seems like it was just yesterday he was shot down for the YSU job. He's had a rough season this year, going 3-6 and losing the Feister brothers and some other talent. We'll see how they do in the playoffs.

  25. I think it'd be smart for Akron to try and get them. It's not going to bring life-changing revenue to change anything, but it will be a net financial positive. And it'll get people to visit that otherwise wouldn't. If that even brings a dozen students down the line...

  26. Plus solidifying our resume with winning our final 2 games will likely qualify us for the BE Tournament. I hope our team does not look ahead but takes care of each game and lets the rest play out as it will.

  27. 24 shots and only 10 on goal. From what I recall at least 5 of those were directly at the GK’s body. Shots off target over the goal or wide; Dismal shooting. If I were a forward or attacking mid on a quality Zips program, I think I would ask my coaches for some recommendations of what to do to work on my shooting and go do so with my fellow forwards/AMs on our own in addition to that done in training with the coaches. Love these guys but beyond frustrated with the inability to make good shots when they do shoot.

  29. I've seen it listed as ESPN+ on our schedule page but I don't see it listed on ESPN+. Plus, we don't broadcast non-D1 regular season games on ESPN+ so it seems strange that an exhibition would be even if it is against a D1 team. I guess we'll see.

  30. I would be willing to bet with the exception of the EMU game, the way the games have been handled this season most fans attending in person or even watching on tv at this point are either family, close friends of a player or cheerleader or band member, or the most die hard of fans like Marty. Now that we are in to the Tuesday night games with nothing to play for it would be really hard to come up with any gimmicks powerful enough to draw interest to get people into the stadium unless it falls into the above categories. There may be some that want to be there in person to see what new methods Moorehead can come up with to try and force Goodrich to fire him but at this point I don't think those people are even willing to come out. If it hasn't happened by now it isn't going to. I can't believe he still has an office today...... Seriously, we are not tied with Sac State in the standings at 1-7... with our only win against RMU. I can't remember who posted it earlier, but we are probably lucky we caught them early in the season because Moorehead probably would have tried to give that game away also.

  32. Even if you wish to make that argument that's largely overlooking the fact that home viewing is better than ever. There was a time if you wanted to watch Akron play you had to go to the game. Watching on TV wasn't even an option. Let alone watching in high definition on a 70" TV. Not to mention ESPN has spent those 25 years brainwashing a generation into believing if you're not first, you're last. There isn't the same type of community there used to be in sports. When I was growing up in the 1990s going to a high school football game used to be the thing to do on a Friday night regardless of if you knew someone playing in the game or not. I don't know anyone who attends games now outside of my niece and nephew who are both in high school.

  33. Great analysis. I don't have the RPI math but I assume Akron would make the NCAA Tournament even with 2 losses to close the season. However, anything short of two wins would likely leave them out of the Big East tournament. However, my prediction is the Zips win the Midwest division. The Creighton-Georgetown match is in DC and as @TennZip laid out, the three-way tiebreaker favors Akron right now.

  34. FYI 7 players from the 2025 Hoban squad are playing college ball including 1 at Ohio State. Unlike many of you casuals I can actually back up what i say based on knowledge. Newsflash: AKRON IS NOT A D1/FBS TEAM. Why? Because they can't beat a single FBS team. Our only win is against Robert Morris = A FCS Team. So I wish you and other clowns would go under a rock and never come back because yall are part of the damn problem.

  35. A better product always helps. It's not the only thing that draws people to games.

  36. I would argue that the weeknight games are not only the worst thing to happen to Akron, but the entire MAC. The only people who think they are good for the schools are the athletic directors, and they are the same clowns who will destroy their school to make it to a bigger school.

  38. This continues to baffle me. Alexander and Cravaack have proven to be very sure handed, reliable, receivers but they always seem to be the third or fourth read in the passing game. Very rarely are they a primary receiver. This passing game seems to only focus on the deep outs or crossing patterns deep over the middle. I think an intermediate passing game would certainly help Roggow and make his life easier. Roggow has done his best in a tough situation but accuracy on his long throws isn’t his strength and he hasn’t been helped with numerous drops by the wide outs.

  39. i will tell you what i think increase attendance since you brought it up... A good product. I could care less about anything else, if the product is worth seeing and is something the community and fans can get behind they will. Simple as that. If the product isn't any good you can put it on whatever day you want and have whatever gimmicks you want the people aren't going to come.
