  1. Ya, lets stop with the gyrations. If they have to 'drop down' and play a second FCS(1-AA) team just to TRY to get a bowl bid what message does that send about the progress of the program or lack thereof? What message does it send to the players? The fans? You can not assume a win at Nebraska. Hope but not assume. Lets win at least 2 of the last 4. That means you have to beat at least one more quality team,NIU,OU or EMU. Thats legit. Walk in the front door.

  2. I can't see it happening because it would cost at least $250,000 to bring a team to Akron, and that isn't in the budget. Especially with our Nebraska $1,000,000 not being a sure thing. I think 94Grad has it right...take care of business with the remaining 11 games and earn the bowl eligibility. Don't beat BG and a 1-AA program and try to "buy your way in." NIU has a good chance to be a repeat of 2017's OU game. If the offense can show up. We have a mid-tier-Big10-level defense, and an offense that really hasn't shown up since Northwestern. It's time the O pulls it's weight.

  3. Do we really need a 12th game? We have 4 games in NIU, EMU, BGSU, & Ohio to get 2 victories. If we can’t get 2 than we don’t deserve a bowl & who we going to find FBS we could beat? And, what state of mind would the players be in if they had another game December 1st that isn’t MACC? I think we can get 2 to be 6-5 & go to the Bahamas Bowl (personal preference)

  4. CK's is very fearless, all good though. I hope that Sunday "hold on to the ball" practice the Zips had pays off for some of the forecasting. @ziptrumpet87 "D scores more points than O" @Blue & Gold "No TD's scored in the game" @Dr Z "Score goes over 38.5 by a td or more" @NWAkron "Zips commit no turnovers" @zippy5 "we don't have a fumble" @Captain Kangaroo "Jeremiah "Boogie" Knight dances not once, but twice in the endzone as the punt return team leads the Zips to victory" @zipsoutsider "Zips have zero fumbles" @Lee Adams "Sutton Smith has three sacks" @ZipsVoice "announced attendance over 17,500" @Section210Zip "The Zips will finally win the booth review battle at home "

  6. Good Doctor, I agree with you on your point regarding KD. I shared the frustration you spoke of, but looked to KD to find solutions. I felt he was fully capable of doing so. The football situation is very different. You, TB and most postors agree the offense needs fixed. So who can do that? It's the coaching staff. The responsibility is squarely on their shoulders. No member of ZNO is being disloyal by asking them to fix what needs fixed. Personally, I want TB to stay. I like the guy a lot. But first, and most important, I also want him to show that he can fix things.

  7. Yes, I agree there were some that wanted Dambrot replaced. The number was much smaller than the ones wanting Bowden gone. You can't please everyone. Personally, I have no problem replacing a head coach every 3-4 years if him having success at Akron is what caused his departure. People act like that's somehow a bad thing. Since 2010 NIU has had 5 11+ win seasons and only 1 losing season. In this same time frame they have had 3 different coaches. Sign me up for that. Toledo is another program that has had success under multiple coaches. You keep referencing parity, but every time Akron plays the top teams in the MAC, we get smoked. In parenthesis is what year that coach was in their tenure when game occurred. Meanwhile, here we sit in Bowden's 7th year and we're still the 5-8th best team in the MAC. The same that we were in year 3 of his tenure. 2018 - Buffalo 24 Akron 6 (Leipoid 4th year) 2017 - Game 1 Toledo 48 Akron 21 (Candle 3rd year) 2017 - Game 2 Toledo 45 Akron 28 (Candle 3rd year) 2016 - Western Michigan 41 Akron 0 (Fleck 4th year) 2015 - Bowling Green 59 Akron 10 (Barbers 2nd year)

  8. The defending A-10 10th place champs invade Akron? Playing at a high school gym? Sounds too good to be true? Heard nosebleeds are going for $125 bucks on StubHub. Gonna be awesome!

  9. Tough call. At this juncture, we aren't even sure who's on the team or starting. Tough to gauge these kids from brief film clips in a dark high school and juco gyms. I certainly think this team will be more athletic and deep than last year's, but last year's team was pretty bad and thin. I don't think we'll see much Kostelac or Smith this year as they'll slide down the depth chart with the new additions. I think Sayles is poised to be a good big man and the best of the low post players. Poke will bring energy and effort while Riak's main contribution will be on defense and on the boards.

  11. According to SI, our Zips are 135th in the country (3rd in the MAC)! https://www.si.com/college-basketball/2018/10/31/college-hoops-rankings-every-team-kansas-duke-kentucky This is the first step towards that AT LARGE bid!

  14. That's right about where I'd have them ranked pre-season, too. Side note: Nevada is 6th on the list, Clemson 24th, and Marshall 65th. There are also several other teams we could play in the Cayman Islands that are ranked nicely on the list.

  16. Yes! That and big crowds in the stands watching quality Zips performances (players and coaches) on the field and winning.

  17. I watched their game with BYU. They solely rely on their defense and their line is scary. They don't have an offence. They try to just manage the amount of possessions you get and try to keep you backed up on field position. They only pass because they have to, just to try and open up the run. They did lull BYU's secondary into being out of position a couple of times but the NIU receivers dropped the passes. The game came down to a couple of penalties. BYU was called for pass interference on 3rd down that lead to the only scoring drive NIU had. BYU had a 1st and goal in the 3rd quarter but had back to back false starts that lead to the 2nd FG. NIU is similar to our 2015 team in that they play their own game and let you lose it for yourself.

  18. I get that it's kind of a homecoming for KD, but in my gut, this just doesn't feel right in that it gives him an unfair advantage in that school. I remember there being a rule that high school teams can't play in college venues during the "dead period" and that's not the case here, but this just has a bad smell. Not saying there's anything sinister going on here, it just looks bad. Good thing Lunden McDay is already committed to OU. Can you imagine the questions if he decommitted sometime after this game and ended up at Duquesne?

  19. I hear ya but look through the posts from the past. MANY (maybe not you) said Dambrot needed to go because he couldn't "take us to the next level". There were multiple posts about 1 and done in post season, embarrassing losses, etc. Hey bud, I loved Dambrot and my post is in no way a disservice to what he did for us. He is a friend and I was happy to have him as our coach, sad to see him leave. I just don't understand what the "next level" is. You have the power 5 Conferences and then everyone else....Being in the MAC, you hope to knock off a marquis team in the 2-3 chances you get every year. Once you get in to MAC play...any team can win, the parody is ridiculous. In an attempt to get to the "next level" you can hire a hot shot young coach who will be gone in 2 years and fall in to oblivion or respectable coach who will stay (i.e. Solich at OU, TB with us). Just sayin'......be careful what you wish for.

  20. The football team needs to play like they did against Northwestern the rest of the season. Calling all two deeps, please step up and win its in you, please stay focused! Also there are a lot of undisciplined MAC football players its just not UofA.

  22. • Lako went from (undersized) walk-on to MAC defensive player of the week. • Brian Bell has a hamstring issue. • NIU has a great defense, and they score just enough to win. They don't care about stats. • We went back to basics on Sunday practice, how to hold on to the ball. • NIU leads the league in sacks #15 is one of the best at it. • NIU blitzes through the run lanes. • You can pick up stuff watching a game live (BYU vs NIU) rather than the tape because announcers can give away stuff during the broadcast. They get to interview the coaches during the week.

  26. The schedule on Duquesne's website now says the game will be played at St. V.

  27. I'd agree with this in most any other case, but my biggest beef is Duquesne showcasing its brand to the recruits in our area, especially when they aren't going to be playing us.
