Game 14- Bowling Green

Recommended Posts

The 10-3 Bowling Green Falcons come to the JAR Friday for a late 9:00 game, fresh off a close win over Eastern.

6'5" junior guard Justin Hill is averaging 20.3 ppg to lead BG scoring.  6'0' senior guard Trey Thomas has averaged 12.1 ppg over 7 games.  6'8" senior forward Rashaun Agee is averaging 11.1 ppg and 8.3 rpg.

Bowling Green was predicted to finish 6th in the MAC preseason poll. No Falcon was named to the preseason teams.  They have won eight games in a row.

Zips will need to get on the boards to help out Enrique Friday night.  Agee is a good rebounder.  Towns has been out injured but if he's back he can rebound.  The 7 footer Spurgin has also been rebounding at a decent pace.  Enrique is tearing it up on the glass but no one else on the team is averaging more that 3.8 boards a game.

Mainly ... Zips can't get into a high-scoring game with this team. They only play 7-8 guys, but they offer some mis-match problems. Who does Freeman guard? 6-11 Spurgin or 6-8 Agee. Who guards Hill, ...  Ali?

Hunter has to show up solid IMO, at least defensively and on the boards.

Freeman takes Spurgin, Ali/Hunter take Agee. Tribble/Dawson take Hill.

The only mismatch in this game is a guard who can score vs an entire backcourt that can't. If we play solid D and get Freeman/Ali going, Akron wins. If we let Hill go off and can't get Freeman/Ali going, we probably lose.

I don't mind 9 PM start times on Friday night, but I'm not able to attend the games in person either. I can go to dinner with my wife, have some drinks, come home and have some more drinks during the game. When the game is over, I have no drive home. I'll just walk upstairs and go to bed.

Another issue created by the 9:00 p.m. game time is that many of the GA regulars are resistant to paying the $10 parking fee for the deck and have been parking and walking in from other places in and around campus.  That feels much better from a safety perspective and 6:30 and 9 than it does at 8:30 and 11.

Park on Broadway and walk up. Not a problem.

I'd rather park somewhere down off of Brown Street and walk in for the thrill of the adventure.

yeah, snowflakes should probably just pay the $10 at the garage and call Zip Patrol for an escort.
