Time to rank the top 5 HS/JUCO prospects at each position. Will also add transfers this year. Still too early to tell on many of the 2023 recruits, but a handful did have the opportunity to play significantly this past year. The late JUCO signees (like CJ Nunnally) I missed because they signed after spring ball. I’m sure a few will fall into that category again. HS/JUCO QBs 1) CENTRAL MICHIGAN - Jayden Glasser HUDL FILM 2) TOLEDO - Kalieb Osborne HUDL FILM 3) MIAMI - Thomas Gotkowski HUDL FILM 4) EASTERN MICHIGAN - Jace Stuckey HUDL FILM 5) AKRON - Brayden Roggow HUDL FILM TRANSER PORTAL QBs 1) AKRON - Ben Finley 2) CENTRAL MICHIGAN - Joe Labas 3) EASTERN MICHIGAN - Drew Viotto 4) NORTHERN ILLINOIS - Jalen Macon 5) KENT STATE - JD Sherrod Finley is the only transfer QB to have multiple spurts of legitimate success at the FBS level. Others on the list may have more physical ability or higher upside over the next few years, but they have little FBS production. 2023 QBs and how they fared: 1) AKRON - Steele Wasel = N/A Redshirted 2) CENTRAL MICHIGAN - Tyler Jefferson = N/A Redshirted 3) OHIO - Jacob Winters HUDL FILM = N/A Redshirted 4) EASTERN MICHIGAN - Ike Udengwu (JUCO) = Passing - 13 of 31, 100 yards, 0 TDs, 2 INTs. 5) TOLEDO - RJ Johnson HUDL FILM = N/A Redshirted Who I may have missed on: BALL STATE - Kaden Semonza = Passing - 50 of 82, 480 yards, 3 TDs, 5 INTs. Redshirted.4 points

Per 92.3 The Fan and other sources. "Now, according to multiple reports today, they're heading back to the MAC. The Mid-American Conference board voted today to add UMass as a full member, starting with the 2025-26 school year."2 points

Looks like his last football gig was at Colorado in 2012. Thats according to Wiki. Take it for what you think its worth. I just remember he brought in Brett(Bowling Ball) Biggs and they used him very effectively along with Getsy at QB. Getsy didn't run. JD also got Dennis Kennedy as a transfer I believe from Ohio State(fact check me). I also believe once they got Kennedy running north/south he had 1000 yards his senior year? Again, check me. With JD on the staff I think they have plenty of ability on the offensive coaching side. Got a feeling Moorehead wouldn't have brought JD in if he thought he was too out of touch with the game. Maybe, just maybe, Moorehead will use the running game more effectively than in the past. Gonna depend on who they decide is the QB.2 points

UA has been building quite a jazz faculty. I hope this is a concerted effort along with some nice plans for the Polsky Building.2 points

The Zips headed to Athens Tuesday night to face the Bobcats. The Bobcats are 14-12/8-5 going into today's game against NIU. The Zips beat the Bobcats 67-58 earlier in the season in a relatively competitive game at the JAR. The Bobcats played the Zips even in the second half. Senior guard Jaylin Hunter continues to lead OU in both scoring and assists.1 point

Wow. A few early thoughts... - Are they a Marshall and will be looking to leave quickly? If so, what's the buyout? - This is the first A10 school to move their basketball to the MAC in favor of football. This is also a move to the east for the MAC location wise. Looking at the A10, Richmond has a really good FCS football program. Would they be interested in making the move, too? I didn't think the MAC would be able to pull any A10 basketball programs, but football is king.1 point

I know UCONN is holding out hope for a P5 bid, but I wonder if they eventually end up in the MAC as well.1 point

Looks like the MAC will be adding UMASS in all sports starting in 2025-2026. Got to say I didn’t really see that one coming.1 point

He is an odd character. He uses the tennis ball as a stress reliever and also signals plays with it every once in a while. He also employs the use of laminated 8.5x11 sheets of paper with plays on them to signal to the players on the floor, strewn across the scorers' table. At coaches conferences, Dambrot and Groce (his friends) are often the coaches he speaks with the most as many guys in the business, while they respect him, find him awkward and "weird" for lack of a better term.1 point

There are a lot of reasons someone may use the TP. The getting pushed out because he didn't develop into a good enough player part bothers me. I believe if a player is pushed off of the team, there should be a full scholarship for him for his remaining years.1 point

Reality it was a huge mistake to bring in a guy with no FBS experience without requiring him to have a Chuck Amato type of OC/DC. He was way in over his head. You see it all levels. Some people are fantastic OC/DC/ position coaches, but when promoted to a higher role fail miserably.1 point

Toledo being the obvious choice, I'd like to avoid OU. They are getting it together I think. If we could draw WMU then CMU I think that would be ideal1 point

Who is the team you'd least like to face? I'd prefer to avoid Kent on Thursday. I think we'd win, but rivalry games are always tough, physical games and I'd rather us have an easier road to the semi-finals. Beyond that, we probably want Toledo on the other side of the bracket (although they never finish the job in Cleveland). My sleeper team is BG - they've been very inconsistent but I like their guard play and although I can't see them winning 3 straight, I do think they could pull off an upset somewhere in the tournament.1 point

Fantastic. Thank you. Hoping they get the 1 seed. Good excuse to take a vacation day1 point

None. They joined a group that was promised rebates on their energy costs. The person that negotiated the rebates took his cut and the group got the rest. Somehow this has been construed as the group having money stolen from them. Just like when there are tax cuts, some people think that is stealing money that rightfully belongs to the government.1 point

3rd of 4 men's teams at MAC Championships. 8th out of 12 in women's. Interested to see how these results are excused by "those in the know". Kent State replaced their long-time coach Bill Lawson with an in-house selection of Nate Fanger, their throws coach, and brought back an ex-assistant coach in Mike Schoeber, and utilized recently graduated KSU athletes as assistant coaches for PV, jumps and multis. A Championship for the guys and a second for their Women. At the same time, Mitchell leaves and we bring in a coach who was supposedly a Combined expert, yet we still can't produce a heptathlete or a pentathlete indoors. If Garretson didn't have private coaching we wouldn't have won the PV. Track and field are now just "placeholder" sports for the Zips, unfortunately. I think there's enough ex-high school track athletes on campus that aren't on the team, that you could put a squad together and with a competent high school coach probably compete against our team. So Sad.1 point

Yeah this is a big miss by the Athletic Department. I don't necessarily care that Senior Night is the 2nd to last home game on a Saturday, but it's not like Senior Night snuck up on the department as a "promo". Senior Night should've been announced when the schedule came out, especially since it's not the last home game of the season. Tribble, Freeman, Ali, and Hunter deserve the whole community's support. Hard to do that when even the diehards are caught off guard.1 point

Despite his experience here, I think Arth is fairly well regarded in NFL circles. Some guys are great position coaches/assistants but don't have the administrative and motivational skills to be an effective head coach. Maybe he's one of those guys.1 point

At this point if JG leaves I will have no ill will and nothing but an incredible amount of thankfulness. Will it suck? Is it possible? Both yes. Would I blame him? No. He's had chances to leave and hasn’t, Akron fits him well. The school loves him, he seems to love the school. IF he leaves, I want Ford as our next guy!1 point

For the sake of continuity and given that he's been a part of Groce's success, I'd be okay with Dustin Ford taking over the reins if Groce left and he wanted the job.1 point
