I've only lived in two states, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Naturally I have grown to DESPISE both OSU and PSU. Probably more excited about Penn State losing to both Oregon and UCLA, than I am about the Zips win today.

All these cocky and arrogant people who have never attended those schools are insufferable. I always say I'd rather watch Akron lose every single game than be a bandwagon fan of a school I have no connection to.

Well said! Precisely why I can't stand OSU and their fans. I have more respect and appreciation for those from Can't. Barely, but still...

Under the assumption we are favorites vs Kent and umASS (though there is no such thing as a penciled in win for us), can we get 2 out of the 4 vs Ball St, Buffalo, Miami, and BG to get to 6?

Assuming we stay relatively healthy, it’s possible. I feel like the toughest game left on the schedule is Miami — they’re better than their record indicates with Finn leading the charge. Ball State seems to be playing above their talent level right now, so that one’s probably a toss-up. I haven’t been impressed with Buffalo; they beat Kent by three and EMU by one in overtime. BG still can’t seem to figure out what they are offensively, and we tend to play our best football at the end of the season under this staff.

Well luckily they're absolutely choosing either 1 or 3

I lean to them choosing #1.

Yep this will somehow be the year we get to six - and then get denied bowl participation.

Zips get one of those four. If they are going to do that it needs to be next weekend. It will be Miami's second road game in a row. Akron pulls off an upset at The Big Dialer. 31-28.

It was probably posted on here before, but Joe said during his post game presser that we have to practice one less day than everyone else (and did so last year as well) due to this bs.

That may be the best outcome for everyone lol. Tangible progress by increasing wins from last season, no legal bills trying to get the bowl ban overturned, and no wasted expenses for a likely bowl game blow out.

I had better outcomes in mind before the season started.

There weren't going to be any legal bills.

Bowls are a no lose proposition. For schools like Akron, it's a nice reward for a decent season. If you win, great. If you lose, it doesn't harm a program and the loses are quickly forgotten during the Holiday season.

You gotta love Akron football fans and the people on this board!!!  We finally win a MAC game early in the season and we are talking about a bowl game even though we are technically not eligable.  Last week this board was talking about firing our coach.  When I was leaving the stadium I felt like taking a picture of our victory formation because I thought when is this ever going to happen again.  If we win next week, this board will nominate Joe for coach of the year.

For what it's worth I still have this team penciled in for about 4 wins, which is what I believe I had predicted at the start of the season.

Not disagreeing with you, but to be fair, that’s pretty much every team’s message board. Just look around the MAC — heading into this week’s game, CMU fans were talking about a possible 6-2 conference finish. After the loss, the tone completely flipped on their coaches and players. WMU fans were ready to run everyone out of town until they slipped past Toledo. NIU fans are calling for their coach’s job after nearly every loss. It’s just the nature of fanbases.

I’ve said this before, but as far as not being bowl eligible — don’t be so sure that sticks if we somehow get to six wins. The NCAA is becoming more toothless by the day.

I heard that too, and he didnt mince words.  apparently the "ACR?" penalty prohibits post season games and removes an additional day of practice weekly! (one off day was already mandated so we are only practicing 4 days a week vs 5 for everyone else we play

Of all the things he did or neglected to do during his brief UA tenure, that might turn out to be amongst the least egregious moves. Go Fordham (1-5, with a win over 0-6 Holy Cross).

Football at Fordham is an afterthought. Not much pressure from the alumni or community to have a big winner.

Couldn't that be said about athletics as a whole? They haven't even made it to the NCAA tournament for men's hoops since 1992.

If Akron can stumble to 5 wins that way it's good enough to take pressure off firing him, but not good enough to extend would likely be the best case scenario.

On the bright side of the JoeMo conversation, Saturday I saw a lot of fire from JoeMo on the sideline. It was nice.

He's got a freshman on the team this year who, though undersized, is the missing piece dual-threat JoeMo's been missing here at UA, and he's got a top-shelf dual-threat high school prospect committed for next year.

If that were the case, it’s pretty hard not to extend the coach who would have the most wins since 2017 and elevated the program in back to back years, especially with all that the program has going against it (and fwiw I think Joe plays a part in that too).
