  1. Past hour
  2. I have never heard of college soccer source they predict that Akron will be seeded #15.... with Akron hosting the winner of Marshall vs. Cleveland State next Sunday https://www.instagram.com/p/DRJOsKtDQcb/
  3. fitting venue for Kent
  4. Completely agree. I just think the venue is cool. Ceiling looks low, but otherwise very unique.
  5. I hope not. The bracket Kent found themselves on looks miserable. These tournaments are one of the few times we have an opportunity to play quality competition on a neutral court and I feel we should take advantage. Radford, CSU, and Wright State are all programs we can schedule any season with ease. In fact, Radford is so pathetic we would just pay them to come to the JAR without offering a return game. Edit: The Mountain Division bracket would be appealing, but they only place power conference schools in it.
  6. Today
  7. I wonder if the Zips will ever play at the Greenbrier? We can say hello to Rob Fulford. I liked him.
  8. Those incessant f-ing drums and chants...please tell me they won't ever be used again.
  9. Buffalo is 4-0 including wins over Southern Miss., Green Bay, and DePaul 👀
  10. Yes I agree. Liked everything about him until he gets to a spot to get a shot up, and then just... Doesn't
  11. I want Stankovic to be more aggressive on offense. His size and athleticism get him to good spots on the floor, but he doesn't look for his own shot enough. I am sure that will come with more time.
  12. I yelled at Bowen twice for ugly turnovers. LOL. I think Sharron comes around. He just had a rough night. I love Amani's work ethic but he is what he is. He's not a quick twitch big jumper and he's only 6'7"- 6'8". He's always doing to struggle a little against larger skilled big men.
  13. The final (I assume?) Top Drawer poll of the season is out and Akron is not in it. https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-national-rankings/men I do not see a College Soccer News poll for this week.
  14. I really think they have a chance at success in this tournament. The field is decent but not overly strong. Charleston is 2-2 with with wins over South Carolina State and Tusculum (one for Captain's list!) and losses to Liberty and Florida Atlantic. Evansville is 2-2 with wins over Henderson State and Oakland City and losses to Purdue (by 31) and Middle Tennessee. Green Bay is 1-4 with a win over Ripon (another one for Captain's list and losses to Kansas, Buffalo, St. Thomas and Minnesota. Iona is 3-0 with wins over Hofstra, Kansas City and Fordham. Oregon State is 3-0 with wins over N. D. State, UIC and North Texas. UMASS is 3-1 with wins over Brown, Rhode Island College and Albany and a loss to Marshall. Yale is 3-0 with wins over Navy, Quinnipiac and Stony Brook.
  15. Honestly, I don't think we should. That's close enough that the head-to-head results should be the dominant factor.
  16. The ceiling is very high for the 2025-26 Zips...if they quit biting on every pump fake and fouling 3-point shooters.
  17. As of monday morning RPI has Akron at #13, Uconn at #15. That'll be interesting to see if we get seeded higher than Uconn
  18. We can never seem to get over the hump at these tournaments. After our first 4 performances I think it is well within reach we can go 3-0 this weekend, just gotta come out ready to play like its a home game
  19. Watching the game I thought Bowen played really well. It seemed like when he took shots they were timely and they went in. After looking at the stats he only went 2/4, but when we play games like this if he can make those looks at a consistent rate it is exactly what we need. Also I love watching Marvin play, obviously being matched up on a guy almost a foot taller than him rebounding and affecting shots is gonna be an issue. But what I like most about him is that he is just a pest on defense, recorded 2 steals in 13 minutes. If I were to make a comparison to someone, I would honestly compare MMK to Remi Agunbiade of the soccer team, just a super high work rate trying to help their team in more ways than just the obvious
  20. Helps when their competition is as weak as it has been. Cleveland State beat D3 Capital by 1, lost in buzzer beater fashion to a really bad Loyola team, and they were so bad vs Northwestern the Evanston police started a missing persons search for the whole team. Kent beat them by 7 and let them put up 95. The UNCW game, which is supposedly a good win, didnt feature much competition for Gillespie. UNCW's big wasn't much to write home about. Based on these early performances by Kent, I think they'll be ~.500 in the MAC. EDIT: Didn't realize Kent plays Cleveland State again later this week. What a joke their schedule is.
  21. The Zips head off to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands next weekend for the Paradise Jam. The Jam includes, Iona, Oregon State, Evansville, Charleston, UMASS, Yale and Green Bay. The Zips open up Friday against Iona. The Gaels are currently 3-0 and play Princeton Tuesday. If the Zips beat Iona, they will play the winner of Evansville/Oregon State on Sunday. Lose and they play the loser on Saturday. The tournament ends Monday. It would be sweet to make it through the bracket and take revenge on Yale for the title.
  22. KSUcks' Gillespie has been a monster so far this year
  23. The loss to Purdue didn’t affect our Kenpom rating too much. 79
  24. Strong optimism for the MAC to start the season. Murray State looks like it will be a great matchup. Yale could be an opponent in the Paradise Jam.
  25. Lyles has struggled to rebound against talented teams with size. In 59 total game minutes against Purdue, Arizona, and St. Marys (both last season, of course), he has 6 total rebounds. This is part of why I wish they would've given Barre a look earlier tonight. He didn't record a rebound in his limited time, but I at least saw some physicality from him in the paint. Overall, I'm happy. They didn't get embarrassed and I don't think we will see another team that good this season unless we reach the Sweet 16.
