New Mexico and the Transfer Portal On Football: "To fill the losses, New Mexico football has added 129 new players over the past two years after back-to-back coaching changes, including 72 new faces this year. Just 15 players from the 2023 team are still here, according to the school." On Basketball: "Lovo hired Eric Olen from UC San Diego off an NCAA Tournament appearance, and every single player on the 2025-26 Lobo roster is new to the team. βI joke that Coach Olen walked into his first team meeting and there was nothing but chairs in the roomβ

Full 90 complete. Nil nil draw. Akron had slight statistical advantage on the scorekeeper app, though no possession % given. -

65 minutes played in Ft W. Scoreless match, but Akron now leads 14-8 in shot attempts. Emma King has like 7 shots for the Zips. -
Great way to drown our sorrows! A game will be cheaper than going to a bar so students might as well come to the game

Halftime in Ft Wayne. Scoreless game with basically equal stats. The Mastadon(na)s were a about .500 team last season, but lost I believe only twice at home. Let's see how the second 45 goes. -
Zips first non-conference game that COUNTS! Vs Purdue -- Ft Wayne. No more Indy? π€ https://gomastodons.com/sidearmstats/wsoc/summary;team=away?fbclid=IwQ0xDSwMLS7NleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHuFknEwg8_Y6yQ0NkpuZXJFmCUL8r6lOwLp7XjU55LqnDjD9Xs3xwQ_P5e30_aem_7vglJcu3aGUQ_TivYEHrRQ

2024-25 Post Mortem and Looking Ahead to 2025-26

Too bad the Vegas game (12/13) against Murray State isn't 3 weeks earlier. A Zips/Browns trip to Vegas would have been epic. -
Tough player, Docking. One of those guys with whom not to mess.

Second Exhibition Game - West Virginia Tech

Thanks to you and nice person at the game for the updates! Glad to see that Bahur and Alem were involved in the goals as I thought both played well on Saturday. Based on the starting XI being the same for both matches (other than GK), it seems like that may be set, but as we know, subs are important in college soccer. While we may not have as many clear cut stars as last year (Emil, Dyson, Malik, etc.), hopefully the overall depth is better and that can balance things out. -

Congratulations to former Zip Shaun Docking for an incredible coaching career at Coastal Carolina. Long time Zips soccer fans will remember that Shaun Docking was a junior (key contributor) on the outstanding zip team that lost in the 1986 NCAA final. Great player, great coaches. Best wishes for a happy and successful post coaching career. Darn good ZIP !!! https://www.wmbfnews.com/2025/08/13/i-have-nothing-fondness-great-memories-long-time-ccu-coach-retires/

I suspect this match will mostly be newer players and those further down the "depth chart", as there is another match on Friday. Those going to the match tonight, please share updates as I will not be attending. Midweek preseason matches against NAIA teams do not make it appealing for a 45 minute drive each way. π -
This post is not about a former zip playing professional soccer now... but Adam is a hard working , smart young man. Adam will do a great job scouting for this professional soccer team. Congratulations and Best wishes to Adam. https://westfaironline.com/fairfield/ct-united-fc-names-director-of-scouting-general-counsel/

2025 Rankings and RPI thread

A heads up..... I am not on twitter....so I am not likely to see this news first .... last year, the regular soccer season started on Thursday August 22nd last year, the Big East mens soccer coaches poll was released on Monday August 19th. With this years schedule starting on Thursday August 21, I would expect that the Big East mens soccer coaches poll will be released on Monday August 18th. I expect that Georgetown will be the pre season favorite to win the Big East. -
Akron starts off the Henderson escapades with a 1:00 p.m. contest vs the Fighting Murray's. BTW, wasn't Jack Jones some sort of cabaret singer? Does anyone remember him in Sin City? https://share.google/A2KMI32PXm2jdwYMx

Interesting list. A lot of those teams have turned things around to say the least.
-
Who ever did that list must of over looked the MAC. Both Kent and Eastern should have made it with 608 and 630. There are probably others but i knew those two have been historically bad.
