Once in football too (shockingly)!

Toledo's a weird team - before beating Ohio today and last Friday, they had lost 6 of their last 7, including Buffalo and BG and a 40 point loss at Kent. They actually beat Ohio 3 times total this year, but went 0-5 against Akron/Miami/Kent. They have the 4th best offense in the MAC but ranked 11th in defense- only Buffalo was worse. They ranked dead last in opponent 3-point percentage and in made threes per game. On paper, it's a good matchup for us. But we still need to take care of business.

We beat Toledo twice this year in basketball and now once in rugby. I love our fight and strong finish. Go Zips!!

There are a ton of new apartments coming downtown in the next few years. There is no reason to bulldoze the awesome and unique Quaker. Just renovate and turn it back into hotel.

KD went 16-16 (7-11 in the A10) in his first year at Duquesne. Dru finished 8-10 in the A10. Pretty good season IMO. First year as a HC in a tough conference; lots to build upon.

This is a positive for the University. It both gives them an infusion of cash to reduce debt and also reduces annual maintenance costs. I hope whoever bought it is able to redevelop it into something that will be useful for the community.

CBS is as clueless as the refs. That was an intentional takedown of Okonkwo. Good on Tavari. Edit: The refs got it mostly right in the end, but they lost control of this game. CBS announcers are still clueless.

Alabama State won their semifinal game. That means all 4 participants in the ABC made it to their semifinal at the very least, with Omaha, Alabama State and potentially Akron reaching their conference finals. Lamar lost to McNeese St in their semifinal game, Omaha won their conference, and we will see what happens with ASU & Akron. People scoffed at the ABC, but it was a mini version of the MAC tournament - 3 games in 3 days vs above average competition. UPDATE: 3/4 teams have at least made their conference final. Akron Basketball Classic produces champions.

I was scouting PCCC a few minutes ago. At halftime, they did a piece on one of the flushes. It was his love letter to basketball. It was nice, but then I remembered the halftime piece from our game this morning. Our halftime piece was about our transfers. It was awesome to see how Akron has become a home for them and the connections they have. #TEAMISM

Akron has a couple good hotels downtown now if you consider by Luigi's downtown. Demolish the Quake Hotel and build apartments for young professionals. Get people living downtown again.

As someone who lived there when it was a dorm, it was a real pain to walk anywhere but the College of Business and Polsky buildings. It seems the U has a lot more buildable space closer to the center of campus. Hopefully someone can preserve Quaker as a hotel, because Akron could use more hotel rooms downtown. It’s a cool building, too.

Don't you dare suggest common sense ideas to the MAC. The MAC also shouldn't have a Tuesday/Saturday conference game schedule when Tuesday nights are high school basketball game nights in Ohio (where their offices and majority of their schools are, especially the top programs).

Please ignore above post. Could not get it off my screen. Our best player and MAC player of the year went 1 for 9 and only scored 3 points and we won by 30. However, Nate had 8 rebounds and 5 assists. He also had the plus 25 while on the floor which led the Zips. Hope he has a better shooting day tomorrow. On a completely unrelated note, I met a guy at the game whose job was to record player stats in real time and he told me he would be there all day doing all 4 games. He said there were at least 10 other people doing the same thing as him for different companies. He indicated it was gambling related and that the stats on ESPN were delayed by 30 seconds. I guess the gambling companies need all the stats in real time to adjust the odds as the game progresses. He told me the job paid $200 a day but he loved it because he loves basketball. I just found this bizarre.
