Thanks, Dre. I think that’s where we all are. I know I have nothing but love and respect for Terry and will be eternally grateful to him for digging us out of the Ianello Abyss. At the same time, I’m ready for a change and I think we’re all in agreement on that. Thank you, Terry. ??3 points

I will be there with a former Zip from Charlotte and one from Phoenix. I understand ME_87 will also be in attendance. We need to have a pub for a pregame Zip rally. If the university doesn't set one up it will far on your shoulders being a local. We will be counting on you3 points

As long as he is South of the Mason Dixon Line. I'm sure he will be fine, and this will be a rough holiday for his staff and their families.2 points

That is such lazy ass writing. "deserve credit" "self inflicted wounds" "inability to make shots" "progress is stalled" He writes like those guys who blog for MAC Hustlebelt. How about: " Senior Jimond Ivey lights up the arena with 25 points and 12 rebounds and the Zips defense stymies Detroit Mercy"2 points

don't think he should be giving any one tips on "style." how many assists did Akron have compared to Detroit? 18 to 4 or something like that. I consider that plenty of selfless style.2 points

Nothing like a 7 minute time out for some silly contest in the middle of a run. Nice win. I haven't seen an example of daddy ball like that since my kid played 5th grade basketball. Davis's kid must have taken 30 shots and daddy loses his mind and he gets a T when the kid gets called for a foul late. Well done dad. Lots to like about the performance but still some things to work on. Mercy is on the level of a bottom third MAC team. A good test this early, but 2/3 of the MAC teams will be better. I hope Riak won't be out long. They could use him. If I see Jayden Sayles turn to go for a rebound and not put his body on an opponent's body one more time, I may lose my mind. It seemed to take them a little while to find that hole in the zone, at the elbow with Daniel and JImond. Once they figured that out and Mercy failed to adjust, they did well.2 points

Terry Bowden is the most overrated coach that we have ever had. At what point during this season do we need to consider canning this guy? I already think he needs to go. Please discuss...1 point

Honestly, Terry was one of the best TV color guys, but his coaching talent -- and seemingly, energy -- was left behind in the SEC. If Buffalo can be successful with a DIII guy, there's no reason that Akron can't too.1 point

Also, it would probably cost us recruits because nobody wants to sign with a lame duck coach.1 point

Yes, the Zips have notoriously had some pretty bad 1st halves this year. We played much better in the second half.1 point

I watched the replay as well, and I may have been a bit generous towards the Zips.1 point

Per ohio.com Williams said the university will use a private firm to conduct a national search. "I don't anticipate anyone on the current staff is going to be considered for the head job," he said. Williams said he'd like to have a new coach in place in two weeks. "But I won't let a timeline force me into making the wrong decision," Williams said.1 point

WOW! I became a Crew supporter this year based on their February appearance at Aloha Stadium (how great that Wil Trapp picked me out in the stands -- in my Zips jersey -- and walked over to say hey when the players entered the stadium) and the #SavetheCrew movement. I hesitate to like any club in that town, but am ready to become a full-on CC fan if they make this move! The new GM I also have met -- Pat Onstad was the Dynamo keeper when the team with Hawaii's Brian Ching played here about 2009. #GoCrew1 point

In the 2nd day of games at the showcase....Mr. Will Jackson had another very good day https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/boys-da-winter-showcase:-glut-of-games_aid45571 F Will Jackson, Internationals SC – For the second straight day, Jackson bagged a hat trick, including two in the game’s final seven minutes to tilt the field in his favor. It was a good day for the future Zip when Akron managed to unseat three-time defending champions Stanford Friday night. also, thank you to Zip_ME87 and fknbuflobo for giving me the heads up on Jason Shokalook - that young man has already tweeted that he is an Akron commit...he is class of 2021 Below are some of the top individual efforts noted from the second day of action. U16/17 F Jason Shokalook, Internationals SC – Playing in one of the firs games of the day, Shokalook scored four times as the Internationals won 6-1 against Rio Grande Valley FC.1 point

To me the problem with our running game is that we have not been able to recruit good backs, till last year. Why were we not able to recruit RB's- bad press from those bottom dwelling years. We now have a stable of very good young running backs and this will definitely improve our running game for 2019. Would I like to see improvement to a bone crushing OL - heck yes, but I think we have a decent lineup. Our 3rd team right tackle, Muldowney, played pretty well yesterday I thought. Next year, as far as athletes go, I'm concerned about the defense. Our D/E's look like Ward, Sampson, and Meeks. Our D tackles appear to be Jest, Brimage, Baptiste, Hanson and Hawkins. Might have to move Hanson to D/E, if he is fast enough. Linebacker also is a concern. I guess we'll see if Arslanian can play at 5' 9". Bubba seems to have the heart of a lion so I'd bet he makes an impact. The way I see it, the time is not now to make a change at head coach. If Bowden stays he needs to unwrap the offense and get some better coaching there, if the athletic department gives him the money. On the defensive side I like Stroud. Go Zips1 point

Go watch the NBA or Duke or the playground if you want style points, GT. I'll take fundamental basketball all day long. He has got to go.1 point

I'll take the W. Nice team effort. Still waiting for someone to stand out on the inside. I think everyone (even Mark) has shown flashes, but no consistency. We actually went without a big man for a few minutes tonight.1 point

Keyondre White is fun to watch. Needs to drop a few pounds tto get quicker out of the gate, but he’s a bruiser. Team played hard today, Wish we had an offense...1 point

Feel like we've actually competed pretty well minus some big mistakes. Need to score here though or the wheels can fall off quick.1 point

Coach Bowden is halfway toward building a great MAC program out of the shambles left behind by his predecessor. The defense is already there, arguably the best in the MAC. If he can maintain the defense at the current level or even higher and turn the offense around the way he did the defense, he will have fulfilled the dreams of every Zips football fan. But patience will run thin if it doesn't happen soon.1 point

From an ESPN story about 20 minutes ago. Possible candidates to succeed Bowden include Mississippi State offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, Los Angeles Chargers wide receivers coach Phil McGeoghan and Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich. I was unaware that Luke Getsy is the OC at Mississippi State. He would be an interesting choice. The guy definitely provided a lot of fire when he played here.0 points

Firing a coach two weeks before signing day. Brilliant. Unless they have a ringer lined up, this should have waited until Janiary.0 points
