Blue & Gold
I'm coming tomorrow and bringing a few friends with me. I know it obviously won't be as intense as KSUcks but I hope it's closer to a KSUcks crowd than the disappointing OU crowd. This team deserves it! Go Zips! Blue & Gold
Garvin Clarke was our 3rd leading scorer vs. KSUcks (8 points). His defense was one of the game changers. Hankerson only finished with 6 points, but was so close to scoring 8 points in the final 5-ish minutes alone... just had shots rim out. His shot looks good & he's still confident shooting it. Hunter had 5 and was sort of a no-show in the 2nd half. It'd be great if he stepped it up just a bit more. 8 point's be great... same w/ Hank. Enrique had 19 & 17. X put himself in the lead for MACPOY w/ 24 points & thoroughly outplayed Carry (who played all 40 minutes). UT sophomore guard Ra'Heim Moss may have the athleticism to guard X one-on-one. He's an explosive, solidly-built stud who I believe was being recruited by Michigan State as a safety or WR (IIRC) but chose UT for basketball. He played at Spire Institute & can jump out of the gym. UT sophomore guard EJ Farmer was one of the better players in the state his senior year coming out of Cleveland Heights (was a junior when Garvin Clarke was a senior). Averaged over 20 PPG his senior season (IIRC). He hasn't yet hit a stride @ UT yet but wouldn't it be our luck if he had a breakout game... UT senior forward Setric Miller seems like he's been at UT forever. He's big, strong, skilled, high basketball I.Q. & should give Enrique a better game than the KSUcks head case Chris Payton did. https://twitter.com/AkronEcho/status/1622777726384934913 I am unable to use both the link feature and have tweets embed, so you can follow the above link to a University of Toledo Athletics game day story. 72 Roo
Every butt in the stands makes a difference. I still believe ZNO can make a difference with the passionate and informed following on this board. If we all make an effort and invite a friend it will be an intense environment. I'll be there too. It will be great game. Support this gifted team while we have 'em. Go Zips!

Carry's scoring average is similar to last year, but his efficiency has been garbage. He's barely shooting .400 from the floor and is .271 from 3. Castaneda's competition, even before this game, for MAC POY is Rayj Dennis and Freeman IMO. Carry will probably make 1st team All-MAC, however, with how bad he's shooting, I don't think he's even deserving of that.
1981 grad
I think the last 2 games the Zips have been playing their best ball of the season especially offensively where they have struggle all year to be consistent. If the Zips can keep shooting over 40% from the field they should be competitive in every game. I thought everyone played well in the Kent and Buffalo game and Clark had his best game of the season. It will be interesting if they can keep this level of play.
Z.I.P.
The "official" UA vs Toledo preview seems to indicate the game has been picked up by CBS Sports Net. However, the intro to the preview still shows it on ESPN+. And my TV log for Tue afternoon HST shows Rhode I. at St Louis. Gee, I hope the preview is right. As does a favorite bartender of mine. 😉🤭 https://gozips.com/news/2023/2/6/mens-basketball-akron-looks-to-extend-winning-streaks-by-battling-toledo-1akron-gozips

The top says its on "CBS SPorts" then the game coverage says its on ESPN+. And the "scouting the rockets" section is talking about Kent State. If they actually gave out 500 taco bell tacos from the one across from infocision, they would have needed to place that order a month in advance. And there would randomly happen to be a "technical problem" today and they would be closed

zipsrowdy88
Really need to play good defense tonight. Toledo shoots the LIGHTS out from three. Need to run them off the line, make them beat us in the paint. Millner is a great guard in transition as well, just play smart Akron Basketball. Let's Groce Ball them to death here. Go Zips.. and go Tacos?
kreed5120
I'm starting to feel nervous for this one because @nwakron has yet to say he's not feeling good about our chances this game.

Go Zips.. and go Tacos? Toledo fan here…really impressed with Akron on Friday. I don’t feel like Toledo is lights out from 3…do feel like they fall in love with it at times though. Really their mid range game and efficiency with movement, allowing them to get good inside looks is when they’re the most dangerous. Should be a couple good games here in the next two weeks between the two teams. Much prefer akrons style over kent when it comes to the top tier programs in the league. LoyalZIP
As with pretty much every game for Akron, it will come down to keeping the pace in their control and continuing to play great team defense. Jumping out to another early lead always helps too, but you can't realistically shoot 70% for the first 5-10 minutes every single game. If the Zips come out cold, how will they respond? This is a great team to play after the craziness of Friday. The Zips have struggled to maintain 40 minutes of focus at both ends. That could certainly be the difference tonight. Go Zips! RooFan
Quick note... don't look ahead now... but... Akron comes into the game tied for the third longest home winning streak in the nation... Zags were leading the way for a number of years but lost earlier this year at the McCarthy Center... I have the Bruins with 21 and counting Kent with 18 and counting and Akron in at 14 and counting with Providence, Florida Atlantic, and Oral Roberts. https://stats.ncaa.org/season_divisions/17940/wl_streaks. If Akron wins out and loses in the final, do we get an at large bid? (LOL)

Prefer it's not at the JAR.
