Just another game to fuel Guthrie to get rid of Arth. We can all likely guess the outcome here of this game.

Unless Guthrie has a guy he is 110% certain to turn this program around on consistent basis into the future, firing Arth this season isn’t a good move for him IMO. Giving Arth the chance to make real progress in the year he had the highest chance to all along is like having a free bet. If it doesn’t work, he fires him and hires his guy. If it does work, well he gets credit for patience. Why not give yourself two chances to have success rather than one (which is all he would get if/once he fires Arth)?

That and we have to pay him anyhow. I'm kind of curious how this team of underclassmen grow. In professional sports they call this an "expansion team".

Then my left brain tells my right brain to STFU.

If Guthrie has any value as an AD, he should have been working on a succession plan for every head coach at the University.  That way, if anyone moves on (promotion or firing), he has a list of candidates that he approves and he can go down the list to hire the one who wants to come to Akron.  If he does not have plans in place that are updated several times a year, Guthrie should be fired immediately.  This is how good business' work.  The teams are sports, the AD is running a business.

Western will probably be -20.  So was Fruit Jar State.  Our guys have sniffed success and l hope they are hungry.  Anything can happen in the MAC.  I look for another exciting game with ups and downs.  Let's hope the ball bounces in our favor on the 9th.  Zips 37 / Broncos 31.

That probably should be the case, but that isn't how it works in the real world. If it was, search firms wouldn't be a thing.

Over the years, some crazy stuff has happened for the Zips in Kalamazoo

Per his dad's tweet, Kato's now 4th on the QB depth chart.

1. Gibson

2. Irons

3. Jankowski(?)

4. Kato

Coach O Rod doing things #hisway

If anything it will be interesting to see the changes O Rod implements. Obviously he can’t make any major scheme changes in 7 days. But there might be some “Arth favorites” being replaced by guys that he likes better. Could Zips Grandma get her wish next Tuesday?

Based on the scrimmages in August and who took backup reps for Miami when Kato and DJ were still hurt, I don’t think Jankowski is 3.

After 6 years = Can't feel bad for you Kato

What more promises do you want?

BYE

Even if promises were made - and I know there's risk in using "just" stats, but Kato has by some margin the lowest completion percentage, lowest yards per completion, and he's gotten hurt.  I feel bad, because his college career is just about over (unless he has more eligibility he can transfer for).  But, if Akron's trying to win - and given the coach just got canned, they are - he's not the best choice to help do that.

That is how successful businesses work.  Did OSU hire a search firm before hiring Day, 'No'.  They had their succession plan in place.  A search firm may confirm the choice and look for more details on the potential condidate.  If Akron needs to use a search firm, then please fire Guthrie.  He will be more incompetent than Ianello.
