clarkwgriswold Posted January 4 Author Report Posted January 4 It's like Michael Huger never left. 1 Quote
MDZip Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 Would not have guessed this but Sharron Young was the leading scorer by far. 17 points, next best was 11 (Shammah Scott). Quote
LZIp Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 Sloppy win, but I’ll take them anyway we can get them. The staff still seems to be trying to figure out rotations. Starting MMK was a surprise, but even with that he seemed to play very little. Looking forward to getting Harris back (I hope). He may be a big missing piece. Quote
RoyalBlu Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 WHAT'S THE WORD ON HARRIS. IT'S BEEN ALMOST A MONTH SINCE HE LAST PLAYED. Quote

During the pre-game interview Groce responded to that question saying that both Harris and Eric Mahaffey’s return are indefinite. I was hoping for something more encouraging myself. zipsrule Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 It's a road win in the MAC. It doesn't have to be pretty. Quote

Illini Zip Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 I do think Mahaffey will redshirt, but it sounds like he had a good offseason. Quote
gozips19 Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 When do we see JG give more minutes to Young? Tavari has a place on this team but the offense has a much better flow when the ball is in Youngs hands. 1 Quote

Illini Zip Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 Damn. Losing Harris hurts. We can still accomplish a lot, but I think our ceiling just dropped. 2 Quote
Illini Zip Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 I will really be rooting for Marvin’s continued/accelerated development now. He has an huge opportunity in front of him. Project MK-Ultra. Ha!! Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted January 4 Author Report Posted January 4 Well....damn. On a guard heavy team, the Zips could have really used Harris's height and skill set. Quote
Illini Zip Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 I believe Harris was averaging 5 rebounds per game. That would have helped for sure. Quote
Let'sGoZips94 Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 (edited) What is 2019-20 without X1.0 - that stretch 4 that can play the entire court? We had a bruiser combo guard, a slick point guard, multiple guards that could shoot, and a decent but undersized front court. It's a very similar make-up to what the current team is. Hopefully there is enough on this team to overcome the loss of Harris. Massive blow. Edited January 4 by Let'sGoZips94 1 Quote

Illini Zip Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 (edited) I am interested in learning more about Harris. I imagine he will be undergoing surgery since they ruled him out for the season. Let’s hope for a full recovery. Now would that mean he has 2 years of eligibility left? And if so, how do we get him to stay for those years. The guy already has multiple degrees. Maybe he could get into an internship program with a local business for credit hours or something. Edited January 4 by Illini Zip 1 Quote
Illini Zip Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 BG’s big guy, Marcus Johnson ended the night with 14 points. Which is good, but I thought our combination of big bodies (okonkwo, Lyles and Wilson) did a decent job of keeping him contained. Also, I wish Seth Wilson could have seen Lucas Smith play. Smith was a little taller, but Wilson is stronger and heavier. For someone fresh out of the rec. gym Smith could sure rebound. I think Wilson could do the same if he worked at it. Quote
