Standing ovation for all of the zips players....and the coaching staff Again, tremendous credit to the coaches for moving Malik up to right winger. Awful weather at the end of the game.....but all of the zips played their butts off. Fantastic soccer played by the zips tonight Beto and Jonas were great in the back.... Malik and Emil were both very unselfish on the 2 goals in the 2nd half. Only negative was 5 yellow cards for zip players. Referee Soren Stojka is legendary for having a short fuse and giving yellow cards for dissent. Great job by the entire soccer team.5 points

We aren't losing to Colgate. The frustrations with this team in the first 2 games have to do with needing to get the small things right in order to be competitive with the P4s. We are talented and should show better vs similar or lesser competition. Kent sucks.3 points

Very poorly coached game by JoeMo. Inexcusable penalties. Bad clock management. Pathetic offense.3 points

Akron substituted late. Refs have to give Rutgers the opportunity to substitute as well. Rutgers took their time, which is questionable, but JoeMo can't leave that in the hands of the refs. Has to take a TO there. He is single-handily destroying our opportunities on offense right now - and he's the coach.3 points

This is why it is so tough watching Akron football. Take the timeout and reset!!! And then a gimmick play that loses 20 yards. And of course the missed field goal. A trifecta of mistakes.3 points

Mark your calendars, Enrique will likely be in Cleveland November 9th and 10th. Would love to see a big Zips crowd to support him!3 points

Tears of Joy are streaming down my face, down my arms, my legs, my back. Hell, I’m nearly soaked to the skin. Actually, it was probably the 30+ minutes of torrential downpour to end the match. But the smile has yet to leave my face. Well done, boys!3 points

Agreed. The mental/organizatinal stuff appears to be biggest issue so far. That is fixable where talent isn’t.2 points

EMU up early on Washington 3-0 after a nice road win (OK it was UMass and it was expected, but an FBS road win nonetheless). We often point to Toledo as a model program to emulate, and thats understandable given the Rockets consistent success. But I would argue EMU is a better example, given how bad they were for so long before this recent string of respectability. Hell, the better answer is right in the word EMUlate 🤣. Seriously though, EMU has battled the "commuter" school image, lack of consistent winning and extremely low attendance over the years. Sound familiar? So just when we're about as down and out as we can get, consider how EMU somehow has turned it around.2 points

It would be strange to fire someone for losing at a school that isn't trying hard to win.2 points

I'm not really sure, nor care. What I do know is BGSU has a TE with over 100 yards receiving and a TD at the half against a top 10 ranked Penn State team. He played his high school ball at McKinley. It would be nice if we could keep the best MAC caliber recruits from our area away from our rivals.2 points

In each situation we were nowhere close to snapping the ball when the clock expired. Finley was acting like he had another 10 seconds? Bad drops by Newell, Golden and Polk hurt. I can’t remember the last time I saw even a mediocre Zips offense. Maybe that BG game where Blake Hester had his career day?2 points

In the last 10 years we have seen a lot of bad Akron football and a lot of stupid plays and a lot of stupid penalties including including late hits, and taunting. However, I have never seen 4 delay of game penalties in a half especially in crucial situations such as 3rd and 2 from the 11 on your first possibility to score a touchdown this season. How can a veteran QB and a veteran coach be oblivious to the clock. Only in Akron football.2 points

And jo mo has 2 timeouts in his pocket going into the half and 4 delay of games. Great field coaching!!!2 points

Yeah. Sadly, they broke decades of tradition, most likely due to inclimate weather and sparse attendance. Also, music and public announcing seemingly cannot grasp how unimportant they are when compared to the team briefly celebrating with the students. If folks in the booth do not get it, someone from AD office should get it for them.2 points

Best half of soccer this year. Great move by the coaching staff to move Malik up to right winger. Malik and Josh are a really good duo on the right side. Emil J......is such a smart player. He really has good vision. Emil and Malik are a handful for a team to deal with. Victor Gaulmin had a super first half as the "6" 10-1 in shots and 4-0 in shots on goal Great first half.......would love to see Malik get a goal in the 2nd half.2 points

We fired Arth under similar circumstances. Though would hope the powers that be have a little more patience with Moorhead.1 point

St. Francis first ever win over an FCS team. Last week they lost 18-10 to Dayton, who is non-scholarship for football. 😂1 point

He should have done that the day after we replaced Kentucky at home with OSU in Columbus.1 point

Understandably, I think he really tried to avoid getting hit and missed a several throws and sprinted out of the pocket rather than throw the ball and get hit. The 3 delay of games is inexcusable. I would have liked to see Tahj get some snaps as I think his running may have rattled Rutgers and slowed the rush.1 point

Thoughts on Finley today? Thought he did a lot well, WRs dropped a lot of his passes.1 point

This has been worst coached game by JoeMo I have ever seen. He has to improve before he can expect the team to improve. Coach Tibs should take over next year.1 point

10-21 if you have competent coaching in the final 2 minutes of the first half (probably even closer if you have competent coaching the whole game). Instead, 10-28.1 point

Yup not our day. Can't expect you to hang with a Big Ten team if you can't even get plays off on time. Not to mention a complete collapse to end the first half. Really thought our offense would be impressive under Finley. Super conservative playcalling. But honestly he seems inconsistent and the receivers aren't doing him any favors.1 point

Look down the road to Canal Park and see what the Rubberducks are doing every summer. It isn't perfect, but there's at least an effort.1 point

It would be nice if those time outs we neglected to use were helpful on this drive.1 point

Certainly never meant to imply that (but I thought that would have been obvious). It just struck me as funny and a bit ironic that the program most cited as corrupt back in the day is now doing the very same things, but this time it's on the up and up. Here's a wild idea for additional Info utilization. How about a UFL expansion team?1 point

Happy to see Remi available and get into the game. I liked what we saw and am looking forward to seeing more of him. https://gozips.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/remi-agunbiade/94471 point

This is exactly the type of performance I expect of an Akron soccer squad, and precisely why I expected a win. Hats off to the coaches and players for answering the call. Go Zips!1 point

Agreed, but they could be doing a better job using the football program to expose people to the benefits of the University. I don't think they can do everything Toledo is doing, but they can do more. Winning would help, but they should do better wine or lose.1 point
