Perhaps most talented and deep team this season, with perhaps the most talented recruiting class on paper coming in. Situation is ripe for the program to jump up another notch. 3 Quote

zipsrowdy88 Posted October 13, 2023 Report Posted October 13, 2023 Is it crazy to say this is our best class in history? Certainly best since ALI-Greg-Mikal class Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted October 13, 2023 Report Posted October 13, 2023 The great thing is, when Groce leaves after this season, he can follow him without having to sit a year. I kid... Sort of... Is the year before a commit arrives on campus too soon to worry about him transferring? Or have I just been a Zips fan for too long?😄 🙃 Seems like a great catch. The reload after our 2024 Sweet 16 run looks to be fun too! 2 1 Quote

Blue & Gold Posted October 17, 2023 Report Posted October 17, 2023 Anyone on here have any inside information on why Hoban's Jonas Nichols chose KSUcks over us? Most of the time when a local b-ball recruit chooses KSUcks over us I just shrug pretty much knowing it's due to us not actually recruiting said player very hard... but losing out on Nichols was actually quite disappointing (to me). FWIW, I asked someone close to the coaching staff at Hoban who is well connected with Akron. They said good riddance. Quote

Blue & Gold Posted October 17, 2023 Report Posted October 17, 2023 Here's something else which really strikes me as odd. Look at the teams we either beat out or are competing with for our 3 commits & Chris Riddle (who has us in his final 5): Sharron Young: WVU, Rhode Island, Murray State, Drexel, WKU, Arkansas State, Winthrop, Appalachian State, Penn, Northeastern, Columbia, South Carolina, Mount St. Mary's, Radford, Ohio, KSUcks Richard Brisco: TCU, Nebraska, Manhattan, FIU, Albany, Buffalo, George Washington, Towson, Fairfield, St. Joe's, St. Bonny Chris Riddle: Illinois, Western Illinois, Toledo, Texas Tech, NIU, Nevada, EMU, Bradley, UNLV, Illinois State, DePaul, Indiana State, UIC, CMU, Portland Eric Mahaffey: No other offers What a stark contrast between Eric Mahaffey's recruiting and the other three. Idk what to think about it, just noting it as very odd. 1 Quote
Blue & Gold Posted October 22, 2023 Report Posted October 22, 2023 On my phone so unable to post the tweet, but it looks like Chris Riddle is going to announce his decision tomorrow. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted October 23, 2023 Report Posted October 23, 2023 I guess if he chooses NIU the Zips will still get him for his grad transfer year. 1 6 Quote

After the Zips lost to YSU by 30 points in that scrimmage, why would any player want to come to Akron? #JustGetToCleveland. Quote
RoyalBlu Posted October 23, 2023 Report Posted October 23, 2023 My guess is Zips or DePaul ... Akron only out of state team on his list, DePaul the only power conference team. All others pretty much the same. Quote
