KSU to eliminate 19 undergrad majors. Due to lack of conferring degrees (<5) over a 3-year window. A couple of these programs should have never been majors to begin with, but the vast majority of these are serious areas of study.

Oh well....

I think the fact they don't have any competition from other FBS and more importantly pro teams helps them. Similar to the Dakotas in the FCS. Boise has seen explosive growth in recent years, but 20 years ago your options were either go to the game or go cow tipping.

The championship was played December 6 at First Energy Stadium. The best team lost. Damn!

I wasn't being serious. Boise State should be a tough job, though.

2025 NCAA Tournament
Reslife4Life replied to Zip_ME87's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
The video clip they just showed of the 1959 SLU championship was insane. It looked like they played on the equivalent of the intramural field behind manny’s in a mud pit -
They play in a metro of 850K, which is still rapidly growing, where they're literally the only show in town. They were well funded before, but now will even have more money at their disposal once they join the PAC-12. They've played in New Year's Day bowls on several occasions. Have had success under multiple coaches and those coaches have received big money jobs at P4 schools afterwards. IMO Boise St. is one of the best P4 jobs for an up and coming coach. It has good brand recogninition, well funded, and proven success across multiple coaches.

Good news is that, unlike some years, Zips can hang with any of these four CC teams. We are not far away.

Watching Xavier host Missouri State on TNT right now. Akron would run Xavier out of the gym. -

2025 NCAA Tournament
Reslife4Life replied to Zip_ME87's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Terrible error by furman to allow UW to go up 2-0. CB tries to bring down a ball with the bottom of his foot and pass to the goalie in one motion, UW player intercepts it goes around the keeper and the guy that gave up the ball doesn’t even try to slide to prevent a goal -
Looking forward to this game. The great Akron teams always had great guard play. Johnson and Scott have been playing very well. Our defense and rebounding has been our weakness and in our last game we rebounded the ball very well. This team has gotten better as Barre has improved and has received more minutes. I like Marvin's hustle and game but he is undersized at the 5 and just not strong enough against opposing centers with height. Would love to see another blowout win.

2025 Akron Zips Women's Soccer
TennZip replied to Z.I.P.'s topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
She did commit as a high school junior. She played high school soccer this year and was selected to the 2025 All American team. I will do some research on the club question. Edit- looks like she plays for Nanchoff team in Cleveland internationals SC https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-player-profile/hattie-yugovich/pid-159356 -
Akron currently 6.5 point favorites on DraftKings.

Gigantic coaching change in college soccer

I also need to add that we're extremely fortunate for our Zips Men's Soccer players who have committed to Akron thanks to Jared and staff. We have a number of players who have been here for 4-5 years; others who have come in and given us 3 remaining years; and others who have come in and made a difference with less remaining eligibility. All are greatly appreciated; All are FAMILY! Looking forward to the return of so many and to meeting and welcoming the 2026 newcomers. -
Gigantic coaching change in college soccer

Agreed @Let'sGoZips94. I've been critical in the recent past, but the college landscape has changed significantly, and Jared and staff continue to adapt. We are extremely fortunate for their commitment. Hopefully, UA continues to reward him as best they can within their means, and that fans, friends, and alumni continue to do our best to show our support within our means. I recently added to my contributions to the Akron Competitive Excellence fund for Zips men's soccer. Just a gentle reminder here if others want to contribute... I know any amount is greatly appreciated. If others are interested, I think this is the direct link for Men's Soccer: https://fundraise.givesmart.com/vf/CompExFundNIL/team/MSocc GO ZIPS!!! -

2025 Akron Zips Women's Soccer

I did not see Hattie on the 2025 roster. Did she commit as a junior and still had a year od HS? Also I am curious as to which club she played for? Women's soccer in the Mansfield area is not considered that challenging and to get her ready for D1 soccer she should get experience with a top club. Perhaps we will see her on the roster this Fall. I loved that she wanted to be at Akron. She felt at home and recognized the upward trajectory the women's program was focused on. -
I'm not sure what would make the UMass job so terrible. I would understand it if they were still independent. Also, who voted for Boise State as one of toughest G5 jobs? Lol
