Position Preview (and updates) - Wide Receiver

As an update on the tweet embedding issue - we continue to work on it. It seems like a server issue, but we are working with Invision as well. We will give everyone a free February as compensation for the disturbance. After that, rates will return to normal. -
Game 17- Eastern Michigan

The heart wants what the heart wants...and the heart wanted...Utah Valley? His stats should only get better and they move into the conference portion of the season, facing the likes of Texas-Rio Grande Valley, California Baptist State, Abeline Christian, Utah Tech, Tarleton State and the other heavy-hitters of the WAC. -
I’d like to think my internet coaching heavily contributed to Hunter’s breakout half. 😉 He’s even moving his feet on D?! Keep it up big man!

Our Cheese/Banks/LCJ back court is the gold standard. Casteneda can be mentioned in the same conversation as those above. I hoped Hankerson could be too...but he still doesn't seem comfortable or assertive enough. The season's half over, so it's probably not going to happen. TJ needs some swagger. Once he gets confidence he'll be fine. Hope it happens this season. Who's our 2023 Xerius Williams? Offensively, Hunter is closer to Maishe than Xerius. And he's a poor defender. I don't think anyone else is in the conversation? I still hold faith that Groce will have the Zips playing their best basketball at year's end. Under his watch, they always do. Eventually some cream will rise to the top and we'll be as big a threat as anyone to cut down the nets in CLE.

Joe Moorhead Officially Hired as Head Football Coach

TCU’s 3-3-5 defense not looking too effective tonight. -
FYI - The twitter embedding issue is being looked into.

I’d love to see Tavari help Tavari.

Aside from Freeman’s absolutely Hurculean performance, the Zips fielded a completely hapless offensive team tonight,. Hunter provides little if any offense, and has incredibly slow reactions on defense. He does foul consistently after he gets beat on the baseline though. I wouldn’t know Hankerson was in the game if it weren’t for his technical ft’s. Tribble, while playing dogged defense, doesn’t offer much beyond a few floaters on offense . Lyles’ contribution is random at best. Tavari can’t become a sophomore soon enough… So much playing time is available for any Zip that wants to step up. I guess my money is on Tavari to get fed up with playing tentatively and become a legit offensive threat. But right now he ain’t. Let’s get X back, and see who else besides he and Enrique wants do the work necessary to win a championship. And the refs sucked tonight…how weak of will can you be to get intimidated by the Ball State fans? At least they made the get home 45 minutes later than they should’ve.

9 career games at SC. Zero career tackles. Often injured. Hope for the best with him, I guess. -

I think it was 3-2 well into the 3rd quarter? Robinson wasn’t a complete bust, but if stars mattered, his 5-star rating was a solid 3-to-4 too high. -

Funny how some people clamor for MORE STARS! Then we get a kid with MORE STARS…and they panic that he’s too good, and incumbent players are going to transfer out! 😀 -

Nate was a solid example of a Rutgers 5 Star that turned into an Akron 1-Star. -
How poorly written was Greg Beals contract that this could happen?

Did George ask in the NIU post game presser?

PAC-12...MAC-12
-
Or Jelly Bean Bryant...Pork Chop Womack...Refrigerator Perry...Coy Bacon...Turkey Jones...Truck Robinson...The Juice Simpson...Honey Badger... If I was a decent P5 player I'd give myself a cool marketable nick name and watch the dollars roll in. Forget the old "school and team" garbage...monetizing yourself is what college athletics is all about.

Carried on YouTube TV too.

Faust was going 1-10 before it was cool. 😎 -
The Bulls seem motivated to beat Kyle Vantrease today? Hard to believe Buffalo needed the biggest gift since the Zips 14 karat stunner handed to CMU to become bowl eligible.

Former Zips HC Lee Owens Steps Down @ Ashland

He also stripped a Kent running back of the ball about 3 yards from the end zone in that game. The only other Zips game I witnessed where a single Zips player had such an impact on the outcome was Jason Taylor against Virginia Tech at the Rubber Bowl. That was an atrocious Zips squad, and JT’s dominance almost got us the “W.”
