3-point shooting over the last three games:

vs CMU: 5-18 (27.7%)

vs NIU: 5-21 (23.8%)

vs OU: 4-18 (22.2%)

Overall: 14-57 (24.6%)

And we knew that had to turn around tonight and it did not happen.  Nate is the glue that holds this team together when it has been rough going and it did not happen tonight.  We looked very stagnant and hesitant as the game progressed.  The good news is that we did not give up and outscored Ohio by 12 or 14 in the last 8 minutes.

My issue is they shifted the game plan in this other 2 games to secure the W in competitive games. This game wasn't close and they still refused to shoot the 3. Gotta break through this slump somehow.

Are MAC basketball games just this low energy from the crowd nowadays? I remember when I was at UA (2008-2013) we were bouncing off the walls in big games like this OU/Akron rivalry, and the whole crowd would be standing yelling at the top of their lungs...the Convocation just looks like a graveyard.

They had 6,700+ and the crowd was very loud. Not sure what you were watching.

Outscored them once they slowed down and were burning clock.  that's like CMU and NIU saying...hey we made some late 3s.

He's just not good. Either is seth Wilson. Please start Scott or young.

Scott is playing 4th most minutes on the team and Young is playing more than Hardman. Who starts isn’t that relevant on this team.

A wise Zips fan pointed out to me that the 2020 Zips had a head-scratching loss at BG as the season came to a close.  Tyler Cheese bumped an official, got suspended for a game, and Zips won handily at Buffalo next game with Cheese on the bench in warm up gear.

Step away from the bridges people.  These things happen every season.

The other MAC teams have figured out how to attack the Zips reliance on the 3 point shot.  It was all a matter of time.  This team has the coaching and talent to adapt to how they are now being defensed and will respond.  Groce, Ford and a staff will figure this out and the players have the experience, maturity and leadership to carry it out.

They've lost one game in 2025.  It's not time to shake up the lineup or the rotations.  Pay attention to who is in the game at crunch time, not who plays the first 5 minutes.  That will show you who Groce trusts.

The pressure of having the nation's longest winning streak is off their back.  Everyone on this board could see the quality of play, especially the outside shooting was trending downward.  Now that the streak is over it will be interesting to see if play gets better.

I just wonder what was going on with Nate.  We were just talking about him being the MAC player of the year.  He got subbed off with only 2 minutes gone in the game when usually he is the last started to hit the bench and does not come off until 8 minutes has expired.  I thought he might have been injured or sick but somebody indicated it was a coaches decision.  Three starters, Nate, Okonkwa, and Grey scored a total of 5 points.  Nate usually plays over 30 minutes and he played 18.  Whenever we needed a basket during the streak, he will score with a mid range fade away jumper.  That shot was AWOL.  I thought he played inspired basketball of 5 minutes in the second half when he drove to the hoop and got to the foul line.   I guess even your best player has a down game but that was totally unexpected.  Hopefully, this beating will be a wake up to the team that they need to bring their A game or risk defeat.  Looking forward to Tuesday.

While we mock the other MAC coaches and their programs, these coaches ARE D1 and have a competent working knowledge of how to compete against good mid majors like Akron.
