Just saw an announcement that 40 more student tickets are going to be made available. Just be one of the first 40 students to claim them at The Corner Alley before the game.

So what happens if you're #41? If I was a student I'd rather know that I have a ticket before I drive up there.

In 2022 my group of friends were the first people not to get tickets at pizza 216, so we all frantically used code Rizzo to get the cheapest tickets then moved over to the student section

I've got 2 free tickets, section 107 row 2, for the first person who approaches me at The Corner Alley tomorrow and says the keyword "Rizzo"!

Man, you had a real opportunity here to have someone say something either really cool or really funny to you, and this is what you go with.

"Kent sucks"

"Hilltopper is the best ZipsNation member by far."

"Shamalamadingdong."

Something like that.

Bought two tickets for tomorrow using the code. I looked and would've paid double without it. Really appreciate her putting these out there for Zips fans.

I have watched a lot of Akron Basketball and cannot recall an Akron frosh making an impact his first year.  Whether it was Freeman, Big Dog, Ali, Zeke Marshall or anyone else it seems like their frosh year was ok but not stellar.  Has an Akron frosh ever won the freshman of the year award?

Looks like our game will start around 5-ish. Are we assuming whoever wins the tourney will land as a 13/14 seed?

It is listed as a 4:00 P.M. start.  With the 1st game starting at 11 and 2 hours per game that sounds about right.

30 minutes between games.

my Toledo friends are very shaky. Sleepy 11 am start vs a Kent Read team that is 5-1 the last two years in CLE.

Our boys need a fast start for a big boost of confidence.

Go Zips!

Zeke wasn't freshman of the year but he was impactful.  He was named to the MAC All-Freshman team,  appeared in every game and led the MAC in blocks.

Nate Johnson had a solid start to the year last year, but his defense really held him back later in the season

I grew up in Philly and still an Eagles fan and I watched them collapse after starting the season 10 and 1.  I never thought it would happen with the Zips.  Not very confident going into the game based on our recent play but just hoping for the best.

Thanks!!   I tried looking it up but could only find MAC player of the year.  That was 27 years ago and although I recognize the name I have no memory of his play.  It seems that Akron's first year impact players have all been transfers.

Going back a ways...Eric McLaughlin had a tremendous freshman season.

I think Robotham did well in his Freshman season too.

Robotham is the forgotten one because of the ACL derailing his Akron career.

His freshman year was 2014-15, which happened to be the best out of conference schedule I had forgotten about for Akron. We opened the season with UMBC, then played 4 straight P5 teams. Here were Robotham's stats in this games...

USC - W - 14 pts

Miami FL - L - 10 pts

South Carolina - W - 16 pts

Penn State - L - 18 pts

Imagine if we had him on this team.

I find myself with you. Love these guys but I’m having a difficult time getting excited about this year’s MAC tourney. Hope I shake this off by tip off! Go Zips!

Great memory!!  He was great his freshman year.  Then the knee injury and he was not the same player.  He shied away from contact and stopped driving to the basket.  I think he transferred out to Las Vegas, his home town and was not much of a factor on his new team.  Somebody indicated that Dawson is similar to Robotham.  He has also has stopped attacking the basket and has become a perimeter player this year.
