  1. GT: “This is going to sound like a weird question, did you have to get used to having Bryan in the starting Lineup?” Xavier: “No.” GT: “Not at all?” X: “No.”

  2. Criteria I used to make suggestions ……………………….. 4. Still available according to TP on 247sports. 3. High rating (yea, yea, I know stars don’t matter). 2. Gut feeling they might commit if offered. and 1. Confuse the heck out of MDZip.

  5. This seems like an actual real and sincere post from the Zipmeister. No smart-assery in it anywhere that I can find. I looked closely at the names for a "Bill Fold" or "Dixie Normous" but I can't find anything. This looks legit. I'm confused.

  6. Love seeing all the updates. Each commit feels like Christmas morning! I'm already convinced we have a much better team already than we did the past 3 seasons. I know it's on paper, and maybe it's optimism that is blinding me, but still though. I'm stoked!!

  7. Wow. What a performance on offense in the second half. The first half was brutal to watch, just awful. But the Zips were really sharp in the second half with very few mistakes. Groce managed the bigs well with foul trouble which was huge. X and Trim absolutely phenomenal in the mid range, that’s great to see and very important. That changes all the dynamic. The three headed monster of Ali, X, Trimble has a lot of potential, I like it. Ball State came out playing great D and they played harder and made more plays the first 30 minutes. Sparks and Cochran are a pain. I thought Cochran looked familiar and then I realized he was from NIU and he gave us a ton of trouble in the game here with them last year. Overall, nice win. This team has a long way to go until it’s a well oiled machine. Friday win would be massive. Kent will come ready to play. In Groce we trust! Go Zips!

  8. You know it's an odd night when Trimble is shooting twos and Tribble makes a 3!

  9. I like that Trimble is shooting shots other than just the 3 tonight. Opens up the game for him and makes him tougher to defend.

  11. Wayyyyy too long in coming. I'd sure like to know how they've accomplished it and who's responsible. They deserve a pat on the back.

  12. Wow this is a big get!! Probably will be or one of the highest ranked players coming out of highschool to suit up for Akron. I know, I know it's a transfer and I know, I know stars don't always equal success. Nonetheless this is huge! Joe is really turning this roster up a talent level.

  13. The App State one is what hurts. Losses: Ohio State 24 😒 Fordham 143 🤢 App State 208 🤮 Ohio U 74 😐

  20. Some more thoughts from this one. I'm really bummed with Wynn. With Aziz and Freeman in such bad foul trouble, he really had an opportunity to make an impact as a force inside with a small lineup. But in his few minutes, he played poorly and committed more dumb fouls. You can tell he is a project for Groce, he doesn't seem nearly as invested as a lot of the guys on the team, hopefully that changes. Having him as the 9th/10th guy is huge as I feel he has more ability than anyone else in the league at that depth on the bench, but there's just something that's been keeping him from taking advantage of his opportunities. I think he will be gone after this year. Also thinking Ali may have been in protocol and missed some practice. Yes, he does take some step backs and mid range fadeaways as that is a shot that has always been in his arsenal. But last night he was forcing them badly. Trimble forces quite a few shots, but rarely are they quite as contested as the ones Ali was taking. Perhaps he was frustrated and trying to force the issue by putting the ball in the basket. Look for that to change back to normal going forward.

  21. Beat Toledo but lose to NIU and CMU. Go figure

  22. We all noticed the same stuff. I think Ali was coming off protocol and maybe Aziz. Groce mentioned that u could look at stats and see who has been out. 4 headed monster in X, Dawson, Ali, and Trimble. Dawson is the perfect 6 man. I thought the crowd was pretty good tonight. Saw some of the new football staff and some big, brawny football players...maybe the transfers.

  23. I loved watching Trimble tonight. Who knew that he had such a great game taking the ball to the hoop, taking jump shots and he even made a floater. X really had a great game and was flawless from the foul line at the end of the game. I have seen Ali play like this before, he starts to the basket, hesitates and then takes a fade away jump shot. He was out of sync offensively all night. He only had one point tonight. That has to be Tribble's first 3 of the season. I also thought Clark had a bad game. When he plays the point he dribbles too much and runs down the shot clock. Akron had 10 turnovers in the first half and shot poorly from the 3 line and were only down 2 points. Great 2nd half and great finish. Also, these refs sucked and blew the whistle way too much. There was a new ref I never saw before and he was pretty bad. However, it helped Akron at the end of the game since they called some weak fouls against Ball State that sent us to the foul line.

  26. 4.49 forty time, so he has some quickness. I am guessing that he was recruited as a WR and not DB, but I could be completely wrong. If so, that will start filling the future pipeline. As I state with all of these recruits: In Joe We Trust!!!!

  27. Makes you wonder how much of a difference he might have made against Ohio. 🤔

  28. Great!! Got that second WR to replace the losses of our transfers. Now, we need to get 1-2 highly rated freshman wide receivers to keep the pipeline going. Adams graduated in 2020. With the Covid season or a redshirt, he should still have 3 seasons left. Very highly rated out of high school, with many P5 offers. https://lsusports.net/sports/fb/roster/season/2021/player/alex-adams/ Very little success at LSU in 2 years. However, we welcome him to the corner of Union and Exchange and hope for great successes. In Joe We Trust!!!

  29. What’s up with these slow starts? It takes what crowd there is here out of the game. Haven’t had any momentum or much to cheer about this first half. Pathetic crowd. Fear of COVID maybe?

  30. Really sloppy start but fortunately by both teams so the Zips are still way in it. I do really like seeing the student section on TV. Don't know whose decision that was to move them, but it was a good one. I'm going to credit it to Charles Guthrie until I hear otherwise. 😜

  37. It has to be COVID considering the current case numbers. Work is ratcheting down on it. I'm going to an event next week where N95s are required. Sucks.
