The underlying problem with the JAR is that it was built as a multi-purpose facility.  As a result, it doesn't fill any of its purposes very well.

The seatback seats are old and beaten as is their support structure. Time for an upgrade and to expand them to both sides, leaving bleachers on the ends.

If they do that, that likely means both sides would likely go to reserved seating therefore reserved seating prices.

No question.  I'm sure there would be a price jump but it might be worth it to have something that resembles a decent arena.  One of the reasons I've opted for the GA seating (other than being really cheap) is that the seatbacks aren't any more comfortable than the bleachers.

I wouldn't be opposed to paying for a cushioned chairback as well. I more so brought it up because many complained about ticket prices during the season.

Scarcity can create demand. I don't think I've ever bought a Zips football ticket in advance as I know I can just walk up to the gate and get one the day of the game.

If they Zips 5500 seat arena suddenly seats 4500, you're going to see more and more people look to buy tickets in advance fearing it selling out. This is good for attendance as they're now committed to going. People who plan to just buy the day of the game can be flakey.

Those ugly blue seats have been around for what 20-30 years at least? It's time for an upgrade regardless all student sections should be bleachers anyway.

20-30? 😉 I think they're the same seats that were there when it opened in 1983.

Whaaaaaat?! That's amazing!

I know. Imagine what PCCC fans are thinking...

"Man... Akron gets another player who knows that 61 is greater than 60..."

Finally found a replay of this game. This might have been my favorite Akron game to have ever seen in person. Electric atmosphere

I literally bruised my hand from clapping so much at that game, then had to play through the pain the next night vs KSUcks. First time that has ever happened!

There were a number of Akron fans sitting right behind the OU band.  By the end of that game, I'm sure they really hated us.

Shammah Scott breaks down his top five plays of the year. Cool video, hope they do a few of these

Great video!!!  Interesting that this was his first dunk in a college game and he was a junior.  He indicated that he exposed himself when he made the dunk.   If he is going to take the next step forward, he needs to expose himself more.  Watch video of Tribble.  He exposed himself about 5 times a game.  Need to see more of what is on that video for him to get playing time next year.  I hope he does it.  Seems like a great guy!!!

Toledo announced their full OOC schedule 3 weeks ago. I wonder what the hold up for Akron is?

https://www.toledoblade.com/sports/ut/2024/05/08/houston-purdue-headline-2024-25-toledo-men-s-basketball-schedule/stories/20240508083

They had to get their fans' minds off the March failures. Perfect distraction.

Several other MAC schools only have 1-3 games announced, and I'm assuming it's the other schools announcing those.

I think it would be a challenging task to get next year’s OOC schedule right. There is a lot of talent on paper, but how long do they need to play as a unit. Not to mention ironing out the rotations.
