I’m not interested in excuses at this point. If you want a case study for turning a program around in two years then look no further than our last opponent - Eastern Michigan. They don’t have anywhere near the facilities that UA has and yet they posted a .500 record in conference. Won a game in 2023, won 3 in 2022, got a new coach with a vision for the program and strategy on the field and they went over .500 this year. Oh, btw, he can also recruit. One of his starters and the girl who scored - both from NE Ohio. Missed by our coach? You bet! You all intrigued yet?? What is coach Simonetti and our administrations excuse for her 0 wins against conference? So I’m not just complaining without a solution… look up Cayleb Paulino and what he’s done an hour or so west….3 points

It has been 8 years since we have won 2 games in a row. Could this be the day?3 points

I would like to recognize and celebrate Malik Henry today. Josh Hardin was one of the players sitting on 4 yellows. For the majority of the 2nd half, Josh came out of the game. Malik moved from right winger to right back...with Maximus Barboto and Jack Roman getting most of the time at right winger I thought that Malik was outstanding in the 2nd half at right back. Malik would probably get more all league and all region recognition if he played all of his time at right winger. Malik probably does not get the recognition that he deserves because he splits his time between right winger and right back. This Akron fan.....greatly appreciates Malik being a true unselfish team player....and doing what is best to help the soccer zips win. Thank you much, Malik.2 points

2024-25 MAC Conference Preview Zips were picked #3/12 which is one spot lower than the placement from the Preseason Poll which had us at #2. Surprisingly, no Akron players were elected to any of the preseason award teams. Article talks the loss of Freeman and about the influx in former P5 transfers and how they perform will determine the team's success this season. Has a starting lineup prediction for the team and the other teams in the conference. Worth a read.2 points

I had to laugh the other night. Groce spoke about how these ranking mean absolutely nothing but then later told us how strong the schedule was citing the rankings of our opponents. I trust in Groce and this team to prove these rankings wrong.2 points

The Gensler Era enters its second season kicking off hosting Georgia State in the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge Monday night. I'm not really sure what our expectations should be with Reagan heading to West Lafayette and a lot of new faces on the squad but I'm looking forward to seeing the girls back in action.1 point

4 turnovers was the difference in the game. Not “faster or slower players.” Or maybe the “fast” players from Buffalo just left the stadium in the 4th quarter and it was a whole new group? I asked for specific players from the “talent” statement. I’d disagree about the QB, but we don’t share the same opinion. That said, if it is just the QB and RB, then the talent issue isn’t really the issue.1 point

Akron has yet to exceed a 2 win season since Bowden. I am curious if anyone has changed their mind about firing Bowden? Was it really worth it?1 point

I would imagine part of the thought process for basketball being more profitable is the guaranteed money from making the NCAA tournament, and better odds of a MAC program advancing vs football. There's a reason why the MW is back-filling with some basketball-only programs that have had proven recent success in March. This is also exactly why the MAC needs to be looking at the Missouri Valley for strong basketball programs with FCS football if they get off their hands and decide to grow.1 point

Prior to all the turnovers, Buffalo was doing nothing offensively.1 point

Two weeks in a row Kellom fumbles. Two weeks in a row Finley throws a terrible int. The umpteenth week in a row the defense folds at an alarming speed after an offensive blunder. For the umpteenth time the Zips are beating themselves.1 point

I'm not as optimistic. As I understand it ASU returns the core of their team and added a few key contributors. I'm not saying we can't win, but it will be an uphill on the road and being the first real game this core has played together.1 point

In the Toledo Blade article, one of the MAC basketball coaches was quoted as saying that basketball is the lone sport where the MAC schools can make money. I'm sure football would be able to make money if we had a better media deal, but I'm with you - MAC commish needs canned for what he has done to the conference. I don't think mid-week MACtion is all that detrimental, as many CFB fans nationwide love it, but the amount of money schools get for sacrificing traditional Saturday environments isn't worth it. In addition, he has failed to grow the conference with schools who actually give a damn about sports. Regarding the Mountain West, they're embarrassing themselves with their rebuild plan.1 point

I did watch both halves, and I was pleased to see Coach change up her tactics. They utilized the fullbacks in the offense more than in any match this year, and the defensive centers played a higher line as well. They tried to score, and as @adzip said, the defense continued to play tough. Yes, we'll have to see what the missing forwards can do when they return to action. And they were also right - a junior or senior transfer student with experience in playing at a MAC or higher level school would make a huge difference on this team. Yesterday was a nice statement that they weren't going to quit. And I liked that they didn't make a ton of substitutions like past games, which showed in the continuity on the field. IMHO.1 point

Article Here. This stuff makes me sick. The utter incompetence of the Board of Trustees, the Administration over years. Absolutely pathetic and infuriating as an Akron Alumni. And you know they're going to balance the budget on the backs of the workers...again. Just pathetic. Absolutely pathetic.0 points
