It should be noted that next season the NCAA regular season is expanding from a max 31 games to 32. That would mean teams would have to sacrifice 3 non-conference games, not 4 from our current total in order to have a 22 game conference schedule.

I'll be honest, I didn't know there was a set max number of games. I just kinda thought everyone played around 30.

The fact that I'm rooting for Kent tonight makes me feel gross. But Miami needs to fall back down to Earth eventually.

Miami isn't Top 25 good. They'll falter to others. I don't want anybody in PCCC to have a smidgen of happiness.

Kent choked. OT in Portage County.

Can't do it.  It's like the Ravens versus the Steelers.

I wish both could lose. Really thought Miami was done, but it looks like they will pull another win out of their butts.

Let Miami keep winning. It'll make our win in Cleveland look better. Does seeding really matter? I guess we'll see how these next three games work out but no one really worries me to be honest. Of course anything can happen in Cleveland but there's no one that I feel like we need to be on the other side of the bracket of at this point

I agree there is no particular team that scares me moreso than others. There are a lot of great players in the MAC this year though that can get hot and take over games. It could be a wild weekend in Cleveland.

That Kent-Miami game was ELECTRIC. Great crowd. Miami traveled very well. It definitely looked every bit of a sell out. Kent struggled in the paint which I wasn’t expecting. By the end of the game Miami was crashing every possession and nobody could stop it. That was some peak mid major basketball. My ears are ringing.

I will say I think the top 7 teams in the MAC are a class above the rest, the 8 seed will probably be Umass or a directional school. The Thursday games all will be pretty competitive, I think the 1 seed will have a significantly better matchup than the 2 seed though

I thought Baby Huey was decent in the paint when they got him the ball.

As I see it:

Tier 1:  Miami; Zips; PCCC

Tier 2:  BG, Toledo, OU

Tier 3:  Buffalo; UMass  (maybe with Freitag they squeak into Tier 2

At the same time UMass has beaten Toledo, Boston College, and Florida State. I agree they're not as good as the rest, but they can still be competitive at times.

Nice story on Miami, but doesn't give enough Akron credit (steel sharpens Steele 😉), doesn't even mention the very close loss in Oxford and talks about the last team before Buffalo getting and votes in the AP ranking being Kent in 02. While correct, the 12-13 Zips team was ranked briefly in the coaches poll. Too much glorification for a team ranked 339 out of 365 in strength of schedule.

one of Miami's "good" wins was against Wright State, who lost at home to a "not good" Cleveland State squad.  that should move him down to 341.

20-0, yet only 6 spots ahead of Akron in NET who has 4 losses. They've only played 1 top 100 team all season and it was at home after a 2 week break from D1 basketball for said opponent.

Does anybody remember when Tiger Woods handed Justin Thomas an item on the course as a joke? If you look closely, it was actually Miami's 2025-26 basketball schedule rolled up.

Anyone saying Miami deserves an at-large doesn't know ball

If Miami wins 30 games and loses in the conference championship, I think they get an at large. It's really hard to justify not letting a 30 win team in and Miami has been able to get enough media attention to drive a push to a bid.

I still dont think they will win 30 games, but they are getting closer every day so who knows.

If UA is Miami’s best win, then their undefeated record is hollow. They haven’t played anyone, and it shows. Playing someone like Yale or Murray State would’ve answered real questions BUT I think it's likely they lose worse than we did.

Instead, if this is the model going forward, just schedule D2 and D3 schools outside of MAC play and call it what it is—and if a few D1 games are unavoidable, grab the weakest teams from the SWAC or MEAC.  Against a real opponent, Miami gets boat raced.  If UA played Miami 10 times, how many do you think UA would win?  I think it's north of six!!
