Lee Adams
Troy is an amazing program at that level. They made what seemed to be an almost seemless transition to D1. They recruit really good athletes. They are always competitive in the Sunbelt where the caliber of athlete is generally better than the MAC. They have returning QB's. They have a runnig back who gained over 1,000 yards last season. The defense was in the top 3 in the Sunbelt. It has looks like 6 returning starters. Maybe not quite as good as UAB but looks pretty darn close. Beat a big 10 team last season. Handled a good Buffalo team in a bowl. Another tough one for the ZIPS. Lee Adams
Problem is as far as the game is concerned Troy is a whole heeluv'a lot better than Akron. Loss number 4. Wait until next year football fans!

Lee Adams
This has to be a game where Arth starts changing his offensive approach. Throwing the ball 40+ times a game ain't makin' it. Bight the bullet and line up to run the ball. Keep the Akron D off the field as long as possible.

You will be a rich man one week from today. And the over/under is 52.5 ... since we know Troy will put up about 40 the question is whether the Zips can get 12-14. Being an optimist, I'll take the over.

clarkwgriswold
GT apparently thinks we should be encouraged by the Zips second half showings. I tend to think a team does better in the second half in those situations in part because the team ahead lets up knowing that the game is essentially over. As such, I can't get too excited by the team's second half performances.

Hemiman
Hey guys, making the trip up for the game from Troy. Any tailgating tips or close by places to grab a pregame meal and drink?

Any tailgating tips or close by places to grab a pregame meal and drink? #1 There is a lot of construction in and around Akron, especially downtown and a number of one-way streets. However, around the stadium there isn't any construction. Are you staying at a hotel Friday night or arriving on Saturday? I'm not as familiar with the dives around campus, but there are a number of good places to eat within 5-10 minutes of the stadium. Bricco, Crave, Cilantro, and there'a new popular place called Akronym Brewery at the corner of Main and High Streets. Someone else will have to give you a guide to tailgating. With the 0-3 start and the general state of affairs there won't be much of any Akron crowd there.

The tailgating scene isn't anything to write home about, but we have some die hards. Tailgating lots are literally right next to the stadium as well.
Captain Kangaroo
LZip has it right. Any of the three bars he mentioned are what you’re looking for, and immediately across the street from the stadium. Lot 9 is the tailgate lot across the street from the bars, at the south end of the stadium. I’ll be there with a Zips flag and a black F-150. Stop by and say hello. Safe travels to the AK.?

Ham
Hemiman, l live in Iowa; so my advise will be limited. If you fly to Akron, l would come on Thursday and stay close to the airport. From there, you would be 10 minutes from the Pro Football Hall of Fame. From there on Saturday, you would be 15 or 20 minutes from the stadium. The parking lot under the score board will be littered with Zip flags, but to find the Captain, just look for the flag flying high! If you can manage to bring a cooler on wheels, fill it with some craft beers. You will have a great time making lots of new friends!
UA1987
The 2017 Troy game was exciting. Akron took the lead 17-16 in the second half with 5 minutes to go. Warren Ball rushed for over 100 yards for the Zips, but Troy moved the ball the length of the field on their last drive at the end of the game to take the win. This year the Zips are ranked as the third worst FBS program by Saragrin (no longer second worst as UTEP moved into that spot somehow) and the point spread is 21 in favor of Troy (of course). Captain Kangaroo
I liked Zaire. I was hoping he'd see the field more this season, but it hasn't panned out that way.
