The last couple years, the MAC was a detriment to the Sun Belt. This year, the Sun Belt is a detriment to the MAC. The only way the MAC/Sun Belt Challenge holds water is if it mutually benefits the conferences. Otherwise, I think both conferences would be better off keeping it to 1 game a year and reaching out to other conferences to create a Bracket Buster style event for the 2nd half of the season.

When I come across a game while flipping channels, I wish I had spent the few minutes spacing out to commercials or watching a tidbit of a movie I've already seen 500x.

The challenge is there are only a few mid-majors each year that provide Q1 win opportunities. Add in that the A10 and MVC already have a head-to-head competition then that doesn't leave many options. The idea isn't bad. I just don't know if it would lead to any better results.

 

Edit: I believe the WCC and MWC also have a deal, which would further reduce the options.

Why do those leagues having deals reduce the options for a separate, singular game in February? Plus the WCC and MWC are getting plucked after this year. Every mid major needs quality opponents. Somebody needs to make it happen.

I was just saying those leagues already have things in place so they maybe less inclined and if you exclude those 4 mid-major conferences there are very few mid-majors left that are top ~75.

I think we were ~45 when NET was first released this year. The Murray State loss dropped us ~20 or so spots and we have slowly climbed back up.

ESPN predicts the percentage chance to win each game. And currently the zips are projected to win out the regular season. (56% chance to beat Troy is the closest game) 

 

I think it is there is still a chance for a 2 bid MAC!

No thanks. It would be hypocritical of me to pound the drum against .500 or worse P5 squads getting into the dance, while simultaneously rooting for the champions of the Charmin Ultra Soft Schedule Bowl to get a bid.

I doubt the bylaws would allow such a thing. Even if it did it would almost certainly void the $2.5 million exit fee NIU is required to pay.
