Game 1—Cleveland State

Figured I would start a thread for our first game in less than 3 weeks as I am trying to watch (ESPN3 feed keeps cutting out) the Coaches vs. Cancer media day.  I will try to summarize what gets said if they ever get the feed back up.

The Zips will continue the tradition of the purple uniforms for the Coaches vs Cancer and Ball State games. Dan Peters son is an assistant at BSU.

I'm excited to see the athleticism on the team this season. The guys looked ripped. It should make for some exciting games and I hope that translates to a lot of wins.

Per this, in addition to Detroit, we should have had a scrimmage with Canisius on 11/4. Can't get it to embed for whatever reason.

I was in the athletic offices late last week, and I can confirm that they were about to leave for Canisius.   So, I'm going to assume that this scrimmage happened.  There were no snowstorms in Buffalo last week that would have stopped it.

ESPN3 only for this and UT Martin and UT Chattanooga.  Tournament game vs USC is on ESPNU.  

 

Hopefully we outperform or we may be upset over how spoiled we were with TV coverage for the last few years.

Pumped for the Groce era to begin today. Essentially a brand new team we will be trotting out on the court. Go Zips!!

The Vikes are an ideal opening opponent. They are essentially in a similar position as we are as the Felton era begins. They struggled a bit before pulling away from powerhouse Cederville so they will probably take their lumps in a rebuilding season.  I see this as game that presents a solid opportunity for our guys to get an opening win and gain some confidence. That said ,our lack of depth scares the  Hell out of me.

Burns my keister that I won't be able to be there tonight for the start of the Groce era.  This game's a nice opener for the Zips.  No disrespect to CSU, but it isn't a strong opponent yet it isn't a Radford/Coppin State level walkover.  Could be a competitive matchup.
