I agree with just about everything you posted. I don't care if Aaron Jackson gives you nothing on O. He provides quickness on D and has enough size to play 10-12 min at the 4 in MAC play. Maybe that sparks Kwan but Im not sure. I was also happy to see Robo and Antino playing separately for most of the game. Antino showed more effort on D today but takes poor angles. Robo just isn't healthy. Right now he is getting beat by any one he gaurds. I haven't paid much attention to his brace in the past but it appeared to me that he's now wearing the larger, restricting brace on his knee. Hope he gets healthier as the year goes by as he's still less than 12 mths removed from his injury.

First game I've seen in person. I agree with 01 that Akron's perimeter D is its biggest weakness. I'm am hopeful that this will get better with time as Noah is not close to 100%. He just doesn't have that lateral quickness he had last year. Pat needs more touches to get back into a groove. He seems to be a player that needs confidence to be effective and I haven't seen it since his role change. Antino's 3 ball was huge. Just before he shot it I said this is a situation were he usually launches one. I love that he has that kind of confidence. Not completely knocking Kwan but he looks like he spent very little time in the weight room. He is still getting pushed around and it becomes very obvious against a team like WMU. Again some players just don't like to be muscled up with Reggie being another example of that. Wish Aaron Jackson had a little more to offer on O as he certainly helps on the defensive side of the ball. The team has a lot of talent and I'm excited to see both Ivy and Williams develop throughout league play. You can see that they both think they belong and that is a big step in college. This team could have a bright future!

Where is Xavier ranked? They have to be top ten.

Anyone listening on the radio hear what's up with Pat? Hasn't played hardly in the 2nd half and not sure if he's even on the bench. I agree with Zipgrad about Noah. Really missed in a game like this. Thier guards are legit!

Do not want to start another thread for this but there's an Akron sign on the set of game day. Not for football though....Akron mens golf.

Like many on this board you have the question the WR rotations. Lane and Davis need to be on the field as much as possible. I did like what I saw from Cooper. Sad that Pratt will never become a solid option. His drop was one of many game changing plays. D line played great! Coe was all over the place yesterday and I thought Pittman played well. Also, was Pittman wearing a practice jersey??? The penalty from Marcus was a huge blow. Everyone that sat by me all yelled that he lined up off sides. You can do that and expect to win. Not sure what's up with the O line. They get little push on running plays and their pass protection is now an issue. Why did Williams not play? I figured he was hurt but he can in along with Erikson when the center went down with a knee. Hard to completely blame the coaches for play calling without a breakdown on tape but they have to find a way to make plays inside the 40's. I'm guessing 40% of their drives ended in this area of the field. Still not sold on Woodson. He doesn't make plays when the team needs him. Sad part is that the Zips don't have that guy. To me this is Bowden's greatest shortcoming. Must wins the rest of the way. If the program is to trend up and take the next step they need to finish with 6 wins minimum.

Im guessing Lane was disciplined for something. He didn't play a down in the 1st quarter. Coe also didn't start. Speaking of Coe he's made some nice plays lining up at strong side end today. Game is there for the taking

Late money coming in to knock the line down to 2.5. Do the wise guys lnow something the fans don't? Need a big game from Guiser and Evans in coverage tmw.

Bryce Jones

They will also have DB from BC available next year.

Woodson playing at a high level today. Lane looks great! Hudley running with a purpose. D needs to make adjustments.

Why do they keep standing Grice up behind the NG??????

Couple of observations from last night. Great to see everyone in lot 9. Was so happy to see so many tailgaters...just a shame the weather had to take a dump on all of it. This is one of the worst weather games I've ever been in. Others include: Akron vs Can't in the bowl, Akron vs Ball St in the bowl, and a few Browns games. I'm as confused as everyone else with the formations the offense is running. Seems like there is no execution for what they'd like to do. When a team is going to run this type of running attack based offense the line needs to dominate. So far the line has been dominated by two power 5 teams. The tackles got smoked multiple times and the center got no push at all. I really hope they get things in order against a lesser team next Saturday. Depending on the level of concision is this the end for KP16? Watched him get creamed, then run the wrong way on the field. I couldn't tell if he threw up once the got on the sideline but it certainly looked like it. Chapman looks lost still. Again, I hope he plays better next week with more of a running game and better holes. He really needs the running game to help him right now. To give Chapman and KP16 some credit there were a ton of drops yesterday. Lane had 3 drops and 2 would have been catches for more than 30 yards. Davis had a big drop as did Hudley. What is the world has happened to Wolf, Pratt, and McNeil??? Someone mentioned Akron needs to throw in the middle of the field and I completely agree. I would also as to throw in more WR screens and RB screens. Defense looked great but way too many dumb penalties at the end of the game. I'm willing to give them a pass as they had to have been pissed at the offense. Really liked Broxen on the D Line. He's going to be a good one! Wish we would have seen more of the frosh LB's get mixed in. As mentioned in another thread Akron graduated a lot on D. It's important to work these guys in. It really seems like Bowden is treating the non conference games as preseason games. I was at the Akron vs UVA and thought there was no hope. That year it clicked mid season. I really hope that is the case here. I haven't lost faith in this team or in Bowden yet but I am worried.

I'll be very interested to see how the O line plays moving forward. They had a real tough time with OU's D line. The way this offense is set up they will have to dominate in the running game to open up deep throws to the wide outs. I am not going to give up on Chapman yet. He has some real talent running the ball. Just hope he average at throwing it. My hope is that who ever the the QB will have more wide open throws as the line comes into its own. On to Pitt

Looks like JD Witherspoon

Poll: Which Zip are you most looking forward to see on the field?
gozips19 replied to K92's topic in Akron Zips Football
Looking forward to seeing the the new faces. Another to add to the list is Lane at WR. If I have to vote I'll go with Chapman. He has the chance to be the most dynamic player we've had on offense in a long time. Could be the difference between 6 wins and 8/9. Haven't been this excited for a season to start in a long time.
