I would tell Pluto that the reason Akron never found a guy like Moorhead is because they never went after a guy like Moorhead. Typically, it's because of the mindset that guys like Pluto have about Akron in that nobody decent would ever want the job so why try? The closest Akron ever came to a competent, big name coach was Brookhart. If you are old enough to remember, JD was one of the big names nationally at the coordinator job. Faust was a washed up laughing stock from ND. Owens was a nobody. Ianello and Arth...please. Bowden was close to being washed up but was not a laughing stock. Akron is a fantastic opportunity for a coach. Maybe it took a coach that was at Akron during a period of success to see that and the guy wanted back in.3 points

JoMo will be calling his own plays. Money saved on not hiring an OC will be spent getting high quality assistants for other positions.3 points

It's surprising this will only be our second true road game of the year. IMO we should have scheduled more road games this OOC to better prepare ourselves for trying to win in hostile environment come conference play.2 points

Isn't the current problem more related to COVID and the extra year being given to 4 or 5 classes of student-athletes?2 points

To the credit of the two rows of the students that were there, they were very vocal and into the game. The students seem to be developing a nice core.2 points

Hypocrite Lane Kiffin explaining/whining about the transfer portal. Pretty interesting perspective from a guy who's jumped from one job to the next for a better opportunity/more money. Hypocrite. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/lane-kiffin-on-the-transfer-portal-players-transfer-to-where-theyre-going-to-get-paid-the-most-183610273.html2 points

I still believe that Tribble is capable of making at least ONE three pointer this year. According to his Instagram and Groce's comments, he has really worked hard at getting his shot down. All it takes is one game where they guard him loosely behind the arc, like Garvin last game, and maybe he could get some confidence. I would love to see both Enrique and Aziz reach double figures tomorrow, hopefully they worked on some free throws this week.2 points

Everyone wants a free market until a 19 year old kid doesn't want to play at their favorite school anymore 😂1 point

Just like coaches tend to find their level, maybe the transfer portal allows players to do the same thing. After time at a bigger school, maybe the reality is the kid belongs at a G5 school and not P5. The freedom allows the player to reach his full potential. This is a good thing.1 point

Right or wrong it's what it was always going to turn into. A car dealership in Columbus was never going to give money to a kid going to Toledo.1 point

Call Jay at the ticket office. His direct number is 330-972-6982 (I hope he does not mind posting his name and number). He was a joy to talk to, knew what to do to get the order completed, and was very efficient in his job.1 point

I also got the call. After talking, immediately transferred to the ticket department and re-upped my season tickets. They said I could pay in June, but I wanted to lock in the seats now at current prices so I paid now. Ticket prices may considerably increase based on what Joe does. Finally, it is great to be a Zip fan!!!! Go Zips!1 point

Brayden Fox flamed out at Rutgers Todd Sibley was going to be a star at Ohio State until they pulled their offer and he became Van Edwards at Pitt Danny Clark has been on like 10 different rosters across all levels of college football after Ohio State pulled their offer There are plenty of others that I've seen as well, it's very strange.1 point

George Orwell's memory hole is a real thing. In a region full of really bad though leaders in sports, Pluto is one of the worst. I have no idea how he keeps drawing a paycheck.1 point

Pluto’s bosses tell him to write about Akron once in a blue moon because he’s been around long enough to that he just *has* to know what he’s talking about. The headlines on those two Arth columns alone should tell anyone all they need to know about his “expertise” on college football. It’s the same thing with the guys who follow Mount Union like it’s a religion. The Kehres name means little outside of their bubble. He may be great one day, but he’s only a .500 MAC coordinator good right now. Sorry guys, reality outside of the bubble you live in hurts sometimes.1 point

Yes, welcome to Z.N.o.! Great to have you posting! And I'm with you, I think Tribble is capable of making at least ONE 3-pointer this year. I know we're asking for the moon, but... 😂1 point

I'm looking forward to the day a decent journalist does an in-depth story on the kids who enter the portal with delusions of grandeur, and then afterwards lament they didn't know how good they had it at their original school. I have to believe the horror stories outweigh the successes pretty heavily.1 point

I just don't know why we wouldn't want to be unique AND get away from the last 3 years of script embarrassment. Fresh start! Rebrand! It has already been created so no effort needed. We've got Rooheads on the football field, "Z" on the basketball court, script Akron on football helmets, "Z" on the Gozips website, etc. Consistency and repetition drives branding. The "Z" is cool and I can't think of another school that could use it. Like the rest of you I am more interested in Ws though.1 point

This is why it's been so disappointing that Wynn has earned ZERO PT. After Walton's inglorious departure, we're running a 7-man rotation. That's awfully thin. Ali's been playing every minute of the game.1 point

Just wanted to say how wrong I was about Tribble this year. In our preseason talk I had him penciled in as riding the pine behind X & Clarke at PG and/or Walton & Dawson @ 2G. But Tribble's pretty much turned into our best PG & Groce puts the ball in his hands when it's crunch time. Way to prove me wrong, Greg!!! 💪💪1 point

And who can blame them for protesting the firing of the best head football coach that the University of Akron has ever had in the last two years.1 point
