A little surprised this thread isn't more active. A game on ESPNU vs the biggest name program we'll play all year and we're winning. I'd like to see us adjust to the zone better and get the FT % up a bit in the 2nd.
-
Good on the refs for getting that right. Very dirty. Good to see our players/coaches keep cool.
-
Zone seems to be giving us some fits. Really like how we started though. Let's finish the half strong and hit our FTs!
-
USC racking up the fouls pretty quick. Hopefully we can take advantage and hit our FTs when the time comes.
-
Let's go Zips!
-
Thank God that game didn't go into OT.

too easy...
-
Why couldn't we have drew UAB? Ohio is up 41-6 on them in the 4th right now. The jackass announcers just did the OH-IO chant...

All dre does is come on here to bitch. He lives in MD I believe, so he doesn't attend games anyways. Talk about pot calling the kettle black!
-
Well said. I agree 100%
-
I would be shocked if they did, honestly. Lazy ass GT taking vacation during the biggest game of the season is par for the course.
-
And they got Oregon state to come to the MAC center

New Commit: Garfield DT Marcus Kidd

I would have to believe so. Shame. -
Should heads have rolled after OSU lost 31-0 to Clemson last year? What about when Saban lost to ULM? Or SMU losing 51-10 last night? Or Tressel getting curb-stomped in the national championship game twice? What about when OSU beat Wisconsin 59-0 in the B1G championship? I don't care if you are for or against Bowden, but a knee jerk reaction to the result of ONE game is ridiculous no matter how you want to spin it.
-
I don't think anyone really disagrees with that. Nobody is advocating to extend him long-term and build a statue. Many (myself included) were at least questioning whether or not he should be let go following this season earlier in the year when things were looking dim. Let me pose this question: Has a MAC coach EVER been fired after winning his division and going to a bowl game? I would guess that would be unprecedented. Let's not get too full of ourselves here.
-
No offense, but this might be the worst argument I see against Bowden. I don't even know what it is supposed to mean honestly. Was the Troy loss sheer luck against us? We played a horrible game and they converted some big plays on their last drive to win it. Was the Miami loss sheer luck against us? Had to throw in a freshman QB making their first start on a few days notice and they got their starting QB back. Was Buffalo a lucky win? They got their starting QB back against us after missing considerable time. Is our captain on offense and defense missing most of the season sheer luck going our way? Was last year after we started 5-3 and ended up finishing the season with a WR at QB sheer luck in our favor? I believe we win or lose every game as a result of the player and coach performance. There are a few lucky breaks that go our way and a few bad breaks that go our way in both every game and season.

You can't expect him to bring in any recruits when the coaches contract would be up by the time they get on campus.

Let's see how this works... I've sorted by position group as how they are listed on GoZips. An "X" in Column C means I believe they are on scholarship one way or another. Either announced in a signing day presser, transfer from a bigger school, late signing, or at least a semi-regular contributor. I've got 2 players listed as Medical Redshirt Seniors - MTB and DeMarcus Lloyd. Both have been injured all year and did not participate in senior day. I assumed all walk-on freshman from last year will be redshirt freshman next year, and everyone else I just added a year based on what was listed for 2017. Ex. A R.Sophomore in 2017 will be a R.Junior in 2018. I did my best guesstimating the 2017 freshman class classification for next year. I would imagine it is correct, though. I also assumed only one of each specialist (PK,P, LS) were on scholly. I think we know this is done based on the Stein story of letting O'Leary keep the scholly even though he was the starter because he didn't need it. If you are pretty sure a player shouldn't be/should be listed as a scholly player, let me know! Right now I am showing we have 11 scholarships left going into next year. I would imagine there are probably a few on scholly we don't know of, 6-7 more signees for this years class, and a few to be left open for any transfers opportunities that may arise. LB is an area of concern that sticks out to me immediately. We lose a lot of scholarship players after next season and I don't feel the best about the talent of the lower-classman. DE looks a little thin as well, but we know Reinke plays DE and Hanson may end up there too as he is too light to play interior to me. Zips Football Scholarship Chart.xlsx

I think every MAC schools gets to keep their bowl payout money. I believe the only caveat is if a MAC school qualifies for a "BCS bowl" or "New Years Day Bowl"...whatever it is called nowadays, then that money gets split up between the conference.
-
I'm going to try to put a scholarship chart together (similar to what was done for basketball) today or tomorrow to see where we really stand with openings since there are always questions. Of course there will be a ton of uncertainties of whether or not a player is on scholly or not, but hopefully the wonderful members of Zn.O will have some random knowledge and help narrow it down.
-
I think its all supposed to be public records being that he is employed by a public U. The best way would be to go through the U somehow. Not sure if its worth the hassle though. I have trouble believing newsday is correct.
-
The only walk-on I see listed on the roster are McCintyre and Sina. Neither are listed as #13 nor coming from JUCO. Maybe. Though he isn't a JUCO transfer and he is listed as #2 online.
-
haha....it does sound bush league. I did play against some players at the rec though in my time that I would have swore were on the team. Size and skill...
-
#13 isn't Toles yet is it?

I highly doubt GVH said anything that bad.
