Keeping up with the Three D's (Dambrot, Dru & Duquesne)

I'm currently watching Texas A & M play Purdue in what is so far a good game in a jam packed NBA arena. Somewhere between playing in an NBA arena and SVSM is a better idea than what Duquesne is doing. It's all so stupid. Maybe Santa will bring the Duquesne AD and ounce of creativity for Christmas.

It's the Dambrot-Dru-SVSM connection.  If they wish to do something for their alma mater good for them.

I agree Clark, but what about their "other" alma mater?  Why not schedule a home/home with the Zips in the future?

After starting the season 0-6 Dru seems to have righted the ship, winning 7 of his last 10.

The Dukes presently sit at 7-9, good for 3rd place in the A-10.

I liked what I saw of them at the game at SVSM.  The team seemed to be coming together.  They have some talent.  Dru seemed to be in command and the kids seemed engaged.

Dru and the Dukes continued their ascent to the top of the A-10, besting a 13-3 George Washington team 73-65 on Wednesday night.

They have had one hell of a turnaround. Happy for Dru. One of the most genuine people I've met in my lifetime.

Now is the time to schedule a home and home with the Dukes while both teams are winning instead of the weak teams we brought into the JAR this year.  We could have a reunion of his old team or put his jersey in the rafters.  Anything to bring the Dukes to Akron.  We should have a solid veteran team next year so no excuses why we should not play the Dukes.

Not seeing the ROI for this.  Maybe mean something to the folks who remember that team but it's going on 20 years now.  Groce and the current staff have minimal connection, if any, with that team.

I bet there is a better ROI for this compared to scheduling Milwaukee, Northern Kentucky, etc...

If nothing else it could put some butts in seats from the SVSM and UA people with a connection to the Joyce family.  Duquesne brought a few people to the game at SVSM and there was a contingent of Joyce family and friends.  Maybe not the gate buster of Ohio Wesleyan or SUNY Brockport but a larger visitor contingent than we are used to seeing.

Seems like something Keith could facilitate.

I don't think this is an Akron issue. I imagine Akron would schedule a home and home in a heart beat if Duquesne had interest. The reality is A10 schools view the MAC as inferior and aren't interested in "scheduling down". Even if it's not true.

Outside of Buffalo-St. Bonaventure you rarely see A10 schools play at MAC arenas.

I heard this year's team is pretty good.  5-0 or something in the MAC.

I guess it would be fun for Groce and Ford and Co to have a big contingent of those St V people, who are apparently awaiting Dru or KDs return, and all their supporters cheering on the Dukes.

Probably not nearly as much fun as bringing in the huge Ohio Wesleyan and SUNY Brockport contingents.

I trust Groce when he says Dustin works hard to put together the schedule.  If Duquesne was a possibility, I suspect it would have already happened, but it would be nice to see it happen if possible.
