  1. Past hour
  2. Good energy today.
  3. Eric Mahaffey takes the outlet pass to the rim for a sweet floater off the glass.
  4. Different guys each time. This team is fully bought in.
  5. It’s a shame we had to play Amani right away. With a redshirt year he would be a Junior today. 😔
  6. That’s 3 times we’ve been on the floor trying for loose balls, I like it
  7. very cool....that you were part of the very large Zip cheering section. It was great to see Zip Alum Ray Szabat as part of the crowd.
  8. Evan doesn't have a shot, but he has an offensive game. He can dribble drive with the best of them and that's going to be worth a lot of points this season. 28-13 Zips. 9 to go in 1H.
  9. Lyles is setting himself up for a long European career. Big Stank is way more active this game. Love to see it. Princeton needs the 3 ball. Limit that, and Akron should win going away.
  10. 18-13 Zips. Lyles off to another great start.
  11. To quote Vin Diesel in The Pacifier: They say war is Hell... 6-2 Zips in first 3 minutes of play. Akron defense is elite.
  12. What you're seeing is Pinky realizing his slow grind, ugly style won't work vs Akron, Miami, etc. He is adopting the run and gun style, but it remains to be seen if he has the horses in the barn to play a complete game on both sides of the ball. Relying on hot shooting is risky to say the least.
  13. Today
  14. The pace of play was ridiculous lol. Second straight game for Kent like that. Can’t get a true read on them yet
  15. I'm out of town today. While you are all enjoying the game, I'll be chasing around a group of 5 year olds. Make sure to make up for my absence and please post a lot of updates.
  16. He's a career 20% three point shooter so I don't have high expectations for that aspect of his game but he contributes in so many other ways that I think he's going to be an integral part of the Zips' success this season. On top of it all, he's just a nice personable kid, as is Eric. As an aside, the other OSU transfer the Zips were rumored to be pursuing, Austin Parks, had 5 points and 3 rebounds in 18 minutes in Toledo's opening loss to South Alabama. We got the right Buckeye.
  17. It's obvious that that this team has outstanding on field leadership - that will serve them well in BE tournament. Congrats, Zips. Such a fun game to watch.
  18. In the 2nd half Mass reminded me of past Akron teams that were totally outmatched at every position and almost every opposing play was a positive one and we would shoot ourselves in the foot when we did make a good play with a stupid penalty. I give the Mass. coach credit. They finally get a stop in the 2nd half and their defensive back gets a penalty for taunting and Akron keeps the ball. The coach sent the player to the locker room, do not stop at the bench, do not keep your uniform on, just head to the showers. How many times did we see stupid personal fouls from Akron players when the team was winless and getting killed. Taunting when you are 0 and 8 and down by 21 points. Hit the showers.
  19. Rewatching this game I have to say Evan is a really good piece for us. It might not always show on the stat sheet, but he hustles on defense. Makes good passes. And does the intangibles. Because he has a physical stature similar to Lyles I was crediting the wrong guy at times. He did miss a wide open three, but I like that he didn’t hesitate in taking it. The form looks good too.
  20. My sources say we'd get the waiver removed if we get to 6 wins
  21. Seems like Akron athletics in general are on a revenge tour. Basketball with JMU & Princeton; soccer with UConn. Go Zips!
  22. I missed that comment, but I didn't miss the A flag flying when I approached the stadium. It was great to be welcomed by the large Budler contingent.
  23. I’ll be doing my part bringing one more person than usual with me, might be a sell out because of me
  24. I caught that too. Thought it was an interesting response.
  25. JoeMo made an interesting comment in this week’s presser. Joe Dunn brought up how this is the first meeting between two former Fordham QBs coaching against each other (Carney played there), and Joe said “it may be the last”. Sounds like some politicking to me.
