Coit was nothing special at Kansas. As I recall, he was a 15 minute/5 or 6 point a night guy. He's not capable of 40 points at that level and attitude-wise was not a fit for the Zips. His chirping at Groce to come get him while on the floor for another team was proof of that.

We have the first result of the tournament and it's from the Zips section of the bracket...Duke beats FDU 1-0 to advance to a matchup with Princeton.

It would certainly be a big "move" for his followership if he actually did break this. But...yeah this isn't the actual story.

Kansas replaced 5'11" Coit with 6'6" Darryn Peterson (son of former Akron standout Darryl Peterson) who has 21 and 22 pts in his first two collegiate games. He has been out with a hamstring injury but otherwise, they traded up IMO. Coit is a heck of a shooter but he's more of a liability on defense.

The NIU point guard I wanted us to try for went to Kansas and is now at Maryland? Good grief. How does Kansas not hang onto a guard capable of putting up 40 points? They must have guards who can put up 50.

For many years, I have thought about the same thing on billboards in and around Columbus trolling the brainwashed OSUcks zombies about our men's soccer program being the best in the state of Ohio.

We pick him off the scrap heap after Pitt ditched him and this is the thanks we get... If I want to say something nice about him - he played hard against BG. Guys like Mumpfield and Norton completely tanked their last games before hitting the portal.

It's impossible to compare our football to our basketball program. Thanks largely to Bud we're the 2nd best funded MAC basketball program (only behind UMass). Akron football is the bottom of the MAC in funding. If we didn't have the money to retain Tavari, Lyles, Scott, Young, not to mention sign Evan, Akron basketball would also be struggling. Maybe not to the extreme football has, but we wouldn't have had the success we've experienced either. In basketball if you find a diamond in the rough or one just happens to show up unexpectedly at open tryouts (Freeman) that dramatically raises the ceiling of your program as you only need 2-3 players to carry a team. That doesn't work in football where you have 11 starters on offense and another 11 on defense. Not to mention a few specialists. Even if you found 1 absolute star at QB he wouldn't have the same impact that a Steph Curry had at Davidson.

One man's destruction is another man's 8 point loss. 😁 CMU (7-4) has won 4 of their last 5 games, the only loss coming by 3 points to a WMU team that has won 7 of their last 8 games.

I wouldn't be surprised if more fall when the playoffs expand.

We need someone who can successfully coach at a D1 college level and can also successfully recruit at that level with handicaps. The handicaps likely require excellent evaluation of sleepers who wont receive major dollars elsewhere as Joe says happened with Gant this year- difficult job. We have a basketball coach who can evaltuate, recruit, develop players, and coach. I know nothing about softball but it appears to this layman that we have a softball coach who can do those things. We have a women's lacrosse coach who can definitely successfully develop players. We are about to see how good she is with evaluation and recruiting- but the signs are postive. So we know there are people who have the total package and some are at Akron now. Admittedly this is most difficult in the very visuable and money-laden world of college football but that is the task ahead for anyone who takes on the position of Akron football coach be that Moorhead or anyone else. Go Zips!
