  1. I don't know how the rest of you feel, but I have this nagging thought that yesterday's loss was a failure of coaching. I know, and believe to my core, that Joe is the anointed One. Still yesterday it was plain for all to see the quarterbacking cost us the game and Joe did not have an answer. Undercuffler would have beaten the Owls. I suspect that is true of Bullock. But we saw no change. Make the change now. If DJ is hurt give him time to heal while someone else leads this team. If he's not hurt he's played himself out of the starting position. This is a good team that can win with a decent QB. We have other areas of improvement but let's stop the biggest bleeder first, then go to the others.
  2. This team has improved. That leaves us in pain because we could have beaten Temple. The OL is much better (with more to improve still). The DL is OK, but has to get to the QB. The other areas have the talent to win. Our coaches have a change to make. The DJ we saw today cannot win games. No arm velocity, locks onto one receiver - no progression, no accuracy, questionable leadership. Bring in a new QB against Morgan State so the team can get used to him. We have seen these coaches can make a team better during the season. Start now.
  3. Unfortunately I think there is more reality in your post than the rest of us have come to believe. We are told this program is turning around. Then you see the product on the field and all you can do is shake your head. Jen will be given time. Last year was a pass. This year is only expected to establish the foundation for success. Next year is do or die. If she can't do it we just lost three years and we are following football's miserable tradition. At least JoMo came to rescue football. Who will put women's soccer on the map remains to be seen.
  4. Nothing short of an outstanding win. Vermont is the real deal. They make us play to our best or fade away. This was playoff soccer early in the season, which will only make us better and prepared for the BE. Our depth is incredible. That is a credit for the coaches going out and getting it and the players who built this culture that makes top players want to come to Akron. Now please, please share that magic with the other Zip footballers at Temple.
  5. FloSports responding to my request to lower their pricing by saying they are looking to offer a reduced price package at sometime in the future. No time line was given. It was a one line reply.
  6. I appreciate the contact. I sent them a message asking for pricing similar to ESPN+. At $29.99 per month I will not subscribe. Hope they change.
  7. Nice opener ladies! New season, high hopes. Any word on how they did against the Bonnies?
  8. Not much of a baseball fan, but I hope the program continues to grow and competes for MAC championships.
  9. Also known as Larry, Curly and Moe.
  10. I was on campus last week and visited soccer and football friends. One guy who has seen every football practice said Taj Bullock was ahead of DJ in the QB race. He said Taj would be the starting QB if we had to play today. Taj has done a great job in grasping the offense, something they felt DJ would have an advantage in. Taj's arm and athleticism is better than DJ's. This guy also was glowing about Lingard, the OL, CB's, and kickers. He was worried about our interior DL. Joe has the team ready to win a lot! This team will give us something to get fired up about.
  11. If you are thinking geographically the addition of WVU to the ACC may make sense. The trouble is P5 college athletics thinks only in terms of revenue generated. That makes it ridiculous for WVU to leave the Big 12 for the much lesser finances of the ACC. Money guides all P5 decisions. The ACC grant of rights has screwed those schools for the next 12-13 years.
  12. There are others on this site that can do better than me, but for starters we have a hell of a recruiting class coming in. They will join the returning starters who are first rate across the board. We are healthy and have Gyuwon Chong back. He is one of the most dynamic, play-making attacking midfielders you will see this season. Our forwards are fast and proven scorers. Our D has no weakness in Sangwa, Kamdem, Jackson and Henry. They protect a goal manned by Mitch Butler, who is the best goalie we have had in years. Our coaching staff is in my opinion the best in the league. Add our tradition and gameday atmosphere, which brings a lot of recruits to UA, and you have lot to be excited about. This team is for real. See you at the pitch.
  13. Put me down for 6-6. I will reserve my prediction for a bowl game when I learn of the opponent (but I like Catdaddyp's 8-4 better).
  14. There were losses last year, but if you went to the games and watched how they improved you saw the the foundations for wins were being established. That was clear for all to see. Build the foundation and the wins will come. Joe and staff have righted the culture and added better talent, talent equal or better than our opponents. Our coaching is better than the rest of the MAC. The wins are coming regardless of what you believe.
  15. From what I know including conversations with coaches and administrators Guthrie does not want to go to a new conference, but Joe is open to it. I hope Joe wins.
  16. Brilliant 10 questions Catdaddyp. Unfortunately you have got me fired up to see Zip football ASAP. This summer downtime is the worst part of the year for those of us who need a Zip fix of some sort. Your post helped to ease the pain of waiting. This season is going to be a great ride. Not all winning, but great effort and better talent. We will surprise the MAC. Thanks! BTW, I agree with your assessment of the QB position. Joe will give DJ the chance to hold the position, but if a better talent shows itself Joe will not hesitate to do what is best for the team.
  17. Sorry Meister, I should have caught your obvious inference. I've been a little slow on the uptake lately. I attribute it to the no sports withdrawal syndrome.
  18. Good Lord Zipmeister! You are brutal today. Didn't you take your nice guy pill today? You are going to make Let'sGoZips94 feel he isn't loved.
  19. Hard to argue against these units. They are beautiful. Especially when we beat Kent. There should be a rule that we wear them every year against the Flashes.
  20. These predictions just show me they aren't doing their homework. Perhaps that should be expected for G5 programs that the national public does not care about. But some predictions scream of laziness. Having won 2 games we can expect that.
  21. My favorite uni combo is the style they wore in the Potato Bowl in Boise. I believe they were all white with the Z on the helmet. The color announcer for the broadcast said they were the best uni's in college football.
  22. WVU administration showed a post from the account of Huggins wife June that announced he had resigned. Is that binding to him? I don't know. What we do know is that we have another Huggins mess that he created. I would welcome his departure if I were a WVU fan. Winning his way is not worth the cost and loss of dignity.
  23. It is so damn slow I'll offer something to get through these doldrums. I had a conversation with a senior administrator who sees both football and basketball summer workouts regularly. For football he offered this is shaping up to be hell of a team. Don't be surprised if they beat both Temple and Indiana, though unlikely. Our new QB Bullock is amazing and DJ better look out because Bullock can pass and is capable of being a devastating runner. The staff is very high on him. Lingard is incredible. Enjoy him while we have him. He's all we ever wanted in an RB. The OL will not be where we want it to be but it will make us forget last season's line, which is welcomed by me. Overall the culture has been changed to one of warriors and competitors who believe they will win. In basketball he only shared what we all know is that this team will be a once in a lifetime team. The only player he mentioned was Sammy who he said has stepped up his game and has looked great. I know this is not earthshaking but it's the best I can do for now. Can't wait for the fall and winter. What a year this has potential to be when you include soccer and womens BBall.
  24. I would love to see our T&F program leave the MAC for the BE. We would compete quite well. Years ago the BE used to hold their indoor championships at the Stile Center on our campus. So we have a T&F history with them, but that's not enough to get us in. It's just fun to imagine. Chances of that happening are zero.
