I will continue to love and support the University of Akron and Northeast Ohio. God Bless!!! It was a joke. If you have seen my posts, I probably take twice as many shots about Iowa as I do Ohio. I've spent 30 years taking a beating in the bantor category from my Ohio in-laws. Tom Herman left Iowa State's OC position to be a QB coach at Ohio State before becoming OC. Can you imagine the grief I took from BIL's who make the point that a position coach for OSU was an upgrade from being a coordinator at ISU. "Personally, I am glad you moved your wife out of NE Ohio. I do not want anyone in Ohio who would be stupid enough to be with you." This is a good one. Too bad that you actually meant it. If it was bantor, I would give you kudos. Since it was real, it is kinda sad. There are several people on the site who actually know me. They have welcomed me here for years. If they tell me to go, I would consider it. Your declarations, not so much.

If I actually cared enough about that comment to do a playful rebuttal, I'd just comment something about Iowa being nothing but cornfields and tractors A rather standard bantor response would be something like this Iowa State fan coming to an Akron fan site is the ultimate evidence that there is nothing to do in Iowa! We get this one often when we travel so well for road games and bowl games. Again, "nothing to do in Iowa," might as well travel. It's not true, but it's funny. And we can handle it.

GoZips86
Slow news on this front. I'm ready for the juicy speculation reports to come in! Searching for a new coach sucks because it likely means your team is trash, BUT it is kind of fun. A kind of fun I want at the moment but not again for a long, long, LONG time.... Just me? lol

Ok, I will try to lighten up, Francis. I just think that if you love OSU and were able to go to college, you should have gone to that school. I have worked with many people over the years who went to different schools, but when their alma mater played the Suckeyes, they would dress up in OSU gear. I had a very good friend who I graduated from the University of Akron with, asked if he could join me for a game. He met me in Lot 9 wearing Buckeye apparel. He got many negative comments and near threats over his outfit at the tailgate. I bought him an Akron Jersey to cover up his shirt. I just think your number 1 college love has to be your alma mater. It is for me and I am proud to be a graduate of the University of Akron. Speaking of triggers, there are many people on this forum who speak negatively toward Buffalo and Kent State. They are called many different names on this forum, which I think is worse than my Suckeye comments. Just look at the game threads, of which some are confusing. I hold no ill will toward these schools. I do not know any Akron graduates who root for Kent or Buffalo, unless maybe their spouse went there. I know several people who went to Kent, and I respect them. Thanks for allowing me to explain myself. However, after writing this post, I decided that I will not lighten up regarding the Suckeyes. Go Zips!!! Proud to be an University of Akron alumnus. 4

K-Roo
Coaching Candidates Triple Option in Akron? FORMER GEORGIA TECH HC PAUL JOHNSON Johnson is retired and going on 65 years old, but the last time Akron took a chance on an older coach in Bowden, it worked out. Going out and getting an experienced guy who can better handle the struggles at Akron might be in its best interest. At Georgia Southern, Navy, and Georgia Tech, Johnson compiled a 189-100 career record. Among those 189 wins is six conference championships and two FCS national championships. He was able to form this success by running the triple option. That is a scheme that can be difficult to prepare for in just one week. Akron is clearly operating at a talent deficiency. It will have to get creative if it wants to break recent trends and start winning football games. In that case, running the triple option could be the perfect place to start. Getting Johnson to come out of retirement might be difficult, especially without a lot of money to throw around.

Jim Grobe "resigned" (cough...snicker) from Wake Forest after telling the AD he wanted to switch to the triple option. The AD hired a creative coach in Dave Clawson and is now on the verge of making the ACC Championship. Keeping Arth for another season would be a better move than hiring Johnson and running the triple option. Keeping Arth for another season would not doom the program as long as failing with the triple option. Triple option is giving up on a football program.
LZIp
our 3 best pieces right now are likely a traditional QB and two WRs. It would be such an Akron move to go to the triple option.

Nebraska won a boat load of games running the triple option with Turner Gill, Mike Rosier and Roger Craig in the backfield and a bunch of human bulldozers on the line. I don't believe they had given up on football at the time.
