Considering our budget restrictions, is there an off-brand Red Panda...maybe a Pink Koala? On a tricycle, with paper plates? Could we get the Blatz Light Daredevils to perform some antics on pogo sticks?4 points

I completely agree. I know you already have the answer, but I will say it anyway. A 2 or 3 win run in the NCAAT will get the attention of every sports-minded person in NEOhio. Do it twice and you’re all of a sudden cool and filling the JAR.4 points

I actually think Freeman leaving helped some of these guys develop. When you have a talent like Freeman it becomes easy at times to just run the offense through him and let him do his thing. With him gone we were forced to redevelop our offense and players were kind of just tossed off the boat and forced to either learn to swim or drown. Obviously with Freeman we would be a better team. I'm just not sure we would have seen our guards develop the way they have if he was still here.3 points

My kingdom for a viable back up big. Or just a big. Maybe Groce can poach a guy from the men's volleyball team🤨3 points

Even more unbelievably, they already have. They only play Eastern and Western once and are 7 games up on each with 7 to play. First tiebreaker is head to head.3 points

To Summarize: If U of A had Enrique, this season's wings and guards, along with Red Panda we could stop the would, could, should discussion?2 points

I missed all of that but the huddle may have obstructed the view. Does that make it right? I have gone to many functions, business and non business activities because it was the right thing to do and I did not leave early because it would have been disrespectful to the host. If the University is training these student athletes for life and a business career, should they not learn respect for others? If I was the U I would make it mandatory that the coaches escort the teams on the floor and that the coaches and teams stay till the end of the game and cheer on the Zips any time a student athlete is honored during a sporting event.2 points

Last night they honored the student athletes who made the honor role at halftime with about 150 students being honored. After they were honored, about 95% left. I was disgusted by their choice to leave. It showed zero school spirit and I thought was disrespectful to the basketball team who has the nation's longest winning streak. They use the basketball crowd to honor the students and the students dishonor their fellow athletes by leaving ASAP. The school does this every year during a basketball game as long as I can remember. Am I the only one that feels that way?2 points

If the Zips manage to win a game in the NCAA tournament this year, I predict Bowen Hardman will play a big role with getting open outside the circle and knocking out the opponent. BTW, one of my favorite plays in bb is the drop-back pass, such as the one Seth Wilson took for the open 3-ball. It's practically impossible to block or defend.2 points

I completely agree. Would I want to have a chance to see Freeman with this team? Sure, but now that we're not dumping it in to the low post so often, the spacing for guys like Nate, Tavari, Shammah and others has opened up and I think this is a big factor for how much we've improved "finishing" at the rim this year. Having said that, we will remain vulnerable to taller teams if (hopefully) the situation presents itself again.1 point

I think UA should establish a Red Panda residency like the Vegas venues do with the big stars!1 point

I’m surprised Red Panda from all accounts only charges $5K a performance. That is well within the $100K BW generously contributed to UA for BB marketing this season! https://www.startribune.com/halftime-performers-like-red-panda-the-amazing-sladek-and-christian-and-scooby-are-show-stoppers/6003642791 point

I don't think Freeman stymied Castenada's development? Tribble went from 8.6% to 35.7% from behind the arc with Freeman last year. We had zero threats from the perimeter last season. Sammy Hunter was streaky at best, and he was the best shooter we had. We really had no option but to ride Enrique night in night out. Give me an NBA caliber low post player + the guards and wings we have today any day of the week.1 point

Ohio State has a large under grad population, and the majority are there because Ohio State is cool and attending games is a social status boost. Akron has a dwindling under grad population, the majority are there to focus on their sport or education, Akron isn't cool, and attending games doesn't boost their social status. Until someone figures out how to make Akron cool, these kids are going to struggle to find the motivation to support athletics.1 point

One more thought from a wise Zips fan (not myself), as the streak extends and with easy wins with OU, Kent, and Miami, we expect a blow out every game. WMU win felt more like a loss? or disappointment? Miami recovered from a shellacking at the JAR. Zips are going to hit a couple bumps before March 13.1 point

The T was on the coach. After they got it down to 3 he huddled his team and literally exploded at the ref and was held back by his players. He slammed the clipboard on the ground and the ref heard it and then gave the coach a T. I have no idea what got the coach so mad but somebody indicated one of his players was bleeding and he was upset that there was no foul called.1 point

Travis and Miami beat Toledo for the first time since 2011. Kraft put up 40 points. The brothers are on a collision course.1 point

Only 6 on the Zips. Both teams should be in the bonus within the first 7 minutes of the second half!1 point

They would have made tournament even with a loss, but the Ball State loss as well helped. OT: Train wreck program: read up on the Green Bay Phoenix and their major SOB of a coach. He's likely hoping to be fired in order to get a pay day.1 point

I do think that social media has to do with it as well. HS kids will see posts from people at these big schools like Alabama and they get so much more exposure than they would have before social media. Every August #bamarush is trending on tiktok and these giant P5 party schools get all this free advertising showcasing parts of campus culture that campus tours and informational pamphlets can't1 point
