Z.I.P. Posted December 21, 2019 Report Posted December 21, 2019 (edited) Was anyone able to watch the game video feed? It didn't work for me. Also, ESPN doesn't seem to know the tournament continues tomorrow. Not listed on their schedule and under the write-up for Akron-Tulane it has our next game Dec 30 vs UMass. LoyalZIP Posted December 21, 2019 Report Posted December 21, 2019 (edited) Last year's team loses this game (Tulane) 10 times out of 10. The potential is there, just pray everyone stays healthy and keeps buying in, and we're on to something. Edited December 21, 2019 by LoyalZIP 2 Quote

I know Riak drives a lot of Zipsnation crazy, but I'm glad he made a big play in a big game. I know he is the most scoring challenged big in the history of the program, but he plays hard and does whatever is asked of him. He lost his starting spot this year, but goes out every game as a solid backup and defensive specialist. Having X on the squad allows Riak to play the role that suits him and he never seems to complain about the lost minutes. He talks to his teammates non-stop and calls out a lot of the defensive sets. Now if he can just learn the art of the put back.... Also, I am requesting no comments next time he chucks up a long 3 out of nowhere. Quote
Zip-Grad '13 Posted December 21, 2019 Report Posted December 21, 2019 This team is getting me to buy back-into Zips basketball!!! That was fun game with Tulane! Phew, THANK GODDNESS BAKSETBALL SEASON IS HERE Quote
kreed5120 Posted December 21, 2019 Report Posted December 21, 2019 I came a crossed the below article written by a Liberty fan previewing the match-up. It looks as though we should have a decent size advantage. https://www.aseaofred.com/liberty-vs-akron-preview/ Quote

Cheese has to step up today and the team needs to shake off the poor free throw shooting from yesterday. Article says Akron is toughest team Liberty has played?? Quote

Blue & Gold Posted December 21, 2019 Report Posted December 21, 2019 Cheese had an awful game yesterday. Fortunately we know that's a rarity. I'm looking for Cheese to make a big bounce back this afternoon. Quote
Blue & Gold Posted December 21, 2019 Report Posted December 21, 2019 (edited) Btw, Mikal Dawson is big. His Huntington HS & Huntington Prep reviews would generally list him between 6'3" and 6'4", but then before the Concord game Frenchy said he was around 6'2"? Well, yesterday as the teams were going through the post-game handshake line, Mikal was standing beside X & you could tell he's clearly taller than 6'2". GoZips dot com now has him listed at 6'5" and, in relation to X, that looks accurate. Edited December 21, 2019 by Blue & Gold Quote

Frenchy mentioned late in the game it looked like Banks was limping or battling some sort of injury/pain. I don't know if he ever specified the potential area of injury, but if it's back, that MIGHT just mean back spasms which could be from dehydration or something. If that's the case, hopefully he got his fluids in over night and is good to go for today. 33 minutes ago, Blue & Gold said: Cheese had an awful game yesterday. Fortunately we know that's a rarity. I'm looking for Cheese to make a big bounce back this afternoon. He almost single-handily lost us the game offensively, then made a clutch defensive play on Tulane's last possession. No matter how bad of a day he had, he fought til the end. That's admirable. I am also expecting a bounce back game from Cheese today. The 2 teams worth playing in this tourney are the 2 teams we get to face. How rare is that? Edited December 21, 2019 by Let'sGoZips94 2 Quote

Liberty's strongest opponent coming into today was Vandy. Akron's nearly 40 spots ahead of them in kenpom rankings so I'd say it's an accurate statement. Quote
LZIp Posted December 21, 2019 Report Posted December 21, 2019 Listening to yesterday's game was fun! Cannot believe we came through in the clutch. I didn't really know what to expect coming into the season. We won't ultimately know until conference play, but I think Zips basketball might be 'back'. Quote

AkronAlumnus Posted December 21, 2019 Report Posted December 21, 2019 Tulane is not a very good team. They're on pace to lose to Towson. The zips would have blown them out had they not played lackadaisically in the ten minutes. Quote
kreed5120 Posted December 21, 2019 Report Posted December 21, 2019 Towson-Tulane is in OT so expect a delay in start time. Quote

NWAkron Posted December 21, 2019 Report Posted December 21, 2019 Zips were up by 7 and had ball. LCJ got in trouble and probably should have called time out. Lost ball and switched momentum. Game moved quickly. Only two free throws all half. Quote
zipsrule Posted December 21, 2019 Report Posted December 21, 2019 Down by 9 in the second half and the offense has struggled since that 28-21 lead. Let's see how this team responds. Quote
Z.I.P. Posted December 21, 2019 Report Posted December 21, 2019 Here's an important statistic: Layups. Liberty 14 Akron 6. 2 Quote
