  1. Past hour
  2. This is the biggest difference between Akron and a school like Wyoming. We have Ohio State less than 2 hours down the road, Cleveland State, Kent State, and Youngstown State all within an hour, and Toledo, Bowling Green, Miami OH, Cincinnati, and Ohio all in the state as public DI universities. This doesn't even include Dayton and Xavier as private but popular institutions in the state as well. The trade off is we have the pro sports - Browns, Cavs, and Guardians - 45 minutes north of Akron, so that's cool. However, all of this takes away from Akron, and it sucks to an extent. The War looks beautiful (and packed).
  3. Jashawn Ladd has committed to Akron per his Instagram.
  4. The wife of a guy I work with graduated from UW in the mid 80s and was a cheerleader. She still looks good even though she's lived in the greater Phoenix area since then and has a ton of freckles on her cleavage like aging Arizona women get. In any event, she goes back every year for homecoming and still loves it.
  5. Today
  6. Usually around 20,000 give or take a couple of thousand either way. When Wyoming hosted Texas and Nebraska a few years back they added 10,00 temporary seats to handle the Longhorn and Cornhusker faithful. War Memorial Stadium's capacity has been reduced to 25,000 something, down from 29,000 with the recent renovations. "The War", as we call it, had a peak of 32,000 seats 20 years ago or so, but the number has steadily been reduced with each renovation. Given that the State of Wyoming's population is listed at 576,851 according to the 2020 Census, I think they've right sized the War. UW is the only 4-year institution of higher education in the state so it's facilities are top notch because they don''t have to compete with another state sponsored university. The latest renovations to the "War"
  7. Eastern Michigan beat Wyoming both times they've played.
  8. Listen up Zips Fans: I do NOT want to pull a Jimmy Johnson on this one. However, THIS is the Game, IMHO will decide de the Season. As a Joe Akron, is this accurate? As a MAC fan, will this set the pace? Your thoughts below......
  9. It is so exciting to be talking about marginal rates 2 days before one of the most interesting and competitive football opening games. I'm pumped! Damn the fact that this is a sports forum. Bring on more economics. It is more relevant and exciting. Who cares if we have a legitimate chance to be bowl eligible, providing Goodrich can get the NCAA to rescind its ban. I bet Moorhead is glued to this conversation. I know I am.
  10. Hopefully it’s good game. In my opinion, Akron easily has the best stadium in the MAC. Just wish there were more asses in the seats! What is Wyoming’s typical home attendance?
  11. So you’re saying we’ve never lost to Wyoming, excellent!
  12. Zips are now ahead of both Dayton and Ohio State, making them the top ranked team in Ohio. 💪
  13. https://unitedsoccercoaches.org/rankings/college-rankings/ncaa-di-men/ The United Soccer Coaches have released their most current vote....and they say that the number 16 ranked Zips will host the number 10 ranked Moutaineers this FRiday night. Are the coaches correct? Will both of these 2 teams be receiving a top 16 bye when the NCAA tournament begins in November?
  14. Through the Zips first two games, they have scored 4 goals. All four have been scored by subs! Three of the 6 assists registered have been awarded to subs! Might Akron score more if the subs play more? Realize the sample size is small, even tiny, but it appears that one of Akron's assets this season is depth- as others on this board have mentioned. Might the team max that possible advantage by running the other team down, being ultra aggressive, and using waves of fresh legs?
  15. Glad to see the women squeezing out wins. Sometimes it won’t be pretty but the fall season has been a good start for athletics

  17. Wyoming has played a number of MAC teams over the past 20 years. The games have mostly been competitive and a few real nail biters. Personally I will have been to three Wyoming vs MAC teams when we get to Akron. I went to Wyoming at Ohio, Wyoming at Toledo, and now at Akron.
  18. I can't believe I have to continue to bore myself with this but here we are. The wealth of a society has to do with income gained from production and that income turning into purchasing of goods and services. There is no GDP if people aren't earning and spending money. The more money someone makes, the more they can buy. The more money someone makes, the less time they have to work in order to buy the things they need. Prosperous societies make and spend more than others. Prosperous societies also have workforce efficiencies that allow those who have bought all they want to relax, or it gives more time for those who want to make more to do that. https://www.aei.org/carpe-diem/data-reveal-that-the-average-working-american-is-better-off-today-than-in-the-1950s-and-wage-stagnation-is-a-myth/ Today is the greatest day in American history. Tomorrow will be better today.

  20. I hate that they don't list "others receiving votes" or anything like that. Makes it hard to tell if you're getting close. 😆 Also, I don't have the link but I saw Akron was up to 26th (first in "others receiving votes" section) in the College Soccer News poll today.
  21. Did she trip over a green dildo?
  22. Thank you for your analysis comrade. Do you really think that someone making $200k is wealthy? Lol
  23. The first thought that popped in my mind was, I wonder if she has injury insurance that covers the loss of business revenue.
  24. Shes currently on the injured list after falling at a WNBA game earlier in the summer...Red Panda! She's awesome!
