In the post-game, Groce gave Tavari compliments on his offense, but it was obvious he is still not thrilled with his defense. That is what is keeping him from playing a larger role. Defense is not optional at Akron.4 points

Rique gets the ball out of the double team fine but often it gets to a non-shooter for the open look (like Tribble) and by the time he puts the ball on the floor the defense is back in position. He's improved his shooting but really need him to let it rip a bit more in those situations3 points

The Zips head to Toledo Tuesday hoping to hang on to sole possession of first place in the MAC. Since playing the Zips, the Rockets have beaten Eastern and OU while losing in double OT to App State in the MAC/Sun Belt Challenge. 6’4’ junior guard Ra’Heim Moss leads the Rockets at 16.4 ppg while also contributing 5.7 rpg. 6’2” junior guard Tyler Cochran is the Rockets’ leading rebounder at 6.8 rpg while contributing 13.5 ppg. 6’2” junior guard Dante Maddox is averaging 15.9 ppg. Hopefully, the Buffalo game wakes the Zips up. Toledo at home, with their 4 guard offense, could be quite a challenge for the Zips.2 points

Huge win. Zips came out ready to play and held onto the big lead. First win over a winning-record MAC team in 2 years.2 points

They are last in MAC field goal percentage at .415 so I'd say all of their shooting is not good!2 points

Prather was on the postgame and came across very well, as we would hope for a Zip. From listening to him and Groce, he was the practice player of the week so they were looking to work him in, and that was ramped up when Dawson got in foul trouble. Groce was not happy, especially with the first half and readily admitted it would be a long night Tuesday if the Zips play that kind of 20 minutes. He praised Prather. He also commented in Tavari's offense positively but said he wasn't nearly as good on defense.1 point

I think Sammy played pretty well today, he was active down low more than normal and took good shots for the most part. Not a crazy game for him, but a performance like that is just what we need1 point

Prather got a lot of their minutes. I think that both played 5 minutes or less. Their lack of offensive is hurting the team. I think Tavari will also see more minutes.1 point

I'm getting a little aggravated with one guy dribbling on the perimeter while 4 guys watch.1 point

Hard to believe Buffalo's fall in MAC basketball. Seems like just yesterday the Zips were facing guys like Justin Moss, CJ Massinburg, Jayvon Graves and many other top notch MAC players for the Bulls. How quickly things can go south (even for a team from the great white North). I always enjoyed the rivalry games so I hope they are on their way back.1 point

Well folks, I’m a delusional homer. I don’t think any fans will want to watch this garbage Buffalo Wings team. Thinking the crowd may end up looking like EMU’s “white out” crowd. Zips by 30. Evan “The GOAT” Wilson with 5.1 point
