Watching thereplay this morning.

 

1) Ironic that PCCC's long sleeve shirts say "NO QUIT" when the guy that posted the video (Johnson) reportedly went home when given the option to run or go home earlier in the season. 

 

2) How was Davis not called for a flagrant foul when he threw X to the ground by his face on Santiago's 3?

 

3) Not sure where the announcers received their press notes (probably KSUcks), but they completely downplayed the entire story of the video by saying it was a freestyle rap. It was a legitimate, pre-recorded track that everyone knew the words to. 

 

4) Carry was awful all night. X really deserves a lot of props for how he played and handled Carry's annoying self. He is my least favorite KSUcks player ever - and I'm not sure it's even close. 

 

Potentially more thoughts to come although I'm at 18-18 and it was basically all good from here on out. 😏

I liked that the announcers down-played the video and didn't make it the story.  Of course, then they added, "Coach Senderoff will need to coach two separate 20 minute games".   As if his mind can work on that level.  He kept Carry, the a-hole turnover machine in the game for 40 minutes.

 

Good to see @LoyalZIPis alive.  Wondered what happened to him.

 

As for the flagrant, in watching the replay i thought i saw Dawson give a face palm to a Kent player who was lying on the floor.  Amazed how the refs handled the game.  

 

Also, in the replay, I saw the name "Bryan Trimble, Jr." pop up for a second in a graphic.  I'm sure Groce gave him every opportunity, but I would hate to be him this morning.

Another point I just discovered in the box score-  the Zips had fewer personal fouls than Carry had turnovers!  9-7 (and he actually had at least one other that was called a missed shot).  

 

The PCCC will of course see that as a vast MAC conspiracy.

I agree, but I wouldn't leave KJ Walton out of this observation. Different circumstances I imagine, but they both had opportunities to be a part of this team's success. And chose to pass.

Too much to say, all out of Likes, and still kinda tired as I rewatched the game after getting home from Cleveland last night.

 

So proud of this team.  This has become one of my favorite videos:

 

Groce & Co. coached their tails off all year, continually adapting their style to the puzzle pieces which they had.  They coached circles around KSUcks staff last night.  Circles.  John Groce >>>>>>>>>>> Pinky.

 

X outclassed and outplayed Carry all night.  The Zips exposed Carry's inability to sufficiently handle the double-team.  He was pressing and the Zippers made him look just awful last night.  It was beautiful.

 

Such an impressive, dominating win.

Alive and well @NWAkron! Was a long night, was too busy celebrating until the wee hours. Man what a sweet, sweet victory. Groce has put together an amazing coaching staff that put together one of the most impressive seasons and tournament runs I’ve ever seen with circumstances like this. So many teams would crumble, but we stayed the course. So proud of these guys, Zips fans are so lucky!

Anybody else really excited when Tribble hit his 3 pointer and then a little concerned when he took two more? Ha!! I believe he will continue to get better as time goes on.

X and the other guards repeatedly led Carry into the trap and Carry and Pinky failed to adjust other than Pinky eventually just moving Carry off of the ball.  I loved how the Zips adapted that trap, first using it against Sears a couple of weeks ago and then springing it on PCCC last night.

So, ummm, did anyone else wake up in an almost giddy mood with a stupid grin on their face?

I turned to my dad after his second or third attempt and said, "I love that he made one and feels confident. I also hate that he feels confident cause he's not a shooter." Also, his 4/4 free throws the other day were a miracle. 

 

Just reached the point in the replay where Carry skipped all the way down the court. What a special human he is.

I can't link it but everyone needs to watch Groce's interview on the ABJ website.  He's asked about the 2019-2020 team and starts choking up and talks about how they impacted the culture of the program.
