During the pre-game interview Groce mentioned that Hardman was playing sick vs. Miami. Did Groce say anything more about the Miami game? I turned it on late.

Zips have had some really bad passes tonight. At least one landing in the 3rd row. Lyles was jinxed by the Phelps when he talked about how well he has been playing the last 8 games. I cannot remember the last time I heard a 3 second call at a game. I thought they did away with that violation. (LOL) Scott is really playing well. We must have at least 10 points on fast breaks. Love Scott's reverse layup.

I thought Roberto Duran was "hands of stone" until tonight.
-
He brought his game today for sure.

I like the new CMU coach and the way he interacts with his players. He's "roster disadvantaged" but is doing a nice job.

Game 15- Central Michigan

It would be impossible for Lyles to play any worse. -
I laugh every time I hear Phat Phat Brooks. I'm 12.

Shammah on fire

Love Eric’s active hands getting in those passing lanes
-
Zips used to do that with Zeke Marshall. Drove me crazy. 🙂
-
Their 7 footer is at the top of the zone. It is unique that is for sure
-
It's worth noting that 1 game will get flexed to a 6PM start time and air on ESPN2. The game in all likelihood will either be Miami @ Marshall or Akron @ Troy. If the decision was to be made today it would probably be Miami @ Marshall just because Miami is still undefeated. We'll see how the next few weeks play out.

GP1 gonna be pissed

CMU has played some decent D so far, but as long as we get out quick in transition I don’t think it’ll be a problem

Tracking Roster Movement going into 2026
Zips1991 replied to catdaddyp's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
This is the biggest issue with the portal right now, in my opinion. We have all these players that we're identifying and developing, then they leave and we get nothing in return. The transfer fees would help build parity in college sports. But I think that's probably also why it's not gonna happen, because the big conferences won't let it. -

I know this would never happen but I wish the NCAA or someone would mandate theses changes to the portal: 1. If a player enters the portal and the coaching staff does not want them to leave, then the school who the player is transfer to has to negotiate a "transfer fee" to pay the school that the player is departing from. If a big school wants a kid really bad then they should have to pay up for them. Why shouldn't the school that developed the player get nothing back in return? 2. If a player and coach both agree that it's best for a player to enter the portal, then the player can transfer on a "free" and no transfer fee needs to be paid. 3.Only scholarship players can play in a game. This way players who wants to transfer out will know that they can't play next year if they don't get a scholarship offer. I'm all for kids getting the most out of their God given talent but this could help curb the chaos every year of the transfer portal and more kids might stick with their initial team instead of getting poached by a bigger programs. I know things would sting a lot less for us Zips fans if we knew we were getting something in return for all the players leaving and it could even help finance the football program. -
Miami had a man closely on Bowen even when the ball was on the other side of the court. To his credit, he is contributing in ways other than being a shooter this year. He's just streaky. My opinion is that his accuracy is directly related to his form. When he has time, squares up and is steady, it goes in. When he rushes and is drifting to one side or the other his shooting suffers. As for Evan, he's not in the lineup for his shooting. You can see now that the opponents know it and are almost daring him to shoot when he's on the perimeter. I think Pete Suder could tell you why Evan is in the lineup.

Evan is doing great. 4th in scoring average #1 offensive rebounds #1 steals My eye test thinks big Stank should play more.

I don't see it going away anytime soon. Millionaire boosters get to pretend to be sport owners without the multi-billion dollar price tag. It will only go away when booster fatigue settles in, but even then maybe a school like Indiana will see someone like Cuban slowdown on his spending, but there is probably another booster worth 100s of millions at some other school that will take his place. Some schools like Alabama, OSU, or Notre Dame have such a large fanbase that they will always be able to attract the corporate dollars to fund the program. If you see anything it will probably be the ~50 schools with the means break away from the rest and form their own league. You're kind of already seeing it with the B1G and SEC raiding the best teams from the former PAC-12 and Big 12.

TBF I'm sure not 100% who enter are expecting to find a better home. I'm sure some are entering because their coaches were very candid with them that they aren't cut for this level. Some also probably want to drop down to get playing time or prefer playing closer to home. It's hard to pencil in how many of the transfers entered expecting a payday or not.

I also believe he missed a game or two for disciplinary reasons as well if I remember correctly. -

I thought Jake would stay primarily because he has something to prove and last season he was not a real factor at the TE position. He has all the physical tools to have a good year and I wish him well. I also hope he stays injury free. That was not the case this past season. His leaving the program does not impact us that much.
