Hard to argue against these units. They are beautiful. Especially when we beat Kent. There should be a rule that we wear them every year against the Flashes.

Love the hat!

These predictions just show me they aren't doing their homework. Perhaps that should be expected for G5 programs that the national public does not care about. But some predictions scream of laziness. Having won 2 games we can expect that.

My favorite uni combo is the style they wore in the Potato Bowl in Boise. I believe they were all white with the Z on the helmet. The color announcer for the broadcast said they were the best uni's in college football.

Bob Huggins To Be Inducted Into HOF
72 Roo replied to clarkwgriswold's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
WVU administration showed a post from the account of Huggins wife June that announced he had resigned. Is that binding to him? I don't know. What we do know is that we have another Huggins mess that he created. I would welcome his departure if I were a WVU fan. Winning his way is not worth the cost and loss of dignity. -
It is so damn slow I'll offer something to get through these doldrums. I had a conversation with a senior administrator who sees both football and basketball summer workouts regularly. For football he offered this is shaping up to be hell of a team. Don't be surprised if they beat both Temple and Indiana, though unlikely. Our new QB Bullock is amazing and DJ better look out because Bullock can pass and is capable of being a devastating runner. The staff is very high on him. Lingard is incredible. Enjoy him while we have him. He's all we ever wanted in an RB. The OL will not be where we want it to be but it will make us forget last season's line, which is welcomed by me. Overall the culture has been changed to one of warriors and competitors who believe they will win. In basketball he only shared what we all know is that this team will be a once in a lifetime team. The only player he mentioned was Sammy who he said has stepped up his game and has looked great. I know this is not earthshaking but it's the best I can do for now. Can't wait for the fall and winter. What a year this has potential to be when you include soccer and womens BBall.

MAC Suspends Mens Soccer sponsorship after 2022
72 Roo replied to Zip_ME87's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
I would love to see our T&F program leave the MAC for the BE. We would compete quite well. Years ago the BE used to hold their indoor championships at the Stile Center on our campus. So we have a T&F history with them, but that's not enough to get us in. It's just fun to imagine. Chances of that happening are zero. -
"This guy gets it." Thank you Catdaddy for sending this along. Most of the time I find these so-called pre-season analysis of D1 programs to be a waste of time. This one was different. He was informed and could see beyond the record and poor tradition. He can see the results of the seeds Joe and Company are planting. Now is a slow time. It was fun to fill it with this discussion of Zip football.

"I wonder if Ianello would like to sponsor his statues at InfoCision. The Rob Ianello Garbage Cans." No need to ask iCoach for money. I'll buy the sponsorship for his garbage cans myself. Glad to do it.

I also did not see an announcement that Christy Mitchell was not retained or fired or resigned. So this post on GoZips.com was a slight surprise only in that I expected that there would be an announcement that the position was open. Coach Mitchell was someone who I wanted to succeed. That was not in her wheelhouse. The womens LAX program was consistently below mediocre, even when they had time to get the program winning. A change was necessary and I'm glad Charles moved forward with it. I wish the new coach all the best. I like Charles expectations that all sports be consistently in the top 3-4 of the MAC.

Class of '24 Recruits & Verbal Commitments
72 Roo replied to Blue & Gold's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
I like that his Twitter page shows a photo of his certificate of achievement for gaining Summa cum Laude honors. A very solid pickup. Congratulations to the staff and all long suffering Zip fans. This is going to be a great next few years with JoMo. In Joe We Trust. -
The Cavs management, scouting and coaches are either idiots, desperate or both. What a waste of a pick.
-
Love it! This is the conference we have always wanted. Just think if our other programs could be in position to compete at this level. We can only dream, but what a dream!
-
Yeah, but our left outs are better than there left outs. So there!

I was amazed at what Donnelly did in a bad situation. Not knowing what is going on around the program I thought it would be a great feel good story to make him the HC. Why that didn't happen I don't know and will not rush to speculation. There is no doubt the Akron job is a tough one. We are coming back from a death sentence, have a nice high school stadium and have little tradition. I hope Guthrie can build a better situation over time, but I hate to lose this guy.
-
If he has a good year at UC will he transfer to UCLA, Kansas or Kentucky?
-
Who do y'all think is pulling the strings on these - Guthrie, Groce, both, or someone else? Clearly this happened due to my hunger strike to facilitate the announcement of Ali Ali returning. While I suffered greatly it was worth it as it is obvious there are residual affects. The event in Cleveland is one such example. You are welcome Zip Nation!

Class of '23 Offers & Verbal Commits
72 Roo replied to Blue & Gold's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
What do you guys think about this hypothetical starting OL? LT - Kamari Landers LG - Joshua Blanchard C - Tyhler Williams RG - Keylen Davis RT - Keon Kindred I don't have an issue with this line, surely it will kick ass. But I do believe Nate Williams will start at RT. He can hold his own with any of these guys yet also provides leadership and heart. He is the soul of the OL and I believe coaches Joe and Rod will want his intangibles. With that being said I can't wait to see our backs running thru the holes this line will create. -
Great to hear. Our T & F program under Mitchell was the envy of the MAC. We all want to see it return to the top. Go Zip T & F!
-
That's a change for the better. The tournament will have the best teams and it should be competitive. This will make the regular season very important, yet will give some leeway for a few misplayed games. I have never been a fan of conferences that have most of the teams making the conference tournament. Our Zips should be in it based on the progress they made this year. Well done ladies! Kick some ass next year.

Zips Nation you are welcome! It is painfully obvious that my hunger strike was the tipping point that brought this young man back into the fold. Groce is so grateful to me that I now have a seat on the bench next to Bud Wentz. Rest assured I am staying humble about my unselfish sacrifice. Yet my wife is disappointed Ali did not delay longer. She wanted to see a slimmer version of 72Roo. Can't keep everyone happy.

Keeping up with the Three D's (Dambrot, Dru & Duquesne)
72 Roo replied to dirtyolcrowe's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
You don't know Zip basketball history. This statement is a joke. You are overlooking the impact Tony Laterza, Wyatt Webb and Bob Huggins had while at Akron. What they did for the program was equal to or better than the improvement KD brought. -
And I'm still on my hunger strike to bring awareness of this injustice to the public. BTW I've added Brussel sprouts to the food I am denying myself. I pray an announcement comes soon. I am being draw to a light.
-
Something has got to be done about this. Therefore I've decided the only thing to do to bring attention is to go on a hunger strike. I will be giving up kale, tofu, carrot juice, caviar and liver. This is drastic, but it's got to be done. While I will have doctors monitoring my health there is no guarantee how long I'll last. This could be my last post unless an announcement comes soon. I leave all my smart-ass comments to Zipmeister. Farewell!
