How many times are we going to have this conversation?

-JAR Sucks.
-The OU/Akron rivalry isn't what it was 12 years ago.
-UA Student body has literally more than halved over the past decade.

Why would we expect more?

This is true. We played them in the MAC Championship Game 3 out of 4 years from 2010-2013, so that built a pretty organic rivalry.

Groce made a good point about how this squad needs to learn to "step on the neck" of their opponents and not let up.

💯💯💯    I’m out of likes again. Good post.

Regardless of my views on the refs game management, the Zips control if they choose to play into it or fight back against it. And I agree, they need to get better at finishing games out strong. Focusing on the play in front of them and locking down the opponent regardless of score right to the very end.

It was also the same core players all 4 years. Cooper's class vs Zeke's class. OU's 3 tourney wins added to it as well.

The empty seats weren't very noticable. It's hard to miss the bad look of the empty areas on the floor directly behind the basket. The AD should get on this......oh, wait.

The students should get another section along the sideline

I still think they should give the students the four corner sections of blue seats and add the seats back behind the baskets for them, too. There weren't exactly a lot if people sitting at those high top tables last night. I used to be a season ticket holder in what is now the student section. I also know a few people in the center section are not happy about having their view blocked the entire game by standing students.

Maybe they should stand too!

Nah, students deserve more good seats imo. Only ones that consistently show up. Makes it a fun environment for everyone else too! Also, can't have the corner behind the visitors.

I do think something needs to happen behind the hoops, agreed. Looks small time

If they want to really be crazy they should give the students the first 4 rows all the way down one side, block off 4 rows behind it like Ohio state does. That would be tough to relocate STH with front row seats tho

They need to do something with the skinny section of upper level seatbacks. No one ever sits there, the price is almost double the cost of GA and there is usually a lot available in the middle anyway

I'm a graduate of both universities (hence by screen name) so it's the two games I look forward to most. But the last time I really felt energized about it was just before the cancelled 2020 MAC game. We're now even 5 years removed from that just about, and it's not like there's been a big reason for the Rivalry to have been reignited for anyone whose been on campus in the past 10 years.

Leave it up to GP1 to comment on attendance.

Well, it continues to boggle my mind that the Zips continue to draw such pathetic crowds for basketball games.

In the last 5 years, we have had three of the greatest players to ever wear a Zips uniform, yet attendance continues to be  abysmal every year.   In addition, we have a top 10 coach, and I do not mean in the MAC.  He is a top 10 coach in the entire country.  Also key to this equation is our NIL director.  College programs cannot survive without NIL in place.

So, while even I am not happy with NIL dominating college sports, the minimum every Zips fan can do is purchase a GA season ticket for $65 for the entire season.  That is less than $7 a game.  Unfortunately, the Akron community and Zips grads within 45 minutes of campus refuse. In my book you all get a ranking of Zero (out of ten).

Beat the Bulls!

Zips Win!

I was as fair as I can be. I could have said something along the lines that the only things missing in the areas behind the baskets are parallel bars and a pommel horse like in a junior high school gym, but I refrained.....
