  1. Today
  2. ESPN article about possible visa difficulties for international players given new immigration policies. This could impact the Zips somewhat, but could crush teams like Marshall, West Virginia, Pitt, Seton Hall, Vermont, and many others that have heavy non US rosters.
  3. Having the bodies alone should be enough to get us over the hump in some of those close games we didn’t have the depth to pull out last season. Let’s hope the squad has a solid summer to gel as we go into year 3 of the Gensler era. Feel like this will be a very telling season on the direction of the program.
  4. Not academically eligible sounds more like our football team's recruiting strategy.
  5. Only one big was signed during this announcement and the earlier one. Is that enough with who we have returning? I think in the women's game it is difficult to recruit good bigs, which we need.
  6. They'll enjoy not having to spend money on a bowl that their probably 2-10 team wouldn't get to anyways.
  7. Coach Gensler has completed his reload of the roster. Hopefully there will be no repeat of last years injury riddled season. https://gozips.com/news/2025/6/4/akron-womens-basketball-adds-four-to-2025-signing-class?fbclid=IwY2xjawKuXQFleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHu-k_dsHV4L_xANyfB7Iqwcg_66u5VVDwi_xESJeDzgRkg1NSCHZvaO54VSv_aem_6ElaCRWeYYOno7TtI7f9Bw
  8. All teed up for Groce. Let's see if he whiffs again.
  9. Depends ... Zips might send a guy to prep school and resign him in October. Miami and a few other programs have done this recently to get a kid late. (Miami kid just spent a year at Spire. Got bigger and stronger, too.)
  10. We don't have any scholarships available, do we?
  11. Haven’t heard anything. But this could be a Nate replacement… long shot, but reel him in!!
  12. Yesterday
  13. Miami's Dequan Finn 👀
  14. This is actually a move up for Camden. At Akron his main job was development(fundraising). This new position is better suited to what he showed after Charles departed. External operations is more about the day to day operations of the department. It also reunites him with his former coworker who is the AD at Omaha. It's also much closer to where he grew up in Missouri.
  15. I agree with you. New AD’s always bring in “their guys.” If you are a Guthrie underling your resume and profile was updated the day he bolted for Fordham. i thought the guy had potential. It’ll be interesting to follow his career over the next several years.
  16. ...or feeling rejected in the hiring process of the new AD.
  17. Didn't he have a similar title at Akron? It seems like a lateral move on the surface. I know there were comments about what Akron was achieving with a very small support staff. I wonder if feeling overwhelmed play a part in his departure.
  18. Camden seemed to be a pretty big part of the renewed energy around basketball last season.
  19. Seems like price gouging to me. So it's either a carton of eggs or a Zips home game? Highway robbery.
  20. Last week
  21. Great schedule so far, no doubt.
  22. I think that the Zips alternate years on Big East Eastern Division opponents...(always play the 5 other teams in Big East Mid west and 3 games against Big East Eastern teams) in 2023, the Zips played Connecticut, St. John's and Seton Hall Those 3 teams have already released their 2025 schedules and the Zips play all 3 teams in 2025. In 2024, the Zips played Georgetown, Providence and Villanova. Villanova announced their schedule today and the Zips are not on their schedule. 3 big east Midwest teams ..(Xavier, Butler and Marquette) have released their schedules.... so....of the 10 games announced so far, 6 of the games are conference games. The 2 remaining Big East conference games....will be against Midwest foes Creighton and DePaul. I would anticipate that it will be a while before DePaul releases their schedule. DePaul had to announce a tragic event yesterday involving a player that started in 16 games for them last year. I am sure that all of us in the Akron zips soccer community want to extend our deepest sympathy to the family of this young man and to the coaches and the players of the DePaul Men's soccer community. https://depaulbluedemons.com/news/2025/6/2/athletics-depaul-university-mourns-the-loss-of-student-athlete-chase-stegall
  23. Also our big east conference games against the East Division do not appear to include Georgetown (3) or Providence (18)
  24. If opponents perform similar to last year, there are several Tier 1 RPI wins on the schedule. OSU(1) WMU(30) SLU (37) Cornell (25)were all top 30-ish RPI teams last season. Plus I’m sure a conference opponent or two will be high RPI rank. Big opportunities for the youthful Zips roster.
  25. Wow, no more complaining about the OOC schedule! 🤣
  26. i have a source, who has contacts in the ticket office, and he told me that the upcoming schedule features a team playing in every game that won back to back conference tournaments and was undefeated at home last season.
  27. I missed this Big East news release from yesterday...(I just added Western Michigan news release above) this post is about Seton Hall Akron will play at Seton Hall on Friday October 17 https://shupirates.com/sports/mens-soccer/schedule Friday, September 5: @ Ohio State Tuesday, September 9: vs. Western Michigan Friday, September 19: vs. Connecticut * Tuesday, September 23: vs. St Louis Saturday, September 27: @ Butler* Friday, October 3: vs. St John’s* Tuesday, October 7: @ Cornell Friday, October 17 : at Seton Hall* Saturday, October 25: at Xavier* Saturday, November 1: vs. Marquette*
